just thought i should let people know you can now no longer get the really good price sulio got on his ROH rims, as the company has closed/gone bankrupt or something, due to the great prices they have... so this leaves me trying to contact the guy, whos left a notice on the building saying for any enqires on a number, which is the number i had for him, which is turned off...the building is for lease so i have called the real estate agent, hopefully this guy owned the building, and he was doing a bit of modifications to it when i was there ordering the wheels, like putting down floor boards, which i assume u couldn't really do if u were leasing? i called roh and have been told to call them back in a bit, but that when they couldnt get onto the guy they cancelled the order, i'm hoping they can help me out a bit possibly on another set. but basically i shouldnt have put down such a large deposit i guess, as now i need to try to chase that down :oops: the guy a month ago told me that they would of started making them, which roh say did happen, but ? as you can imagine i am rather annoyed as i've already waited quite some time...probably should of ordered them sooner so they were ready by christmas. thanks sulio for ur efforts of getting me the same price, hopefully it all works out lol

look around on www.hidplanet.com, and the real loss of brightness happens at anything over 4300k, which is the brightest, and hence y every car comes from the factory with these bulbs. most people think they need to buy 6000k+ to get the blue look that is on bmw's etc, but the blue is actully caused by the diffraction of hte light i think my mates start from around $350 then go up from there for ones with better components etc, however imho you are much better off buying a retrofit kit off hidplanet for $500+ as then they are the proper brands, like phillips, bosch, ozram, stanley, and come with 12 months warranty, althoguh i think my mates do too. however if this means anything he said the next time he buys bulbs he's going to get 4300k ones (has 6000k atm) and would love to do a retro as they are better, but he bought $2000 jap spec h4 projector headlights for his car and doesn't have the balls to do it lol there are quite a few reasons y using projectors that were made for HID, mainly the bulbs are longer so they are actully designed to spread the light evenly, where putting a hidkit in reflector headlights that weren't designed for it often causes light to hit parts on the wrong angles, they cause really bad hot spots, and blind the hell out of oncoming traffic, i know i get blinded by people in old 4wd's especially! as you can see from the pics the blue/purple colours are caused the diffraction of light around the cutoff sheild, and the light is actully white also kits are known for blowing up lol, and yeah i bought a set of those lights on ebay too, then cut the back out of them and stuck in e46 headlights, althoguh i wish they were accord euro ones (tsx), as they create more blue! ohwell i'll rice them up more sometime

actully just looked up 260z's on the castrol website so will use what it recommends so hopefully i have time after work tomorrow to finish it off and take the car for a spin, then just have my fd seats to put in and hopefully rims soon and rear spoiler

well i finally got off my ass/had time to put the clutch and gearbox back in. i feel like a jackass as i was sitting there for ages turning the output of the gearbox wtih it in neutral as tested that it turned the front spline before lifting it up and it did, but obviously was just the fluid in the gearbox or whatever i'm going to change the gearbox oil as its basically empty anyway, however i looked in the service manual thing i have and it says to use the recommended oil, which doesn't really help me know which sort i need to get lol, so any help with that would be great!

so dave why will tripple webers produce more power? i'm not looking to ever get them, however it would be interesting to know! i would of thought that if you were happy throwing to much petrol into the middle cylinder of the three carbs a dual carb would operate, that there woudln't be much difference? or is it just a matter of how much air they let in? therefore if you have 3 carbs the same size each as the 2 carbs you had it would let in more...but what if they equalled the same area? woudlnt it be the same?

i think what the wikipedia bits saying is that since the fluid (air) is stationary on the walls no matter how smooth it is, it doesn't matter if the walls are slightly textured as all it means is there is stationary air trapped in the indents? that makes complete sense from the fluid dynamics crap i've done and just common sense in general, however i'm guessing the porting the wikipedia bits saying isn't just talking about this? re 240 and 260 carbs, my car had 240 carbs put on it at some stage as the orginal owner kept having issues with the 260 carbs, there are semi detail notes as to what was going wrong with them, so if someone wants i can try to find them again

i guess it also depends which style of watanabes, as they dont look like the type-r's but kind of look like the rs-8's just without the bolts i like them, but not as much as the ones i'm getting lol, hopefully have them and some pics soonish

i've got some pics of that car taken off classiczcars i wish mine sat that low i agree that the flares and front spoilers give the cars a very sexy look, although by the look of it soon it will b harder to find a car without them!

thanks for the tips, this now isn't going to be done till i get back from holidays, hopefully the day after although i assume i'll have to help clean up the caravan etc instead then have a wedding the weekend after, so i really should just do it one weeknight, ohwell, the bus is going alright gio called me today coz they stuff up my address or something, so i asked about an engine conversion again, and they said its fine as long as its engineered, and it would b covered under my $100 extra excess fee for having modified wheels, so i think they are nut cases. i didn't ask if it had to be a nissan engine though, i just said, i'm looking at putting in a newer engine that was never offered as an option, most likely a turbo one, but either way it will have more power, although it will be the same capacity or less and the same type, ie straight 6, and thats what they said, so slightly not what they said last time, i think i'll just leave it until its done, if it ever is! still have a few other things i'd like to do with my money first and have to decide which engine, then find one! i'd like vvti for or a neo engine for the extra torque, although i'm thinking for the extra money this isn't worth it over other engine mods that could be done instead? time for another thread i guess or reading on skylinesaustralia!

