  1. My offer still stands when you get that far and require a SS headers for the RB25DE
  2. Yes the Roadsters were Fairlady's too. Fairlady Z (two models standard and deluxe ie the S30 2000cc twin SU powered cars) Fairlady Z 432 (two models standard and the R version. The R vesion a striped down special for racing, lexan windows, fibre glass bonnet, deleted trim, heater, clock, wiring harness....the list goes on but key is the S20 DOHC 2000cc engine with triple carbs standard) Fairlady Z (S31 body aka same body as the late 260z, EFI version, two mobels standard and deluxe) Fairlady 240z (two models I think, standard 240z like we all know and the HS30-H aka ZG version) Fairlady 280z (aka 280zx now I start to loose it as to the models etc) The list goes on and the 350z is still called a Fairlady and I am sure the replacement 370z will also be called a Fairlady in the home market.
  3. After all you effort and pics/inspiration just keeping the RB25DE and installing it later is thanks enough. Pleased to help out - and if Dad still works for AirNZ when you get back to this stage we can get the shipping at the right price too I hope.
  4. Well I could not find it last night - it might take me some time to find the pic again - I should have saved the image....never mind I know it can be done as I did see it - however it was for small children only or midgets.
  5. Yes I recall seeing a car like that, I think it was on a Japanese website - it was a Fairlady Z (not sure which version if it was the same body as the 240z aka S30 or the later 260z 2 seater body aka S31 as it was known in Japan) I will see if I can find out more about the dicky seat in the back of a 2 seater
  6. how did you get that picture of me Just so you all know I have over 43 lamb's this season from my 40 odd ewes so I have quite the flock on the little farm just north of Auckland - see zoomed out google map of my house attached (and framed small block of land) Anyway this is a little off topic. So don't sell the RB25DE conversion stuff - put the L24 in get it road legal while you save the $$ for the install again at a later time when the funds permit. Hell if you keep it I will sell you that SS RB25DE header I picked for a good price however not sure on the shipping to AU from NZ would be on headers here a link to the headers FYI but this deal only stand if you keep the RB25DE and not to the new owner if you sell it (ie an incentive to keep it) http://nzeder.net/album_pic.php?pic_id=151 now I can keep hold of these until you put the RB back in the car and it is road legal and can afford to pay my small price and the shipping so hows that for a deal - these headers cost $2200 AUD new and I will sell them to you for $300 AUD
  7. think your self lucky your not in NZ we do them every 6 months it is called a WOF (warrant of fitness) and for any non standard mods you need a cert (well somethings are ok, like standard engine with mods but power not increased by 20% from factory ie remove twin SU and stock manifolds install triples and a header is ok, install lowered springs that are captive and designed for the car ie King lows for the 240z etc are ok so long as the car has 100mm of ground clearance etc) anything else brake upgrade, adjustable suspension, engine upgrade all need certs. The 20% rule is for things like larger turbo's + chips etc that will increase power by more than 20% on the stock engine this is so the engineer can ensure brakes/suspension etc are upgraded to match....blah....blah And all this get checked every 6 months cost us $40 each time
  8. The 2+2 has some advantages the wheel base is the main one that I can thing of - better for a race car I was once told. Come to think of it, I think the Zed's that do/did the salt-flats in the US for landspeed were 2+2 for this reason. You could tell them that a Zed 2+2 can fit real sized people in the back unlike the Rx7, Porsches etc of the same era. And if weight is their issue just put a L28ET for extra HP, or RB30DET or V8 something - how much power do you want. Also show them pics of that 2+2 that showed up on here from Ireland (grey with 17" rims and ZG flares, lowered - looked the business that's for sure) so the Bus can look good.
  9. Typical Ozzie lol only joking - they were more popular in the USA most 280zx are 2 seater there with the 2+2 the odd one out - not sure why our markets were the other way around, and in the Ozzie's case Nissan did not even sell the 2 seater. In fact Nissan Oz missed out on a number of cool 70's Datsun/Nissan models
  10. Having owned 2 before (here in NZ were Nissan sold them new) they are a great car and I would like to own one again in the future too (if the wife would let me....nah don't tell her like I always do)
  11. Never understand why people do that to a zed - why cut up a good roof line, why introduce a potential for leaking (well in Australia Rain is not an issue - you guys need rain, unlike NZ water/rain can be a problem), just left the roof alone, sell me the car without cutting it up and go and purchase a MX5 or a car with a targa top.
  12. Not all the local rotors are blanks only those produced in large numbers as I was trying to get a HSV rotor in blanks and got told no as they don't make enough of them to pull blanks out of the production run. Also they are making it harder to get blanks as many of the rotors are now manufactured outside of Australia and they have stopped blanks for any rotor that is not made in Australia now e.g. say a VP rotor used to made in Australia you could get blanks then but maybe they are now made in China so DBA will not provide blanks anymore for this VP rotor (again just an example not sure if this is the case with VP rotor). This is what I was told by DBA directly sometime ago. I would not be surprised if in the future you will be able to blank anything - this is why I have now moved to a 2 piece setup, make the custom hat once job done.
