hey i had a thread about this awhile back here when my car turned 30 so it actully was a classic car, GIO ended up being the cheapest by far, i'm the same age as you and all that it effects really is a $400 age surplus thingy coz we're under 24 or something like that, making the excess $800ish. so i have my car insured as a 9g car and it costs me $315 a yr i think, unlimited kms, this is with the buy back option if its written off. all thanks to whatever they call their classic car insurance, which as soon as you mention the age of the car, they said something like "we dont offer 3rd party fire and theft anymore, only their classic insurance which is cheaper anyway" not limited km wise or anything like that so seems like a good deal to me, specially since shannons and anyone else wanted over 1g a year with more expensive excesses etc, and before this i was paying $400 a yr for 3rd party fire and theft! if you find something better let me know as then i'll switch over too, and post some pics up of your car, it looks pretty dam nice in the avatar pic! who have you got your rbz covered under sco_aus? a guy in qld who was thinking of a 1jz conversion found a company that would insure him for $1250 or so full comp and he was only like 21 i think, so thats heaps better than the quote i've been given from just cars for a stock car, kinda a joke huh?

hey, i've been wondering the same thing, but mainly for frustration purposes and possibly the lack of the right equipement and hence that frustration, but still weighing it up well there's the zshop which a few ppl around seem to like, and i've been recommended the 1600 workshop in bayswater i think it is, or a mechanic in ringwood (but i dont know the name), but none out your way so no real help there hehe

well seeing your car with the 17"s and zg flares has possibly changed my mind, and rpmz's 18"s look the right size on his car too, so i guess its all about how low it sits, or in general the lower the car is the sexier it is huh, my car already scrapes in spots. i'm not going to be buying rims for a bit now possibly, i was going to when my tax came back...i just get distracted easily by the nicer things to waste money on, i wonder if some watanabe rs8's like the ones i just posted would be about 2g, coz that'd b nice, but then the roh ones have their advantages too :roll:

thanks lambs, my dad pointed that out to me, and was going to update it so i didn't look like a dumbass, but to late now :oops: would bolting zg flares on also require one? since even though its a factory option it wasn't one in australia? just thinking since the correct way to do them is to cut into the metal undoing it for a rwc would be kinda hard, or could you just stick stock sized wheels back on as the body work wouldn't matter?

yeah the Adrenalin are my favorite but i didn't wanna go for 18"s, they look like those simmons ones, but not only are they to much, but they only made 1 set in 4 stud and aren't going to anymore i think my favorite look is 16's so even 17's is pushing that a bit, coz the modena ones are also nice, but they are only in 18's again...

yeah but they don't compare with the dish on those watanabes, still alright for their price though. nothing for its price and style has caught my eye more than sulio's with a black centre on a green car i reakon

yeah i asked him, and he didn't know if they needed engineers or what, but someone out there with upgraded brakes must know ? i just dont see the point in buying new rotors since i was wanting to upgrade anyway...alot of what is on the list isn't needed to pass the roadworthy, but he just gave a rundown of what he can see wrong with it, i'd like to get it all fixed anyway. the lights are just 7" round ones, and i am pretty sure the bucket bracket bit is the same...in saying i'd sell them i still plan on going back to hid projectors as soon as my car is back on the road, i could live without them for a bit, but not long! i've been thinking of changing over to stanley projectors instead of bosch ones, so if someone does want this retro fit i'd sell it to fund "upgrading"...even though they are all the same brightness...just thought i'd see if someone wanted them since they are sitting here doing nothing for now, me and my bro r thinking of making my dad's company branch out into doing hid retrofits and car computers...but i'm busy enough! atm i have enough to just pay to get it all fixed i guess...but i'd like to do as much as possible myself, and would like it done right the first time. so i'll just wait till after exams and try to manage in the mean time, just my income during the holidays will be limited if i can't get to my workplace!

well i found an answer for my orginal question, which was basically, can you take the centre out of 2 peice wat's and mount them onto whatever width rim shells to effectively make the size wheel sulio has, but as watanabes and... but the bits to widen it cost him $1400US, and then there's the price of the watanbes, so all in all i guess it isn't worth it for 3 more spokes still dead sexy though, has anyone come across 3 peice wheels that look similar? or any other ones that compete with ROH price wise? http://www.kodiakracingwheels.com/shells.html this is the company he bought them from, i called a few "specialists" back when i started this thread and the places just said they'd put it together if i could get the parts from elsewhere...so does anyone know of a place in australia? i wonder if roh would...

