Yella Z is right if you use the correct size spacer to run the wheel to correct offset you should'nt get the stress from a "levering" effect. It will only happen if you try and push the wheel too far out from 0. ie you put on a really big spacer. I used these bolt on hub adapter's on my car with my first set of 17's. I've heard of many people running them with cars like 911 porsche's etc so they must not be all that bad. My experience was I once had one of the ones I was using get loose on the front wheel. Nothing happened as I felt it at low speed but that was enough for me to buy 3 piece wheels with custom offset that I wanted. The ROH 17x8.5 -6 and 17x9.5 -19, best deal I could find was $1800 new at the time, these days probably at least $2200 for similar deal but well worth it for the piece of mind. Sulio

Toecutter replied to gav240z's topic in Cars For Sale
Yer it is a bit wider on the 2+2, I did'nt think of that but it could still be done by someone thats good with panel beating. Maybe someone will read this thread and take up the challenge! SUlio -
Hi Paul, Thanks mate. Always heaps to do on the car like most members here. Did you look into the Rota's Ben is shipping in. They are aorund the $1000 mark and don't need spacers? All the best! Sulio

240z Shell on Ebay - Comes Complete According to Seller
Toecutter replied to gav240z's topic in Cars For Sale
Ah Nato is that an offer! It's odd that after all these years I have'nt seen a set of 240 rear lights on a 2+2! Now that would get people scratching their heads. Yer I reckon the 240 lights are much nicer than the 260 rears and it's a piss easy job to swap em. Even the plugs were the same so the 240 lights plugged in to the 260 plugs no new wiring whatsover required! Sulio -
the standard offset for the S30 is 0. So ideally you want 40mm sapcer with that wheel but I think 25mm will work. Just keep in mind they might sit 15mm in and it might look abit cheesy and not fill out the arch's to look full. Due to this I reckon your better off getting proper offset wheels for a few more dollars. Sulio

I remember someone telling me recently about 3 young engineers from Ford in Broadmedows that rent a small factory out in the Nth Western suburbs somewhere. Each has his car with his own specific section fenced off. It works really well for them but I'm not sure what they pay. The trick to this sort of thing is sorting out all the "gonnas" from reliable parties that will foot the rent long term. For XRQTR it will most likley be a split between running his business and storage so that might work. Good Luck! Sulio

Properly done rust repairs are pricey so having someone that knows a Z and takes his time would be very good for alot of Vic members here and as you say keep you buying all those good bits for the car. Dave, knowing the condition of most Z's (unfortunatley the term Swiss cheese comes to mind) I reckon you might find yourself busy for many weekends to come if your rep for rust repairs keeps spreading! I've also got some area's that need attention I'll have to see you about at some time! Sulio

Actually the first guy on the left is Darren House, (not sure if surname spelling is correct) but I do have some more pics I'll post later. Sulio

Hi Ben, We were expecting to see you mate as you had advised your were coming. We were even debating whether to wait any longer at the departure point on Saturday morning. I believe you did recieve all the info the other fella's got via e-mail so I'm surprised it was'nt highlighted on your calendar? We also reminded everyone at the Jag Club? Oh well, book in November for the Bulla trip. That will include some great driving on the Balck Spur to get there and should be a magic weekend. I know I really enjoyed last year's Bulla weekend. Hopefully by then I have some adjustable Koni's on the car to firm up the ride in the twisty's. Sulio

Hi Guys, I had a really good time. Having installed the triples, a half cage, 4 point harness's and lowered the seats in the cabin I found the Z a pleasure to drive. Bigger brakes still waiting and some adjsutable shocks due next but very happy with the power and the nice note from the tripples. Economy was surprisingly good, especially on the trip back. Having a nice dry run on the twisty's of the Great Ocean Road into Lorne is always good. We stopped there for lunch and got back into our cars for the final leg from Lorne to Apollo Bay and we did get some rain along the way but still a great road to drive. We had a nice dinner at the local pub followed by many beers at the bar and around the pool table. As last year the accomodation was very spacious three storey townhouse with awesome ocean views and a massive living area, very plushly decked out. Breaky in the morning and after some Top Gear (season 11), the fellas made there way home. Unfortunately it was a little overcast and it did start to rain. I stayed an extra night with the second half coming down Sunday for lunch and weenjoyed a very sunny and warm Monday which meant a dry and run back for me. I headed home about 4:30pm and what a drive that was! The sun was out and seeing it was Monday there was no traffic. I had a clear run from Apollo Bay to Lorne, not one car going in my direction! Thats about 55km of one of the best roads in Victoria. Man was it a nice drive, felt like a Top Gear episode. Not that I was pushing it too hard but just that it was a clear run changing gears only to slow down for sharp bends and not for slow buses. I did have the Mrs following some distance behind seeing she had come up in my VW Jetta so I did my best to behave. As on the previous day alot of my video camera footage was in the wet I decided to load a fresh tape into the mini DV and let it run the coarse of AB to Lorne with some dodgy commentry along the way so I'll try and do soemthing with it. Well I do have some pics and video but it's late so it will need to wait for abit but some of the other fellas did have cameras so they could well post pics before i get these up. Sulio

I think Rota are in the process of finalising the RB-R in 17" sizes, (ie, 17x9.5 and 17x8.5 or 9.0). I think the RB-R is a little bit lighter and the offset difference is made up in the dish and not on the inside of the rim, (ie notice the dish is the same on both 9.5 and 8.5 rims). You can read all about it here. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=123576&highlight=group+buy Never the less thats pretty good value (RB's) to get this wheel configuration at that price and supplied locally rather than piss farting around with o/s suppliers. Good work and getting these in Ben, i reckon they look pretty good with ZG's. Apic below of the RB's. http://album.hybridz.org/data/500/phpOZoF6dPM.jpg

No Good John, Well it looks like we will get a nice winter day for cruising in the old Z's, (anything above 20 deg can get stuffy in a Z I reckon!) Weather report for Saturday: http://www.weather.com.au/vic/melbourne/detailed See you there! Sulio Remember UHF radios if you 've got em and anybody with a mini DV camera can give me the tapes afterwould and I'll try and put a little clip together of the day.

Sandwich Plate between bell housing and motor??? help!
Toecutter replied to Toecutter's topic in General Discussions
Thanks, Dimitri I'll call you on the phone tommorrow. Sulio -
Hi Guys, My L28 came from an auto and is now mated to a 5 speed box. I'm not sure if it's the correct term but the sandwich plate between the motor and box housing does'nt extend down to cover the front of the box. Is there a split plate that can be fitted, I hope I don't have to unbolt the gbox! Sulio
