  1. just picked up the car from having the rear shocks and springs put in, sure can feel the difference it doesn't look like its any lower, but when i put on higher profile tyres it should look ok, when i have time i might put the ones i have sitting here on. it also ended up costing more than i would of liked to get them fitted, but ohwell, can't wait to take it for more of a drive, the only thing that i've noticed so far is it slides alot nicer
  2. what finish would you want urs in? as i've been told two of them are an extra $50, the charcol and one of the silvers, i can't remember which one as i'm after the charcol anyway what offset would you want on them? i'm happy to go ask if i have time and i guess any place might do it a bit cheaper, so do you want to try a local place to yourself to decide on finsh and find out the offset stuff? i'll give you a call if i get the time to find out anything, really should b studying for this test coming up...then an assignment...then another thing blah blah blah blah
  3. thanks for the info, looking at more pics of cars here the ones that must have 8" up the front (judging but difference in apperance) look a bit chunky so i think i'll just go for 7's up the front, hopefully i have some time to order them this week
  4. i think those sizes are only possible under stock guards with coilovers... anyone know how much a set of panasports are?
  5. nup they are wider, so it has to be rear lights off either of the 2 seaters
  6. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Uv45y6vkcQ i dont know if anyone has seen that before but looks awesome, and makes it pointless upgrading our locks  i want to give it a shot, i have so many blank keys sitting around (somewhere) from a highschool assignment i did its not funny, we always use our uni id cards to get into rooms around uni as we figure thats y they gave them to us
  7. mines a 260z so prob of no help or relavence, but it has a switch i thought did nothing but it turned out they turn on and off the driving lights, but only when high beam is on, hence y i didn't know  and then there are a couple of blanking plates next to it too, i can't think of anything else that needs switching though?
  8. the best price so far is $240 for 8" and $230 for 7", so around $940 for a set? so that makes them nearly 1/3 of the price of watanabes if ur going to get the lock nuts and centre caps...which i dont know if these come with, but i think they will be quite nice for the price difference, although if i was working full time i'd go for the wat's as they are the real thing, but i just can't justify it. i'm not sure what offset they would have, but they do say offsets to suit most applications so no idea...will ask at the next place. i went to another shop after and they said they only come in 7" and silver, where, which i found out, for another $12.50 you can get black centres but i couldn't b bothered arguing as they quoted $250 each and had had enough and needed to do work... looking at the broshure the guy had at the shop they have redone most of the wheels to look more like panasports rather than the flat disc with some short spokes hehe. so hopefully one day they do bring out the 10" ones as it would be a nice cheap way to get some dish happening. what offset would you be after gav? as i'll get more details and could ask for you, and yeah getting 7" and 8" seems to b the way to go
  9. well instead of still going on in the watanbe thread thought a superlite one should be started. i went to a tyre shop today that had a dedicated superlite brouchure, and in it they had pictured both 16X8 and 16X10 wheels! although when called they said that 16X10 were still coming, and the guy said it may b a year or more So they are currently making 16X8, and they reakon they will fit under both the front and back? personally i thought that with stock susspension the front flares atleast had to be rolled for 16X8 from looking at the rota grid (volk wheel copy) thread on hybridz? My thoughts are to order a pair of 16X7 with 205/55/16 for the front and 16X8 with 225/50/16 for the rear, and then later on if put the flares on i could just get a pair of 16X10 and put the 16X8 on the front, which would be the setup that ash is using on his car with the challenger style wheels yeah? this sprinter is running 15X7 and 15X8 and the 8's do have a nicer spoke shape...i do like the staggered sort of look you get from running the different widths, not that its that obvious so should i just run 7" all round (so they are legal width, but i guess i could aways just chuck on some stock rims if i have issues atm), or 8" all round, as then i can rotate the tyres? i think i will get a pair of each unless another point is raised, and i'll check prices at a couple more shops when i can, although that may mean waiting until my week off...although thats good as i have to pay for the shocks going in this week!
  10. i've pm'd u the details. it's not a secret but yeah...i was after a set of them but they didn't have them, so i got a set of 195/65 r14's and they are on my car atm, but they definately look noticably smaller than what was on there!
  11. i'd love to get rs8 watanabes with a black centre in 16", but not enough to pay the price new for them, and they'd end up prob being more expensive than these ones are new, although imho they do look a bit better. 350 is a pretty good price for a pair, just advertise them as two seperate pairs on a silvia forum. rb30zed on classiczcars has 16" (X7 i think) panasports on his car and is running 225/50 on the back and 205/55 on the front. the wheel place i went to recommended 205/55, and i called that place in tullamarine and they said they have both sizes in stock, for about the same price as i buy my 14" ones from them for so seems good to me. i got my dad to call performace wheels in regards to his company buying the wheels directly from them and they said they only sell to wheel shop we generally manage to get trade but ohwell, i'll get hunting around between assignments, just finished one so needa a break, but have others due to soon....since i dont think i'll bother getting brand new rubber from the shops i dont think there will be much $$$ off they places will do, so far i've found one place thats $120 cheaper than the other so even hopefully i can find one cheaper again!
