The concept is a good idea, but not unlike many sites that have one forum but different models within it. For example, http://ozbenz.net/index.php (scroll down to "model specific"). Re: the gallery. Ease of use is the key to whether users use it. All forums have different rules and formats, which does make them a pain in the arse, but most of them also make life so hard with file sizes, file types, how they are attached, whether the program automatically re-sizes the photo, etc. Plain English would also help - for example, do you want a full size display, or a thumbnail ? It's an easy question, but no one asks ! There are a lot of people out there that have no idea how to re-size the photos that they have just taken on their digiital camera and all they want to do is get it into a posting. They don't want to know if a bmp file is acceptable or not, or if it has to be re-sized if it's 3mb - the program should be enabled to do that. IF there was an option to add a file/photo to a posting, that included an option to put it in the gallery, I think people would use it. Using Photobucket is fine, but it does mean another step in the process.

There are plenty of places on the net - eBay, Datsun Restore, etc, but getting the correct one is not easy. Most of the repros are different than the originals.

They are all "well priced" - it just depends on your definition. Some would say they are under valued, while others will think they are too high to get an entry into the market. One thing is sure - they are not going to get any cheaper !

Pauly was good enough to send me a copy of his plate, but, being a late 260, it seems they changed the plate, slightly, so now I'm on the look out for an early 260 or perhaps a late 240 plate. The difference, apart from the layout, is that the early plates have the engine number stamped into them.

Take it to any paint shop with a colour matching facility - most have them and get them to analyse it on their colour spectrometer.

If anyone has removed these from their car, can they tell me if the centre section (behind the Z) is an open section, or is solid ? If open, shouldn't the body colour show through, or was this painted behind it ? It doesn't look like the body colour behind it to me, but it could also be years of grime. Secondly, does anyone know if the Nissan Matic badge is available new from anywhere ?

It's a bit like seat belts. Everywhere, except Queensland, works to ADR regulations, which requires seat belts for cars from 1969 onwards. Queensland is from 1960. I plan on taking some of my pre-1969 cars to Victoria (I have a Vic licence and a Qld customer number) to register them, then transfer the registration to Qld. In theory, there should be no reason why this wouldn't work, but in practice, it may be a different story.

They do work, as I had to use one recently, but there are problems getting the tyre fixed properly afterwards. In fact, if you read the can, it says on it to inform the tyre repairer that it has been used. I think it sets like concrete and makes their job that much harder to get off and repair. You are also only supposed to travel at a max. of 60 km/h. Do I carry a spare ? Yes. The reason I had to use it was because the spare was flat and no where near a gas station, but what happens if the tyre is cut (as opposed to a blowout, but the same result) ? No can is going to repair that. I think a space saver spare is a minimum. Roadside assistance is fine if you have 1 - 2 hours to kill, but it always happens when you are in a hurry !
