  1. yeah it fits, rather nicely i'd say. look on www.hybridz.org (they have a sectioned dedicated to it) or type rb into any zed site's search and ur sure to bring up something! there are 3? members here that have rb's, 2 rb20's and 1 rb25? 260z's are better to do it to to some degree as they are less special and stonger frame. if ur planning on a respray and stuff buy natez shell as it would be a great base to work from. i was in the same sort of boat as you, but didn't start on wanting a zed till i was 18 i guess, got one just before i was 19 but had aimed to do the conversion within 2 yrs...i'm about to turn 21, and it hasn't happened, u get to distracted with driving it and other things ofcourse... there was a guy in melb selling the required oil sump and engine mounts needed, but didn't have any gearbox ones last time i looked into it, and i was going to wait till his was engineered etc and go though the same guy for ease or doing so, but then got distracted by thinking 1jz, and 1uzfe, sr20...as there are so many options you have to decided if u care if its a nissan engine, and if u care if its a straight 6

    2jz in 260z?

dam so mines a jan 76 car...or is there a month in which this came in? lol shouldn't most newer cars have better emissions than our old engines anyway?
  3. dam that isn't good, hope ur not feeling saw for to long! one of my bros mates was riding his bike drunk and went into a tree and waited around for a day before going to hospital with a broken arm amoungst other things so his insurance wouldnt b void... the phone thing is a good idea, only problem is i think i'd have to explain to them how to get my contacts to come up lol

    2jz in 260z?

