who did you end up getting to weld it sulio? or is it still not done? i'm just wondering what sort of money it is to get someone to do the welding? i'm wanting to get my flares ready to put on, so i'm wondering what the best tool to use to trim them down is? just a dremel? i'm guessing a mask is a good idea so my lungs dont get filled with glass particles?

it will look nice, great choice! did you have a look at any volk wheels? there's a picture of an orange zed with gold gt-c's or gt-p's on it and it looks sexy! however i think their lowest offset is +3 or so?

i'd just buy this car http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=23019&highlight=fairlady but then you dont get to convert it to RHD

i'm interested to know the prices of each
-
i keep having second thoughts now that i'm about to go buy them, i think i need to re read these threads!
-
here's the orginal resized. i think i just like the black bg thing atm as it puts more of a focus on the car...not that it really works if the car is nearly black too
-
hehe so you photoshoped my photoshop? i think i actully ended up adjusting the levels to make it darker, as i wanted it kinda of black and white with a hint of colour on the car. so just duplicated the layer and then blured it, and erased it where the car is, hence y if you look close there are black blured patches on it, the main one i've noticed is under the number plate! i'm dying to take out my bros DSLR and take some pics when my cars clean, so far i've only got this one photo of the rear badge, and here's a pic of your car i did the same sort of thing to as the pic of my car u edited a bit i think

looks nice, just avoid wrecking it! i'm glad i never bothered fixing mine as i've cracked it once on each side, and keep parking in car parks and forgetting that my car sits lower now. luckily i haven't been reminded by loud cracking noises yet! just keep walking back to my car and noticing it and thinking "dam that was lucky" hehe

car after it was defected, hid's are back in and sealed up better this time. rust along bottom of doors has been bogged and painted black. the car also now has koni shocks and low king springs -
i wouldn't bother with a complete respray without doing what you really want to do (going to bare metal) just as its a waste of time and money (unless your going to do it urself and want to give it a shot and are to worried to take it to bare metal at this stage?) i'd love to see your car in a nice silver with a red interiour as you had mentioned somewhere that you thinking of doing! so unless you're really embarressed to drive around in your car with the body not looking close to 100% i dont see the point, ppl hardly notice the dodgy paint on my car and trust me its more obvious than any of the dodgy stuff on ur car (besides the white dent/scratch) but i think the overall beauty of our cars distracts ppl from the bad stuff! also i think if u you put that nice mirror on your door, i dont think anyone would notice the dodgy paint around it as much. knowing that i want to respray my car sometime in the future i was thinking of doing a rolled on BRE style paint job on my car (black over green) but the existing paint is really to nice to justify it. with your car i'd be tempted to put the other bonnet on wtih it painted flat black, or just paint the whole car flat black to give it a completely different look for a few years

you could always try get one of these i have a nice picture of a car with it on, just can't find it atm. as a side project i've been wanting to get one of the vented hoods, and cut out the raised triangle and turn it upside down, or fibreglass up an intake if that didn't work out, then also make some fibreglass vent things for the vent holes that are already there that are like whats on this car in the same sort of position, if that makes any sense at all
-
dam that sucks, i had my car parked at my gf's while it was caneried and on that real windy day that happened (well one of them) some of her dads dodgy car port roofing came off at one end and put 4 nice deep scratches on my roof and some down one side, luckily they aren't dents for me, and i didn't just pay for a nice paint job! ohwell it was in need of a paint job anyway like yours kind of was? my thought would be just to cover it to stop it rusting, even just with some quality rust paint from bunnings and leave it until you want to work on the body
-
last time i saw the 260z at pick pay and go in heatherdale it still had its bonnet which had the vents in it. although it wasn't in perfect condition...they do however seem to do things half price that aren't in good condition so it might be quite cheap, no idea though. i think it would be cool to be able to pop the rear windows open, i have a feeling it would suck air in from outside though instead of venting it?

