1. here's pics of my screen in its been like this for awhile now, i really need to get a slot load dvd drive, which is going to go in the hole beneath the heater controls, and make up the panel for all the switches, which is going in the hole beneath that, where the switches normally are, atm i just plug all the power in as i need it which is getting annoying i've also bought a joystick i'm going to put in the ash tray and use it as a mouse using drivers that do so, and hence it will give me about 10 buttons i can program for stuff so i dont have to look at the screen and touch it, also its hard to double click and right click on the touchscreen when your driving  also looking to put a keyboard in the glove box so the passenger can type in the name of the next song etc, then gps at some stage, also a tv tuner card so i can get fm radio though the comp, atm i just have a portable fm radio i can plug into the amp thing and ofcourse i need to get a main screen bit that doesn't have a honda logo on it! also i sprayed part of this centre console grey, but its really quite ugly, so i'm going to try to get some of the colour thats on 350z dashes as its nice and brown and am planning on spraying the surrounds of the gauges in it also...when i can be bothered, but this project is basically done and i'm happy with how it is, so finishing it will probably take forever as i'm happy using it as it is, it sure beats using cd's thats for sure and being able to edit the playlist while at stop lights is handy, all for the price of a 30gb ipod video! (so far) it was pretty easy to fit, i'm using the bracket that normally runs beneath the heater controls to hold it up behind the screen to hold it in, i'm concidering cutting up a spare one of the plastic bits thats meant to go where the screen is to make it look nicer but then i have to have holes there for the air to come out. the only bit of the heater controls which no longer works due to the cables being out of place is i can't push the main slider any further to the left...but i never turn it off anyway and while it doesn't look like its on cold air it is well i've said to much, if anyone has any questions or thoughts just ask and i'll post up more pics when its finished
2. that looks nuts! when are you putting your spoilers on? are you able to upload the full res version of the pic to the gallery? i need a new bg! here's my bg for in the mean time - but at 1/4 of the res
3. it looks like the watanabes wont happen just yet they're now at 110,000yen from there 80,000yen starting price, and still a day to go...guess i was to hopeful...if only shipping didnt kill it so much, i'll talk to the people i was going to get to import them tomoz...
4. thought i may as well post them...can you tell i want some?
5. here are the pics of my mates cars...he did all of them himself except the moving one of the corolla and the bmw ones...as you can tell hehe corolla bmw gt4 you should see the pics of his headlights on...so bright (he resells HID's) but yeah getting off topic... the tripod needs to be photoshoped out of the pics huh...
6. yeah i saw your post on classizcars and thanks for the info gav, i went to top performance the other day and they are going to get back to me on their price and measured some part of the struts to see what sort they'd need. they said the advantage of koni's over tokico's is the fact they can be rebuilt...but how much does that cost anyway? more than two sets of tokicos? hehe i'm thinking if koni's are way to much of getting the illuminas when i find out which sort i need (hopefully top performance can help clear this up) and then if i get really excited in the distant future (like when the tokicos need rebuilding so i start kicking myself for not buying the konis) of modifying the strut towers and putting in koni's or doing something like 200sx susspension... but then a lotus 7 replica kit sounds like fun particually to do a custom body on...as unlike a zed it needs improving
7. yeah one of the guys from my high school always gets nice pics of his cars at docklands, generally at night with the lights under the bridge there, i'll try to find some of them on the net... one night i was on the roof of some crown parking and i thought that would look pretty sweet as it would included the top of the buildings, the only issue with night shots ofcourse being you need a tripod...and you'd have to pay to get into it, and getting it empty so it didn't include heaps of other cars could be an issue and then the great ocean road i'm sure would be a nice pic of the zed in its "natural habitat", i've got some of my car at that spot where that insurance add had those old people having a picnic or whatever they were doing, but as i didn't take them on the road or up the cliff a bit the angles not that nice and doesn't really include any water, but next time i'll think about it more and put in the extra effort!
8. so your confident enough now to spray the zed? is there any clear coat on that or didn't bother? where in crown do you work?
9. hehe yeah i heard that it had a quality paint job, as long as its fun, thats the main thing i reakon
10. thanks, they are nice looking wheels, then there's those compomotive ml rims that come in 17Xsomething but i dont think they come in the correct offset...was it you who had a pair of them for a bit or someone else in NZ?
