So which dealer is it? I'm curious to see what it goes for as I just missed out on a 2 seater that was for sale in New Zealand recently(still a little sad about that one!)

Yes certainly is an awesome racing clip. I have always been a huge fan of the L series engine. Done right, they are one helluva engine. Long live the L series engine I say. I still cringe a little when I see a foreign engine put into a 240Z/260Z.

Noticed there was a bit of talk about a Fairlady Z 432 for sale in Sydney(wont mention names!) and the price being asked. I thought it a good idea to keep an eye on these gems and post up sales that happen around the world when we see them. It would be an interesting read in my opinion. There were about 420 of these cars ever made for the Jap market. There has been some discussion here on the forums about the much maligned 280ZX(in my opinion) I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread open to discussion and with links to articles about the car. I know the older I got the more I came to appreciate the 280ZX, especially having some creature comforts such as a/c and power steering. With a few tweaks these cars perform admirably and are more than just a boulevard cruiser. Here's a link to an article that features a Fairlady 280ZX. I have never seen the RB crank. But if the L series crank is anything to go by.......really heavy

Back on topic... What will be the end result as far as engine capacity using the L24 engine and 89mm crank that Les Collins is building. Just another thought.....Why not modify an L series crank and turn it into a stroker?

Does it matter what state the car club is in as long as you are a paid up member. It's not the club that issues the rego but the relevant registration authority there in the ACT. All you need is a current roadworthy certificate, relevant documentation etc. You front up to motr reg and get your plates. Might be good to call them first though

For the 280ZX people out there. Thought this would make an interesting read. http://www.uniquecarsandparts.com.au/car_info_datsun_280zx.php I found the figures stated in the section 'why the 2+2' to be very interesting. I always wondered why the 280ZX 2 seater never made it to our shores and the figures in that section of the article explain why. In short the 260Z 2+2 completely outsold the 2 seater version. Go figure!!

Don't know if this has been suggested already, but you could just get the su's re-jetted to suit. Would be cheaper than maybe going down the 'triples' path! But if your budget allows you to go 'triples', please don't let me sway your decision

Unfortunately This purchase has not gone through. With all the costs involved getting the 280ZX here from NZ and then the associated costs of getting it on the road etc, I wouldn't have seen any change from at least $10,000. That figure coupled with the purchase price of NZ$18,000......well I just couldn't justify spending that kind of money.

Looking for some advice on a shipping agent from anyone who has gone down this path. Car is in Wellington/New Zealand and would have to be shipped to Melbourne. Sounds like a lot of blood, sweat and tears have been put into this car and is probably one hell of a car, but I am more interested in a street legal car that will pass a road worthy test easily enough. Cheers.