i'm hoping that within a year i will be going through the same issue, and will be tossing up between a 1jz, 2jz and rb26. since there are a few rhd zeds with 1jz's in them i'd assume the 2jz would fit fine as its outside dimentions must be pretty similar if ppl build up 1.5jz's? russ on here amoungst the other forums, has a 1jz vvti model in his 260z and i belive it was pretty hassle free from what i've heard from him, and he's using the stock ecu and auto gearbox for now, and has a subaru steering rack, i'm not sure if this is because it wouldnt clear the stock one or not? but i'll let him talk about his car, lol i think one of the more expensive issues is getting a manual gearbox, particually one with a halfcut, at this stage i'm leaning more towards an rb26 for my car, but both would be awesome!
  6. these aren't the pics that i was talking about but ones i just did to give the same sort of idea what the person was saying, which i guess is that its just a stylised 350z on the outside. i included the v35/g35 as yeah it is pretty similar also, and i guess the new gtr is going to be a 4 seater?
  7. yeah its kinda bmw'ish, i think its to wide, but atleast it's there for a purpose i guess, the orginal 350z hood looks more 240z to me, but more ugly too. the hood on the z4 m is made by a rapid prototype mould similar to those nail things you put your hand in and it leaves the impression in it, pretty interesting stuff, bmw seem to b ahead of other companies regarding their moulds and precision. i heard chris bangle speak and he said that if the door moulds for the 5 series come together .01mm wrongly a huge dent line is formed, so i think it will be awhile before cheaper companies start copying lol anyways thought i'd post a photoshop i did to waste time of a 350z with 240z proportions
  8. i think my mate is getting (or mayb already has got) the plates SEVIIN, which is a pretty cool use of roman numbers, not really linked to any car though... awesome drawings, and yeah y go freehand when you can trace it in half the time? eitherway its very impressive line work and a sweet way to render in photoshop, i wanna give it a shot, lol where'd u get the a3 scanner from? it sure would come in handy, i'm not even sure if the uni has one, it should somewhere...i guess, it has an sla printer so it really should! how much was it? is it as bad as the price jump from an a4 to a3 printer for that 10cm more of printer head movement, but i guess thats a matter of mass production...
  9. thanks, i'll give them a call tomorrow, hopefully it is just that these places are trying to make more money off the rims so there will be one place that will still sell them for a decent price.
  10. gav if u happen to buy some black ones then change over to chrome i'd be happy to buy them off you . i was thinking of bidding on those ones on ebay but thought the same thing. re the headlight covers, i'd like a set and retro fit two projectors into the bucket behind them instead of being in the 7" housing, kinda like fto/z4/db9 style, but i dont think that will b happening anytime soon...still have the rear lights to do lol. however atm i'm not a fan of the chrome surrond, i think it attracts to much attention to the bucket on most colours, but there are some that look nice, and on a gnose its a must
  11. well this is just starting to piss me off, the prices i've been quoted today are $2200 and $2400, so mayb they get jacked up for christmas? two months ago one of the places quoted me under $1800 so they said they are going to look into whats going on, it was a verbal quote they gave me so....they also said they wouldnt be done this side of christmas most likely anyway, which is fine by me...just thats a pretty big $$$ increase over what you paid for them, the only thing i want different is black centres. at the price i've been quoted today it would b hard to decide between these or watanabes lol are you able to give them a call or find out the name of the place you bought them from sulio? i'll be in the northern suburbs tomoz morning so would be able to drop in and put money down etc.
  12. well my assignment finished up today, so hopefully i get around to some places tomorrow, i'll let you know how i go. i am wondering if i should wait until i know what i'm doing next year first, i'm hoping to do a year of work placement (IBL) at an industrial design consultancy or something similar...anyone know any industrial designers? lol. but i really dont want to put off buying rims any longer!
  13. y not just get one of those retractable blinds, cut it down to length (or get one custom made for the right width) and attatch it in a similar way to them for <$50? if this would be possible i woudlnt mind having one either!
  14. not very far, i was going to ask you if you could check if u can still get the price lol the guy from my work hasn't been able to get a price yet so have basically been waiting for that and to busy with assignments to do much about it, i really want to order them soon so i have them asap and when i get off my p's my plan is to go and put money down on them either thursday or friday as assignment is due on wednesday hehe
  15. nice work, i think a more side car picture would look a bit better though as you coulc then see the sexy profile
  16. have you seen the side on pics of this vs a 350z? the shape is pretty similar, its like they've tried to hack a skyline look from the 350z frame and engine, not that there's anything wrong with that...i dont know if the wheelbase is different or not, and i'm sure they haven't done this, but they shapes are pretty similar and i've read a few times in different things that the head of nissan australia wants to bring some of these in to australia so that would be sweet, not that i have the money to buy one...
  17. agreed judging by what they say about it, and it doesn't look overly like an update and i dont think they'd soften down the intial look they were going for with the headlights etc. i saw a nice black 350z that had an m3 grill on the side similar to what this concept has, and had black work meister rims! that and this one both look semi nice
  18. yeah i was assuming gav240z was gav! and thanks for the offer gav but i'm happy to hold out for some deep dished ones, the aim is to have them for the new year, along with some bigger brakes my master cylinder emptied itself the other day, not good! whats the advantage of z32 brakes over the toyota ones? and how hard are they to put on? hmmm i should search
  19. looks like a nice find and would be great to pick up for that price even with shipping. we should get some pics of them on the guys car! there's no point bidding against a fellow member though! goodluck gav, i hope sprinter ppl dont find the link...but you already have a set? you can get a set brand new without tyres for $920 in the silver colour, its just in the other colours the price gets pushed up to $980 if this changed how high you want to bid!
  20. the places ended up saying it would b more than they quoted etc, so i ended up being discouraged from that point of view, and when thinking about it i wanted them as having the flares and stuff on on p's would b a fair bit of cop attention, but then by the time i got the wheels after waiting for them to b made they would only b on the car for a couple of months and then i'd want to buy the 10" for use with flares, which wont be availible by then, and all up would cost about the same as some 3 peice roh rims and hence making it pointless! in regards to not purchasing some roh rims now due to stud pattern, mayb i'm thinking to far ahead of myself...next year i'm hoping to do a year of IBL (work placement) so will have twice as much money and actully some free time! so am trying to work out what to do with it, besides something boring and logical like saving for a house deposit...
  21. yeah i'm aware of the fact that the amount saved in petrol (assuming i end up spending less in petrol with the new motor etc, which may not be the case depending how i drive) isn't really a reason for a conversion hehe. however i wouldnt want a conversion that ended up costing HEAPS in petrol, like a gen 3 v8 etc. the crx was nearly costing half the price in petrol each week...
  22. yeah i know :s it all depends on whats happening next year and how far i'll have to drive, if i'm going to move out etc etc. idealy i'd like my zed with a newer engine thats fuel efficent on the freeway or just round about, but has power (sr?, rb?, jz? and i dont know what sort of budget i'd want to work within yet so :S) and comfy seats, and nice rims, and good stopping power, and as things pop up i keep swapping between them. i had a good half an hour or so in my bro's go kart (100S) after work the other day around a track near whittelsea and its awesome, legal, and relatively cheap i didn't realise they would b SOO much better than hire karts! although i generally have the luck of having a kart that gets lapped while going down the straight the few times i go... and i should really have an "evans crap" thread or blog or something instead of putting whatever my current thoughts are onto the end of whichever thread it currently is hehe
  23. i'm going to hold out until i put the flares on, i need to decided weather to go 5 stud or stay 4 stud (will depend on if i purchase a halfcut etc, although am thinking i should just order the rims and get brakes to suit, instead of rims to suit brakes, however it would mean i could get some second hand rims off a skyline etc, but finding some in the right width and offset might still be a challenge so not sure) so to make up for it i've painted the centres of one of my set of stock rims black, in this pic the edge still hasn't been cleaned up, and it doesn't have the centre caps which look nicer now! i made use of my left over rust paint and just brushed it on hehe
  24. there's a place near blackburn station i'd recommend, i didn't end up getting mine done there as they were to tight about the rust and wanted me to replace the doors which i didnt want to do if i could avoid it. but on my bro's and also my gf's car he was very good. gf's car at one place had a list of 10+ things, including 3 tyres and windscreen wiper blades, new pads all around and to get the front rotors machined, he only wanted 1 tyre changed and that was about it... i can't remember the name, he's a saab or volvo mechanic, its on the corner of railway rd and mary st in blackburn, my brother will know the name so will update when i find out your car looks nice bruce! it makes me want the rear spoiler
  25. thanks for the info gav, i was wondering how much it would be out of curiosity. i've only ever once touched a welder (at highschool the timing to get a shot never worked out) when i was primary school sometime and i think it was an arc welder, which isn't the right sort is it? the guy's one i used back then sold it so i can't even give it a shot on some scrap i think i'd get my neighbour to weld up the guards, and yeah just attack it with an angle grinder or he might have something that would not destroy it as much. my question was in regards to trimming back to fibreglass flares, i was wondering if there is a better tool to cut it with or not? i was going to try dremeling it today but got distracted