i'm semi waiting for nate to get back to me as to what he wants to do, and a guy at work to find out what price he can get them for through some contact. hopefully i'll order them on friday. i'm thinking i should mayb just order a pair of 7" and measure off them but i'm happy using a small spacer and flaring the guards if i have to so i think i'll just order the 8" too, i just put a CCFL in my rear number plate light and it looks sick, and the hids are back in, so after rims i'm going to be happy with my car until the engine blows [/thread hijack]

how many amp is a stock one? does this hopefully fix the lights getting brighter the higher the revs?
-
your best bet is probably the sprinter sites such as toymods.net and ae86drivingclub.com.au, or any r31 skyline sites too? i guess it depends what look your after, i've spent ages looking and have decided to give up and go brand new :? if you want i can see if the places will do a good deal if i'm ordering another set of superlites, just i guess its a bit scary when we dont know if the 8" will fit or not at the back, but since you have flared guards you should b sweet as long as your happy possibily running a 10mm spacer or so, hopefully it wont need one though. atm though its looking like they will b just under 1g for a set after paying the extra for the different coloured centre. but then there's no need to worry about it having some hairline cracks as they are new one of the shops told me that a fair few of http://www.speedywheels.com.au/alloy.htm will fit, the only ones i remember are longchamp and holotype-R fit, and spyder doesn't. not that i'm 100% on what they said as i didn't get the offsets
-
+35 is to high so it would make the wheels sit to far under the guards and hit the struts, hence how the spacer would make it fit as far as i know there aren't many silvia rims that will fit on our cars without spacers unless they had flared guards and weren't very wide, if that makes sense the max offset depends on the width as its a number in mm as to far the offset is from the middle of the rim. apparently -15 to +25 are the normal kind of limits but as i said it depends, and there where backspacing comes in, of which i was given a good explaination of in the superlites thread
-
thanks dave, that helps alot, as that should mean that +12 will clear the susspension side of things if +16 just does as they would sit further out yeah? how did you lip/flare the guards? does it destroy the paint where you do it? or by lipping it do u mean you bend up the ridge around the inside of the fender? just found that thanks to google, along with a how to, and thats what i'm trying to say, and i'm guessing its what you were talking about, just i didn't know the name of it! out of curiosity how did you flare the front fenders? thanks for the info! your car looks nice...are you allowed to just stick your rego sticker where ever you want?
-
hmmm i'd still like to go with 8" if its possible to fit it in there, how much do places charge to roll fenders? i'd only want to be running a 225 tyre on the back anyway, so that would mean the width up the top would be the same so it should clear? its just if it bottoms out it may hit the fender? and ofcourse the rim may hit the strut on the inside...but it could be spaced out with a spacer (is a spacer just a washer? or something more special?) do you remember how much space there was on the back of your car sulio? or just the front for some reason? as the front i'm after 7" anyway, so the difference between +12 and +15 would be fine, but it is weird that it is different from 15" to 16" then! gav would you be happy measuring it if you have time? and reading the offset sticker on your rims too? from hybridz regarding rota grid 16X8 +10 "These wheels may even work on a 280z with stock suspension and a 10mm spacer up front. Check the photos to get an idea. I won't be able to check for sure because coilovers are going on before the wheels." rear: front with with 5mm spacer: but then is 280z susspension the same as 260z? its a pity no one seems to have a set mounted with tyres and stock susspension. i'm pretty sure i'm happy risking it not fitting then use a spacer and flare the guards (as long as its not to expensive, or hard to do, as they will probably end up flared anyway!) i could always just order 1 rim!?!?! hehe i guess a set is more likely to sell if i should choose not to use them...
-
i belive the place belives that the wheel will hit the fender, not the susspension. looking through the pics on hybridz though with them having those 16X8 +10 rota grid wheels it does look pretty close to the shocks, so how do you work out the back spacing? i guess i could find if i look...this assignment i'm diong is stupid...
-
the 16X8 only comes in +12 offset, i've got no idea if this fits or not, they are now saying that i will have issues getting it to fit, where as before they said it could even fit on the fronts...does anyone know if this will fit with this offset? the 16X7 are also +12...and they dont make either of the 16" wheels with the 4x114.3 stud pattern in any other offset apparently
-
i've heard about this car from a 260z owner, but couldn't find any info on it anywhere on the net. i was told its the fastest hill climb car in australia, either way it sounds impressive