11. yeah this is what i'm wondering alot about, like i'd like my car to go faster, but then i know as it is i have a high enough chance of loosing my licence! but the susspension is starting to scare me a bit, particually compared to my parents gt4 which you can hardly get to roll at all around corners or ever go down a newly paved road and not feel bumps etc the rear lights i'm working on in my spare time, but prob should fix the rust and stuff instead so i'm not in a huge rush to finish them, in car comp i did coz running even just winamp in a car kicks any mp3 player and can set up playlists while waiting at lights and then turn off the screen and listen to it all i'd like seats for comfort and i guess thats linked into performance but then they look cool so...i'd also like to get HID's so i can see at night but once again they look cool with their blueish blinding light and rims really change the look of your car but you could always justify it by saying they are lighter, but i guess the main thing is being able to fit in larger brakes...which could always be a looks thing too i guess and what are you talking about having an s13 so you dont care about looks? i reakon some 180sx's look ugly, theres one round the corner from me thats the perfect example hehe, once when i was around 14 we were parked next to a really nice white s13, just a simple bodykit around the bottom, very clean and i feel in love with them, then i moved onto r32's
12. yeah looks good! would it be worth buying a bundle with their shocks also? or would shipping make it not worth it? would you just run a set of king springs with these? my other question is do i need the 240z style or 280z style? the top of my strut tower things is angled, best pic i have of it atm is this which is certianly different to say gav's car but then the 280z ones would be made for a heavier car so... like would i need these? with or without the springs...but yeah he doesnt' say he ships this to australia so maybe its way to much i just measure my strut things from the floor to the edge closest to the black cap cover (from the back, along the stitching in the material) and its 310mm, i dont know if this helps at all...
13. thanks for that zeddophile, but yeah i did, does anyone on yahoo japan ever? but there are people who will do it for you and thanks NZeder, i realise it will need flares, which is what i was aiming for i just didnt have a good pic of flares that would match up to the pic of my car! i could always get the same sorta watanabes off yahoo japan in a narrower style for a bit cheaper but it aint the same. how did you get yours? or are they brand new? also i saw you bought some fender mirrors off ebay, dam u! i'm looking at getting a set of them too but they sure arn't cheap... i'm happy spending the extra money for something that i'd prefer, but just outta interest how much did the rewinds cost you? according to the local tyre shops the cheapest option for me from them is like $1570, and these should end up being under 2g...but then 3 peice is tempting also, or waiting out for a set in 16", but hey i could always sell these :s are tyre shops happy stretching tyres on? its interesting to hear that they dont cut the guards, as i'm about to do my susspension also i guess that would be an option but i'd love to lower my car basically as much as possible while still being practicle...but then i scrape atm going into my gf's driveway which sucks, but i can always park around the corner
14. if the price is right i think i'll get them, i've also been thinking about the s15 gt spoiler as you can see, i think i'll try to find one for sale to see how it fits width wise...what do you guys think?
15. i went into local wheel shop places today and they all treated me like a KnOb, being rudish and trying to presure me into rims i didn't want, prob on the misconception i'd want the cheapest ones one of them even bagged out superlites  and they both said that they only come in 16X7 atm and told me to get the tempest ones, i told them i was going to put flares on my car so would want wider rims and was happy going 3 peice but one place woudlnt give me an exact price on them and were rather unhelpful about which would be possible. i'd have to say sulio you picked the nicest style thats there - i was quoted $480 per wheel...and then they started going on about how expensive and hard to find rubber would be in that width and they didn't seem keen on the stretching idea... my interest in rim prices was sparked by these which i think i might get...which brake upgrades is it that require 16"? i've been looking through hs30z's gallery on classiczcars trying to see if 15" look ok but i dont know which ones are running 15's! but yeah they are a common tyre sizes (205/55/15 and 225/50/15) so might be the way to go, and in my quests to local jap importers for fender mirrors i came across http://www.techieonthemove.com/ and the guy there has a mad ae86 and is interested in getting a 240z
16. i'm after the rubber bit that goes around the gear stick and wondering if there is anywhere in Aus that sells them at a reasonable price, or if i should just get it off ebay america etc. mines got a hole in it and superglue didn't hold as there is kinda a bit of plastic missing from wear... here's a link to what i'm talking about http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-260Z-280Z-Shift-Boot-New-OEM-1974-1978-74-78_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ10076QQitemZ4604769776QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW[/url/
17. i've got some stock 260z rims sitting here that i paid $70ish for, the rubber on them is gone but i can now no longer be bothered polishing and painting them like i was intending to...if i do i'll just do it to the ones that are on there one at a time and use the spare as a...spare
18. so your now spraying your car urself nate? or just bits and peices? what colour did you end up choosing? sorry if you've already stated this elsewhere...