  12. thanks for scanning that, they look good, but i think i'll wait till i'm off my p's and have a decent income before going for 3 peice rims due to $$$ and p plates :s it's tempting to buy some second hand watanabes, and i think i remember seeing those ones on ebay, but yeah only 2 of them were watanabes or something yeah? (The back two?) and from contacting the australian distributor the rs8 style (the ones at the back) are only two peice, i wonder if they'd just simply bolt back up reversed if they were 3 peice! i went to a couple of wheel shops today and i think i will buy some 16" superlites, should look good after the rear has been lowered too just need to find the cheapest place hehe
  13. i asked him what the offset was and he said "Not sure on offset but front wheels have 31 stamped on them and the rear have 43. Don't know about postage cost. Pick up only." so yeah, i'm pretty sure thats to high to fit, particually the back, but then i thought ke70's had the same offset as a sprinter, which had the same offset as our cars, and were pretty close to the offset of r31 skylines so anyone found a shop that will sell superlites cheap?
  14. i think they look good, does on3go have them or something similar on his blue car? i think mayb it was tri spoke or something, either way i think it suits, and would mayb look better black? but might be to much...
  15. they would of payed for the windscreen though since it was their fault yeah?
  16. you sure give a good argument for what i was already half thinking, then i half want the wide rims, i just held the flares up against the car and it looks soooo nice, but yeah mayb to much attention for a daily driver with p plates! i'm going to put my xenon lights back in so i can actully see again, as stocks are scary dark, so thats making me think since i can get defected for them, i may as well have rims taht i can be defected for...but then superlites still sell for a reasonable price second hand so wouldn't b a huge loss if i changed my mind, and easier to change my mind about the rims than uncutting the flares! which i'm sure my neighbour would help out with so it wouldnt b a huge issue after that write up on hybridz the zed has been pretty cheap to run while i've had it, its just really been petrol thats becoming an issue, which is where it would have been good if a tow truck driver hadn't gone into the back of the crx...although its at the age where things are just starting to break. it would take a fair bit of stuff to go wrong with the zed to reach the price of buying a newer car though! i think i should just hurry up and do one or the other already!
  17. i just dont really want to spend the money on some rims and then be defected for them as the last defect hurt me $$ wise enough! but i guess it woudlnt be anywhere near as bad this time! the rear shocks are yet to go in, as the place is booked up, the rear currently defineatly does sit up atleast an inch higher than the front, and its alot softer too so will be good to get it evened up since the 3 peice are only another 800 or so i think i might just get them, but then i was thinking for while i'm still on my p's get the 16X7 superlites and then in a year or so buy the 3peice wheels and use the superlites for if i ever was defected assuming they would fit over any brake upgrade i did before them, and they themselves are actully legal, but then even that depends on alot of stuff...so sort of talking in circles! i have the flares just sitting here so i guess i should use them! but am considering if it would hurt the resale price of the car as i might have to sell to get a cheaper to drive daily driver for next year (as much as i woudlnt want to, but its still an option)
  18. i'm just confused as the ppl on the honda forums all like their 16" tyres and say that 17" aint legal (or mayb they are saying it effects their vtec? hehe), but the 16's r, and they had 14" stock, so same boat we're in. but then i can't find anythign that says that 17 isn't legal, just the overall diameter track being the outside distance between both wheels or something else? wouldn't this be pretty hard for them to measure? and this would make flares pretty pointless yeah? my gf works on chapel st and gets to watch lots of nice cars get pulled up out the front and get caneried.
  19. it's sad they dont atleast update their data base when proven wrong for the sake of other drivers then... just wondering how the diameter limit gets worked out, as i could only find info on the total rolling diameter. i'm starting to think about buying a set of superlites again as i dont have the balls to cut the fenders just yet, but i'd prefer 16"s, but then if i can get screwed over for having them i may as well just wait. so sulio have u been breath tested or pulled over by the cops with the rims on so they've had an opportunity to say something about them?
  20. i'd give the roller method a shot, saves having to buy alot of $$ in equipment to spray and turns out nearly as well as you can be bothered getting it to there's a thread on here about it http://www.viczcar.com/forums/about649-0.html the thread it all started from http://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=2331682&page=0&fpart=1&vc=1 and a pic of my test door goodluck! ur car looks like it sits nice and low at the back
  21. yep i've got king springs for the rear and koni's to go in, its booked in for the 6/9th to get it done. so nearly 3 months, and an amount of money i dont really want to add up later, the car is back on the road its a good thing though as it atleast forced me to get things fixed that i should have gotten done anyway such as the steering which was loose. so now it has new ball joints, tie rod ends, bushes up the front and on the diff mount and the shocks are halfway through being put in and a few random things, oh and no visable rust hehe anyone up for a cruise on the 23rd of september??? am taking the day off for other reasons so sounds like a good excuse for a drive!
  22. have you had any issues sulio? i guess ur car isn't driven that often though and it doesn't have a P on it to attract negative attention.
  23. http://www.tunerzine.com/articles.php?id=188 it's just so beautiful it's interesting to see his full size grill he musta made, it looks good, but i think it'd prefer it to be chunkier
  24. thanks for the info russ, it was you that got me thinking about it all
  25. i belive these are american based so i dont know how much they apply but http://zhome.com/History/ZColorGallary/index.html http://zhome.com/History/colors.html i was looking through the receits that came with my car and amongst them was the orginal purchase one, and it says my car is green/white, but i'd say its more of a cream, unless its discoloured that much FWIW my car is green #240 and looks nothing like the pic thats posted
