  1. A good read; I was wondering if any members on here would've been affected by the floods we are seeing on the news down here. Reminds me when I had to drive my zed through a flooded street for only about 50 or so meters but the water was about 3-400mm deep; water started to come through the grommets (didn't have carpet then!) and start seeping in from under the doors...felt like I was piloting a boat! got through as the water really started to pool up. You hope the rain eases for a while now..
  2. Might be a bit hard to do because of the different conditions of spare parts available. Unless you can be bothered to setup a condition A, B or C from very ordinary to restored / NOS..
  3. Another quick check is to set the timing to #1 TDC and check the position of the rotor button in the cap..is it pointing to number 1 cylinder on the cap? Have you checked the firing order? 1 5 3 6 2 4 From memroy, when the distributor rotor is at #1, it should be close to pointing at the radiator support panel or the front of the car.
  4. Some mandrel bends would've saved you some hours there.. Good work! I tried my own single exhaust once... and only once! Spent 10 hours on it and it was still hanging too low.
  5. Still have the part of metal you cut out? hehehe
  6. Best example I've seen so far is a 2+2 that belongs to a forum member in Ireland. Makes me want to get one...
  7. Hmm...could you make another exhaust cutout "filler" plate again? need one for my zed..and how much?
  8. Make sure the cylinders aren't full of fuel; stick some new plugs in and air out the cylinders to get rid of any fuel that's there. Sooted up plugs dont fire or fire erraticly and just make the problem worse. Have a nice fully charged battery on hand, and then give it a start without heaps of choke or pumps of the throttle. See what happens then.
  9. Found my thread about it; http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,2993.0.html I still have the wiring loom schematic on file if anyone needs it.
  10. It's a bit hard to explain, but when they park without my help, and sit a tad high, when I go to switch them back on, they keep travelling down for a split second then start the upward stroke as normal. If I re-adjust the arms on the spindle, the wiper blades will hit and run over the windscreen seal then travel back up. It must be the timing in the wiper motor itself that needs adjusting. Not a big issue for me, as long as the wipers work well, that's all I care about. Nope, just have to re-drill 3 holes in that metal plate that holds the original wiper motor and all the original zed arms and linkages bolt up. A little wiring is needed; just make a new in-line plug in from the original loom to the new motor. I'll try and find the thread on here somewhere..
  11. My Civic one does self park but it does it slightly on the high side. If you turn it on and off at the right point, they sit nice an low.
  12. Excellent progress; its come a long way since I saw it last..keep us posted Craig!
  13. I think the rust problem is mainly due to when some zeds are de-registered or no longer driven, are stored either on the moist grass down the backyard or near the coast where the salty air and water takes care of what metal is left. Cars that are garaged, always are in far better condition.
  14. Thats always the plan but as you know with Melbourne weather, you leave with the sun and come back with wall clouds and large hail in the arvo!
  15. I fitted a wiper motor out of a Honda Civic (93?) to upgrade my one. It's a lot faster but parking the wipers is abit annoying.
  16. I bought 6 new Bosch injectors from EFI Hardware in Mitcham Vic for $99 each a little while ago.. might be good to check price again.
  17. Probably would've been me but I would prefer a 37 instead of a 57. It relates to engine capacity as being under 2 litre with a 5.
  18. Welcome to the forum and soon another welcome when you arrive! Where abouts are you planning on moving to? I'd bring the 280Z and ditch the 350. We are only around 9 hours ahead so you won't find zeds here with hover conversions and powered by flux capacitors.. Vintage racing here is pretty popular so you should'nt be disappointed!
  19. RIP Kyle; you will be very sadly missed..
  20. The ultimate plate I would like to own, I heard in the 90's at auction it sold for $100K+....... the number 1!
  21. If you cover up all the "speed holes", you'll end up doing my sort of lap times Gareth...
  22. When can we expect the huge "Z performance workshop" sign to be installed on that shed?
  23. Have a look at the Paul Newman 280ZX's of the time and see what they did; it obviously worked for them! They had some monster turbo L28 powered zx's.