  13. Bit of wide open question you have asked there. Prince was for sure as they had an extensive race team/project and developed some very nice engines including the GR8 with was used in the R380 Le Mann's type prototype racer. This engine lead the team to develop the S20 engine which was used in the first Skyline GT-R the KPGC10 (Hakasuka) and then the 432 Fairlady which given this is a S30/Zed site most should be aware of. So as result of the Prince Nissan merger then Nissan continued the performance development started by Prince. Some say that the P in the KPGC10 and PS30 (aka S20 powered cars) was to show the connection to the Prince engine development team however this is just hear say and an internet story I can't confirm or deny that there is any truth to that statement. As for other companies well I believe Fujitsubo were making the performance exhaust setup for the S30 aka 240z/432 Fairlady's etc for what is now NISMO which were listed on the Sport Options catalogue for the 240z back in the day.
  14. I have seen kits for sale in Japan for using the S13 rears on the rear of a 240z/260z - so I guess if the fronts work out then a complete S13 conversion could also be achieved.
  15. MC sizing is very typical for 1.75" 4 pots with the Nissan 2 pots on the rear and 6:1 pedal ratio so I think you are on the money with that one. I have different MC sizing for my dual MC setup but I am running a front caliper with smaller pistons sizing, the rears will be the same size as the Nissan 2 pots - so it would be good to compare when (if) we both make to the track in Jan at Taupo
  16. NZeder

    ID type of L28?

good luck finding a P90 Block - when you do please show us all a pic as I have never heard of such a beast before. P90 heads yes P90 blocks NO
  17. I see you found your way here to Martin - well done
  18. Funny how he can take a in focus picture during the day but at night with the lights on - it is all out of focus - would be good to see them all in focus.....
  19. I need the body out of the body shop (brothers business) so I can start to work on it, it has been there 10 years now.....and I don't have another zed to play with so I just want the body work done so I can put it back together
  20. What is wrong with a stock 350z - why put a body kit on it? (this coming from a man who has put flares on his zed, however steel flares)
  21. Looking good - can say that I have done much on mine either
  22. Another option is the Mini (as in new Mini aka BMW Mini rotor) rotor and no spacer at all. You do need to have the rotor redrilled for 4x103 PCD and the centre hole machined out to 81mm so it will bolt up to the 260z hub (just get some 260z hubs) job done - rotor in the same location and same spec (well close enough) 300zx non turbo rotor = 274mm x 22mm thick and 35.5mm total hat height = space required to get the offset right for toy 4x4 calipers Mini Cooper R53 rotor (DBA 542) = 276mm x 22mm thick and 44mm total hat height = no spacer If you don't want to use a 260z hub and need a rotor for the 240z rotor you could look at the following rotor Honda Legend KA3 rotor (DBA 185) = 282mm x 21mm thick and 51mm total hat height. You will need to turn the rotor down to 274-276mm increase the centre bore from 64mm to 81mm and redrill for 103mm PCD. The 103 PCD is what the 240z/260z hubs use to bolt the rotor to the hub from behind. The wheel PCD is 114.3 The reason for the above rotors is that they are all 4 bolt = easier to redrill for the new mounting PCD I hope this info helps - or you could just have a local machinist/cnc place make you a spacer and get the 300zx rotors just be warned they are becoming harder to get in this part of the world.
  23. Guys just a thought - support a fellow member of this site and purchase Rota RB and RB-R from Ben on this site. Prices a good and for items he has in stock (I think this first shipment is days away if not already in OZ) no delays See this thread for more info http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,2761.0.html But from the first post $259 + $20 shipping in OZ a rim for the 17x8.5 and that is all in AUD (I assume the $950 is US dollars = $750 ish for the rims and $200 for the shipping) So Oz purchased rims = no delays, supporting a local business cost $1116 AUD shipped anywhere in Oz vs $950 USA shipped to anywhere in OZ = $1209 (still a very good price for rims) so Oz sourced rims = cheaper and you keep $$ in the country If/When I want 17x9 and 17x9.5 Rota RB-R I will be talking to Ben even if they will cost me more to ship to NZ
  24. Thanks for the info did not know there was a difference in the JDM and US version of 41. I believe all here in NZ are JDM units
  25. There is a guy here in NZ with a VH41DE installed in his Targa 240z racecar - goes very well. The VH41DE is 1.5" narrower than the VH45 so is an easier install as there will be more room for headers etc. As stated the VH45 internals fit within the VH41 block so you can make the 4.1 into a 4.5 easy. I believe the indy lite series uses the VH41 blocks with serious mods to bring them down to 3.5L with 600hp N/A it would be good to see if you could pickup one of these from the USA and drop that in - would rev like buggery and sound mean.
