Sounds like you have a dead short somewhere. Start unplugging 1 wire at a time & see what happens.

No, and in hindsight we should have painted them. We restored the original and I don't remember the lower trim ring being cracked.

George had done a lot of the big jobs like fitting the suspension, drivetrain and dash. But once #19 was unloaded we took stock of all the parts: Some parts needed replacing, some needs refurbishing and some needed painting. The doors needed to be assembled with their glass and mechanisms, door cards installed, the tail light panels needed repairs and painting, the fiberglass centre console need repairing and painting, it needed carpets, a front bumper, bonnet hinge torsion rods straightened and installed, interior plastics installed... Basically we were going to be undertaking the last 50% of reassembly. So on with the photos in no particular order: The window tinder mechs were seized & in terrible condition, so we bought new T3 items. Checking 1/4 glass frame fitment: Plumbing the fuel tank: TBC...

Bank in September 2024 we moved premises into a larger, more modern factory. Upon finding out about this, George sends me a message: "Now that you have all this space, where do I send #19 to you so you can finish it?" My jaw hit the floor... "If you are serious, I'm flattered and it would be an honor to assemble it. But why can't you do it?" "Life man..." Fortuitously, ZedFest'24 was in November, so George & I hatched a plan: George would put new tyres on the Topy's and pack #19 full of it's parts, and I would come up to Sydney with Rick's enclosed trailer to attend ZedFest and collect #19 On the Saturday before the ZedFest we carefully loaded #19 - which wasn't running at this point - into the trailer. And after enjoying ZedFest on the Sunday, I carefully drove back to Victoria to continue the reassembly...

Order the parts you need & see if they turn up. If you don't receive them in 2 months, reverse the CC charge.

Do i need vicroads approval to install power steering to my 260z
C.A.R. replied to pwasa's topic in Off Topic Discussions
No... You may need a VASS engineers report if you want to be 100% legal. However I'd just fit a EPAS unit and enjoy the light steering -
What's wrong with your originals?

So 3 weeks ago it FINALLY happened! PAINT! My painter took the Z and performed his usual checks, picking up & correcting anything we might have missed, before wheeling it into the booth. This is a full day exercise, with masking up of the bodyshell and panels, before 3 base coats are laid down, followed by 4 coats of PPG's finest clear. Now for reassembly!

I can't emphasize how much work went into getting the chassis back together, but my guys are really happy with how it turned out!

Update time! Late last year (2024) we moved premises to a larger facility, so that slowed progress on the 240Z. However progress WAS made and the Z was moved closer to paint. Since the body was painted in tinted high build primer in October, it's had enough time to cure and we've assembled more of the drivetrain, so much so we are VERY close to starting the engine. But before we do, we decided to sand the primer in preparation for paint. My painter prefers to have the front guards and doors attached and the vehicle able to be moved under it's own power as it's easer to deal with once it's in the booth. So Graeme DRY sanded the primer to 240g with the splines then 400g on the DA: The grey patches are spot primer to cover any cut-throughs. Tony - the owner - wants to come down from Sydney to be here in person when the engine is started for the first time - I'll post a video when this happens.

Stewart at SW Motorsport - about $450 from memory.

They are all the same. It's probably leaking from the thread, so I suggest cleaning it with brake clean & then applying thread sealer.