lowering the gearbox with it twisting was nealy painful enough i can get a hand from family members so hopefully i wont b stuck there for an hour trying to balance it, although i do plan on either borrowing the thing from rod or making one up with a broom handle which sounds pretty classy lol

i dont really get what these tools are for aligning, so far i've just asked my dad what to do next he tells me and then i go back and ask again lol! hence y i'm asking questions, so yeah any tools/help would be great. i noticed when lowered the gearbox how much it wanted to rotate, and was thinking it wouldn't be much help to get back the way it was, is this what having another input shaft helps with or something else? Rod your help would be great, but dont want to waste your time so might just see how i go first :S at this stage it looks like i wont get a chance to put it back in till sunday week, so the 25th, could you pm me your number and i'll give you a call in regards to picking up the thingy sometime

yeah that makes sense as to why get the flywheel machined, as its not like brake pads which are pretty cheap and easy to replace so it doesn't really matter that your wasting some of it to bed it in. i dont think i know anyone with an alignment tool i'm not going to get a chance to work on it tonight or tomorrow ofcourse, so the update might be awhile off lol, thanks for your help!

my dad was able to get a clutch for me today, and comparing the old clutch to the new about half the pressure plate spring things had gone, well weren't springing back out to their orginal position whats the point of having the fly wheel machined? to make sure its balanced? my dad says its about as worth while as having disc rotors machined...but then...

thanks chris, i'd figured as much, it will prob crack within a month like my new rack boot covers that were a pain to put on, dam oil everywhere lol, ohwell the main prob is i can't b bothered getting so dirty for only a couple of hours and then it will get dark and i dont have enough lighting, so will prob just wait till i'm back from holidays, giving public transport a shot, so off to the bus now :s well tram then bus, or tram train bus, so many options hehe

...i was meaning to install the new clutch and put the gearbox back in lol but thanks for the tip of how to install the dust cover, no idea when i'm going to get time to get one from a nissan, hopefully the blackburn one has one and i can convince my mum to stop in there would you happen to have the part number for it? thanks -evan

thanks for the tip, i'll have to chase one down from a nissan sometime. i'm not going to have a chance to put it back in over the next couple of weekends as am going to be away, so hopefully i get inspired to do it one or two nights this week

i was still trying to find a sexy 4 seater, and prefer the ra28's to 2+2's (well craigs car makes me question this lol), but when it comes down to it there nothing is like a 2 seater zed i woudlnt mind a c210 as a car to screw around in

thanks for ur knowledge where do you get the dust cover from as mine is rooted. if that clutch rod has snapped the clutch wont disengage. pulled the gearbox out this afternoon and the pressure plate looks stuffed so hopefully a new one of them fixes the problem, and the clutch bit that wears is pretty worn, the slots in it are only just visable, so was nearly time for another clutch anyway i guess i called gio today re: engine conversion and they said they wouldnt b able to cover me at all :s so obviously talked to the wrong person lol. will call again another time and approach it differently, and hopefully talk to the lady i talked to the first time!

have it up nice and high on jack stands now but all i can see is that there is no cover over what the manual i have refers to as the withdrawal lever, and i assume gav refered to as the clutch fork? not sure if there is ment to b one, although there looks to be the remains of one there if the clutch needs to b redone and i can't do it i'm leaning towards the idea of getting the gt4 back on the road while i can sort out plans for my car a lotus 7 is still on my mind back there somewhere, but i dont really want to b run over! lol sorry i kinda of use this to think through my options, any input is welcome thanks chris, read that after writing this, thats what i was planning on doing, just wondering if there were any better ideas lol, but good to know what it should be doing so thanks! ohwell time to wait till there's light

what do you mean by investigate? is there an inspection plate i can remove? just looked at the manual thing i have and its not very helpful, although i'm giong to go poke around now, but probably better to have info first lol the clutch fluid is now above the max mark, no idea where it used to be, does this help with diagnosing the prob? i just drove it home from where it was (3-5km) and besides some vibrations you woudln't know anything was wrong, although i was driving it as nicely as possible and trying not to change gears thanks everyone

yeah, was just getting the prices of stuff so i know, and its all i can do while sitting at work, as my cars not hear to go walk out and tinker with thought peak hour traffic probably wasn't the best thing to put it through with the pivot damaged though woudlnt it have trouble disengaging not engaging? people at work have given me a couple of things to check and i'm sure my dad will be of some help, a couple of the guys said it could be the oil thing but my thought is that woudlnt it change the feel of the clutch pedal? spending $500 on getting the clutch replaced seems stupid right now, would prefer to unregister it, which is a pain as just paid rego yesterday, and pay someone to put a gearbox in the gt4 as thats one job i know i dont want to try to tackle for sure! although even in peak hour driving the zed is atleast twice as fun as my dads crappy old corolla, so i'm sure the gt4 woudlnt compare either

just got a quote for getting the work done by the mechanic i use, $140 for clutch, $40 for machining of the flywheel, and $200 in labour assuming its 4 hours of it. i'd like to give it a shot myself but comes down to time i guess, although i have another car i can use, just dont really want to spend nearly $500 on a problem that wasn't there when i woke up this morning lol. but yeah he said that there might just be something cheap wrong so best to have a look first. the clutch had never slipped on me before this :oops: mayb its $300 labour, can't remember, as i htink he said the total would be 480, or mayb he said 380 so with tax 4 something, should call again...