well i got the report back, he said he didn't bother putting in that i'd been in for the initial roadworthy, so this way i have however long i want...it seems like a pretty long list considering this same place gave it a rwc 30,000kms ago... front rack boots split cam seal leaking engine + trans oil leak (knew this) centre exhaust mounts loose front wheel bearings loose (already knew this one) front flexible brake lines perished headlight wiring not secure front ball joints U/S (undersize? how can a joint b undersize?) air cleaner pre-heat tube missing (whats this?) LH number plate light n/w (knew this) front brake pads U/S front disc rotors undersize rhf wheel bearing noisy fuel pump fitting loose brake master cylinder leaking rust spots in doors and guards (said this isn't a real issue, would be best if i painted over it though) windscreen shipped and sandblasted (same as when i bought it so thats annoying as it passed then, to which he said well for the actual rwc they might let some stuff slip depending how much is wrong etc) clutch + brake pedal rubbers (they are cracked and kinda falling off) handbrake adjustment rear speakers and wires not secured (hehe i like this one, he said my gaffa tape wasn't enough :roll: i was going to pull them off before hand but was interested to see what was said, surprisingly nothing was said about the screen so thats good, just the fact all the wires are everywhere still) steering wheel loose (already knew this one) RH seat belt frayed (how much r these? its the retracting sort) gear lever boot split (been going to buy one of these for ages) and wiper blades so i guess i knew the steering was screwed, would the rack boots be included in that susspension energy bush kit? i've been thinking about the vt front brake upgrade or one of the toyota ones. so it looks like its time to do something about that, but does it need to be engineered or anything like that? the guy there said it'd probably be best to just get the defect out of the way and then do whatever...but seems like a waste of money buying new rotors how do you fix up the leaks? and the loose exhaust mounts and fuel pump? one thought is to just buy another cheap car for now and wait till i have the money to drop another motor into the car, which would require a better fuel pump and new exhaust but seems a bit extreme...i've come across a 2nd gen crx for $1300 like on the side of a road...no rego or rwc...it seems to run ok, but could be in the same situation again so ? but from looking on ebay my thought is someone would be happy to pay more than that for it, so if it were to have another large list of issues i could just give that a shot, since even the trade in price on redbook is like 3g min

hehe, well it's a good excuse, i'll have to keep it in mind my car's at the roadworthy place where it received its rwc when i bought it, so hopefully things are ok (i'm thinking since the car has to go to vicroads they might care more about the rust? if they say its a problem i'll probably just wait till after my exams and grind the spots down, bog it, then paint it with a roller and that rustrolem stuff, there's a place in bayswater that is ment to sell it, and i'm interested to try it out). i put my stock lights back in and dam you can't see anything! i'm wondering if they will care about my centre console not being held down...and the screen, ohwell if they do care it wont take long to change that back, time to study :s

i've got my car booked in for the place where it recieved a roadworthy when i bought it, so i'll wait and c what happens. having read though what the cops actully gave me the fine i received was for not having a roadworthy car, and nothing to do with spinning the wheels. maybe nate can clear up the "not having control" thing? from what i remember i wasn't spinning the wheels, it may of squeaked but nothing major, so mayb they were just trying to get me worried?

all of 800m from my house! luckily it was just for bald rear tyres, which i new i needed to replace but didn't want to till after exams...but now i got 7 days, fun fun, and i can't drive it in the wet so i'm worried of being strandard somewhere i'm a bit worried as to how tight a road worthy place is going to be, my top dash light on my speedo has just gone out, but i guess you can't tell unless its dark, then i'm not 100% sure my rear defogger works...which i guess they can't test, then there's my headlights which i'm wondering if i should leave them in there so that way that is their main focus, or if i should swap them back to stock ones, the only issue with that is one of my lights had blown so does anyone have a spare they can lend me for a week? hehe then ofcourse there is the rust in the doors etc, so does anyone have a place they'd recommend? all in all after two and a half years of driving with this being the only offence under my name i guess it's not that bad, the only thing is annoying me is i was fined for loss of traction or something like that, which i think is gay as it was an intersection that was bricked so if there's even a slight amount of moisture on it, which there was, your wheels spin, so should i contest it? he said my rear tyres were half on half off the indicator...i guess either way it happened so ? off to northend tyres i go! i was thinking of just waiting to buy rims but ohwell, might push that off a bit now, who knows

i'd say its easy, the only real problem is that they stick out further into the wheel well so depending on how you do it, you have to cut into the part that seals it off, but in short its as easy as dremeling a hole in some h4 lights, drilling some holes for the projector mounting and plugging it in, now i just need to modify mine so they look more like this

deferring a semester would be good! but i'd have to take a full year off due to when my subjects run :S i was kinda wondering why you were working full time while uni'ing full time, coz that sure is a way to have no free time at all! not wanting to get to side tracked but hid's in any reflectors that weren't designed for them is dodgy. here's a pic for comparison. u can get just the e46 projectors for about $100, so i prob coulda done my lights cheaper...but either way it's an upgrade, just one way u'll blind more ppl! good to hear you only want white ones though, any of the bulbs that are above like 6000k produces less light, but i guess the colour is special? i was behind an r32 the other night which had 6000k+ bulbs in its stock projectors and i could see a shaddow infront of his car from my lights

yeah i'm also waiting for uni exams to be over, atm still working on assignments though...and after all that i'll be working as much as i can so i have no idea how much time i'll have nate skip the h4 conversion and go straight to HID, it's well worth the money, i haven't regretted it at all...except maybe the day or two i thought i'd blown them up and would have to buy another set! driving at night is so much better when you can actully see! i aim to bog up the rust on my doors along the bottom and paint it black, either install or have installed the bush kit and shocks and springs, finish off my lights and comp installs, paint up the flares and redo the front spoiler, get part of my bumper rechromed...buy some rims and brakes so i have a reason to put the flares on... ...how long a break do we get again? :?

hey, its a 10.4", they are availible off ebay but i got my dads company to go directly to the company that makes them somewhere in china, it only ended being $50 cheaper though. its a lilliput which is the dodgier brand out of the two main ones used for this sort of thing, i kinda wish i'd gone for a xenarc which are the best ones but they are nearly twice as much...Either way it's alot cheaper than jaycar's crappy little 7" one! the only sad thing is i haven't improved on this setup yet at all...and how long has it been? my sister everytime she gets in my car is like "does it tell you where to go yet?"
