  1. Take as many photos as you can - it will definitely help (and also a good record if you ever want to sell) and label all your parts as they come off. I went to one of those dollar shops and bought plastic containers with lids and labelled everything as i went. You get about 20 containers for a couple of dollars, so buy $10 worth. One container - one area. The one thing I forgot was to also document HOW things came off and in what sequence. It would have saved me a lot of time when reinstalling.
  2. Considering my recent disaster, I would make sure it is also covered for flood damage !
  3. I guess your initial thought of around $25k is probably fairly close, but it is a linited market for these big rigs - but like the early dually's and now with the fuel cost where it is, I guess it is much like the SUV market in the US - stuffed !
  4. Taxes perhaps, but irrespective of age, GST of 10% is stil payable, unless it is a personal import and you can show ownership for X period - not sure the length of time, but you can look it up on Dotars.
  5. You would need to look carefully at the import duties and taxes, plus the cost of converting it and compliancing to see if it is worthwhile.
  6. I have all my cars (15) covered under what they call a Stable policy, with Vigil. Those of you in Victoria will recall the torrential downpour on December 19. Well, photos of my 260 are below - one of 7 I have in this lock-up. You can see on the side of the car how high the water was. The inside just shows all the silt and muck that came inside and the residue left behind. I haven't tried starting it yet as the fluids have not been changed - engine, gearbox and diff, but when they are, which will hopefully be this week, I will see if there are any problems. I advised Vigil and sent them claim forms, and said that IF there is nothing other than cosmetic damage, the value of the claim would unlikely exceed $5,000 for all the cars. Their response ? "If you want to get professionals in we will cover the cost under your policy. Just have them invoice us directly. They will need to do a separate invoice for each car. The value isn’t significant at the moment. If you can maintain records of costs and have invoices provided for work carried out that is basically all we need". I couldn't ask for better service than that. I will do as they say and maintain records and submit a final claim once I know that everything is OK.
  7. I think you just answered your own question. The VicZCar is the most prominent visual, despite the Australasian resource below it, not to mention the actual name. I don't think you will ever change that until you do eventually change it to AusZCar. It would be the same as if you called it the DublinZCar versus IrelandZCar.
  8. Ended up going unsold, but did you see the offers they declined - $300, $2,000, $5,000 and $7,500. How could someone in their right mind send them an offer for $300 !
  9. Taiwan seems to be the country of choice for all manufacturers. My brother has an El Camino and all the panels for that also came from Taiwan - ex US of course.
  10. If the tacho wanders all over the place with the electronic dizzy, all you need is to put in a resistor. Insert a 50,000 ohm resistor in the line going to the tachometer. I put mine right at the coil. Try to get a 1 watt rated resistor. If the tach won't go the full range then lower resistance to 35000 ohms.

  12. And not so cheap ! $622 for a pair of headlight covers !
  13. "Early", or "Classic" Z Cars of Australia ?
  14. or "Live the Legend" !
  15. It's a great read if you have a spare couple of hours ! Good result though.
  16. You will need a gauge to test it, but a simple test is the disconnect the fuel line where it enters the first carb and attach a plastic tube into a graduated jar. Turn the key on and measure the amount of fuel that flows over a 30 second period. It should push about 1 Lt.
  17. Have you checked fuel pump pressure ?

  19. Great ! Will get in touch with them.
  20. It depends to some degree on the amont of usage. If infrequent use, the BP5 is a better plug to use.
  21. Not to take this too far off topic, but do Nissan have an interchange manual so that you can see what parts from different models will fit a 240/260z ? I know the standard parts manuals are hard enough to find as it is, so maybe if an interchange manual was available, it may be an alternative.
  22. I'm not familiar with any online Australian Nissan parts sources that you can get an idea of what is still available. There may be some US sites. It's usually a phone call or email needed.
  23. This might be of interest http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-240Z-260Z-piston-ring-kit-pistons-new-NIB_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33623QQihZ011QQitemZ320188969484QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW
  24. The car is in Malbourne, but I would have it re-chromed in Qld - someone I know and trust. I guess the 240 one is the same as the early 260's. I'm not too concerned about surface rust as long as the bar is straight and essentially ding free.
  25. Must be straight, without any dings. Chrome not so important as it will be rechromed.