19. yeah i was reading about the 200sx rear end stuff on hybridz so that would be something else that would be interesting to weigh the cost up of, as i know i need new bearings and that would also cover the brake upgrade issue too i think the two things i'd definatly like to do susspension wise is lower it, hence sectioning the struts but yeah, mayb thats getting a bit excited for a road car at this stage...and have it easily adjustable, as while having stiff susspension is good and all i can see y at times you woudnt want it...
20. thanks for the replies and i'll pm you when i have more time Zeddophile http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=103860&highlight=section+strut thats the best description i've gotten of sectioning struts so far, and somewhere i read something about putting koni mr2 front shocks on the rear and some other cars koni rear shocks on the front, but yeqh does seem a bit excited for a road car but if it doesn't cost much more to do then... i love those strut braces those white 432r's have in japan, i found them on yahoo japan at some stage but only the front ones...
21. i'm being kinda lazy was just wondering what i'd need to buy, basically i think its time for me to do something about the suspension on my zed. i'd preferably like to install it all myself if possible just so i learn, and so far i've been having fun playing with the giant mecano set, as i always wanted mecano and never got any of it as a (younger) kid so i'm thinking either Kyb, Koni or Tokico Illuminas today, the (half?) owners of top performance kids went to my school so my whole high school life i've wanted koni's hehe, but i dont know if i could justify the extra money over tokico's, i guess i should go there and get talked into it? well the money isn't so much of an issue as long as i can justify it over the cheaper options, and i know at this stage i dont want to go as extreme as coilovers, but i am wondering if sectioning the struts is worth it, and how much it would cost? (and please excuse my little knowledge but just wanting to clarify what i think they do and that is they basically JUST weld in a (camber) plate lower down in the struts? and hence you get more travel purely because the car doesn't hit the ground before it bottoms out and it can extend further?) what else needs to be bought? like i know i need new brushes because of the awful noise it makes when i hit those reflectors and would make sense to replace the bits that are worn out at the same time along with better (thicker, adjustable?) sway bars and strut tower braces if it makes any difference, which i'm sure it will, i'm wanting to eventually put a newer straight 6 into my car so the weight distribution is likely to change, so when it does is it mainly just the springs that need changing? to me logically all of it would need to be, but like the sr240z car's running Tokico illumina shocks, so i'm guessing thats where the adjustability of them would be handy also? i know there's no real chance of me being as lucky as gav in finding some for the price he did, and "from the states for $700 AUD with shipping or there abouts. www.xshocks.com has them and I believe its $90 to ship to Australia" still doesn't sound to bad compared to the koni prices i've heard, although when you section the struts you can use koni's from other cars yeah? which aren't as expensive? all up i'd b happy spending like 2g max...within reason but having more money left over for other things would always be a positive! the way things are going this years tax payback i get will be paying for rims i dont think i have the 6g tax free thing taken out atm (had it down as a second job when i started) so its forcing me to save which is good! but rough prices would be appreshiated along with advice on what to go for...i did talk to mr brooks (forgotten first name, he's the one who rally's the 240z) at top performance and he asked me what i wanted to do with my car and basically its driven daily and hopefully will be for quite some time, and i dont plan on ever racing it in any particual class although track days and things sound like fun it is primarily a road car
22. hey, thanks for the replies! i think i will bog them when i have time just as a tempary thing, does anyone think leaving small holes through the bog would help it to not hold in as much moisture? or would it allow condensation to get in? i dont really care if there are holes as you can't really see them, its more the lumps and bits of paint missing
23. it sure does but instead of having flaking green paint with brown behind it (And white from where wax has gotten stuck in there) i may as well grind it down and put bog in there and spray it black, then have a black stripe higher up on the door like sulio does, i think it will make it look alot cleaner...but this is only something i'll do if i get time, and i have a few things on my list that i am slowly working on, the lights are on hold because of the current project which i'll put up pics of soon
24. how much were the door skins? do they fit ok? are they are to fit? i'm thinking of just grinding out the rust at the bottom of my doors and bogging it then spraying the bottom bit of the doors and rest of the car black, just because with parking my car in some semi dodgy places i dont wanna have a really nice paint job and dont want to pay to get new door skins painted to match the current paint nicely. either way i will eventually need new skins or something as there is a fair bit of rust higher up on the drivers door... can you see any problem with bogging the bottom bit for (hopefully only) a few years? as your old doors had been bogged just wondering if you think it had caused a huge build up of moisture and wrecked the other bit? i guess i could always leave speed (drainage) holes
25. look on yahoo japan, there are heaps of them from people and with their sprinters, which i reakon they suit better as they are kinda 80's style. impul and ssr make some nice ones but there's heaps that look pretty much the same...sorry i dont have a link atm
