If you guys want me to promote this thread on the front page let me know.

When I get a spare moment, I'll see what I can dig up. Sorry just be a little busy lately.

Don't fret, there will be deinately be 280zx cars covered. The current website www.vintagejdm.com is a place holder and nothing more. When the site finally (goes officially) live you will see you have been looked after . My biggest task at the moment is organising the website, and doing some final layout changes. I'm very anxious to go live but for a number of reasons over the last couple of weeks have not been able to spend as much time on it as I would like. I also have another front page article for Auszcar.com to still put together. Cheers, Gavin.

Software is a lot different. The comments system is very much like youtube.com in that you can reply to the original post or to someone else's comment. The forum system will be alot different - perhaps more simplified in many ways. The permission system will be alot different so I can basically create a role for say a site-wide admin or just a forum admin. Its very granular. I don't think you'll have too much trouble with it. .
-
Your making progress really quickly with it though. Shouldn't be too long now, I bet you can't wait.

Yep, every Japanese car pre-85 will be included. Forum SW? Not sure what you mean? Some of the differences will be: - Each member can start their own blog (kinda like the project journal here) except a bit more user friendly in that each post will be allowed its own comments and it won't be confined to the one thread. - I'm not 100% sure yet, but I might have the classifieds section separate from the actual forums. This way old ads will expire on their own and I can restrict comments in the classifieds if that's an issue. - Users will be able to comment on articles and rate them, currently not possible on Auszcar.com - Anonymous visitors will be able to add comments (although they will need to be approved by Admin). - Users can tag and categorise their posts - this is an excellent way to categorise the website. Lets say I tag a post Mazda, RX3, 13B engine, Misfiring You will then be able to click on links to any of those words and find similar posts on the site. - Search feature on the website will be more integrated and hopefully return better results. - Users can subscribe to our email newsletter and manage their subscription easily. eg: unsubscribe at any time. - Users will be able to add their own how-to's - much like our Manual Conversion article on this site, except that other users may be able to add / edit / revise and improve these articles. Kinda of like Wikipedia.org anyone can edit and provided admins approve it can go live, or you can review older revisions of the same articles and see what's changed etc.. - There are many other features that are possible with the system, but I have to review and decide on what I think works best. I'm still learning the system as I go, so there are many things I still don't understand. From an administration point of view the system is great in that I can manage everything easily from the 1 place. If all goes well with the new website - I may consider porting all the data from Auszcar.com to the new platform (although still keeping the websites different). Just to ease future management of the website and make my life easier, plus give Auszcar all the same features.

That's great guys, I'll try and upload them to the gallery so that all our events are more organised in the 1 place and not hidden in a forum. I think you did well considering only about 8 of you in total in Canberra anyway. Looks like you had fun.

Hi Lurch, Yep it will definitely be a first, the best thing will be the new system I'm using. Its so flexible and powerful that even though there will be so many forum discussions and the like going on, I should be able to keep it organised through tagging and other categorization techniques. Being a moderator shouldn't be a problem, I can use all the help I can get. The new site will be a worldwide based website - not just Australian. So I'm hoping it will take off. Yes we do have Mitsubishi's Gotta cover the old Starion / Sigma Turbo's and Galant's . My only concern will be server space as we start to grow larger and larger.

Thanks guys, this is a start to say the least. I didn't have Hino covered, I'm ashamed to say I didn't even know they made cars - thought it was just trucks. I guess I always have Wikipedia thank god for the Wiki.

I must have missed this post. Gilltech is absolutely right, you need to remove the centre pin that holds them in place. I managed to get mine out by putting a nut on one end so that it was flush with the thread on the spindle pin and with a soft carboard (piece of box) to cushion it, I hammered it out. I damanged 1 spindle pin with the hammer though and had to go to a wrecker to get another. When I got there, Zworx it was in Melbourne - Warren told me he had never changed over those bushes on a Zcar in all the years he was there. Good luck with it and if you can get the tool, I'd recommend it - will save you destorying them getting them out, if you do damage them though you can get another set on ebay cheaply.

240z Shell on Ebay - Comes Complete According to Seller
gav240z replied to gav240z's topic in Cars For Sale
Probably because the rear garnish doesn't fit the same on 2+2's. -
LOL, what's wrong with Volvo's anyway? Might make a good daily driver for someone though.

haha, I wish. Looks way too nice to start bashing around in rally. Would be a fun drive though I imagine. I like the pins in the hatch to stop it opening up during rally.

240z Shell on Ebay - Comes Complete According to Seller
gav240z replied to gav240z's topic in Cars For Sale
I meant more in terms of selling the car. Even with 2+2's they write "260z 2+2 like 240z" or "260z 2 seater same as 240z", which in a way it is. However when cars get listed on ebay it always seem suss that they put it as a 240z, surely the owners themselves know the difference? -
I was under the impression Jack's (yellow 240z with L28ET) had an FJ20 box, or maybe it was an FJ20 bell housing? I'm not sure, Jack hasn't signed in here in ages and I never see him on MSN anymore. He might still be watching the site??? There is a guy in Queensland called Simon with a yellow L28 Turbo Z. I think he used an S13 gearbox, with 260z bell housing - not 100% sure though.

Ohhh Geebus, you guys got me there. I'm supposed to be a Z expert and completely missed that it was a 260z. I guess that's what happens when you don't look at it fully. I just copy pasted it here for others to see. So many people try pass off 260z's as 240z's though, anyone else notice that? -
Does anyone have a list, or know where I can find a list of every japanese car made from the late 50's through to 1985? I'm building a website to cover all these models and I know alot off the top of my head, but its the ones that are rare like the 140J and 160J and C10 skyline that I want to include and make sure I've covered. My new website www.vintagejdm.com is almost ready . Cheers, Gavin.

Two ways. 1.) Go to www.viczcar.com/gallery/ and create a new album and upload photo's to it. 2.) under the reply button (not quick reply) you will see a + symbol and additional options. Under there you can attach an image to a thread. You can add up to 4 images per post. NB: I know its not exactly user intuitive, maybe I should put a stick post under introductions on how to upload photo's, but I think the problem is the usability of the system, so maybe I'll just try fixing that.

Item Number #170247296933 Starting bid $1,800 Seller Description: Datsun 260Z 2+2, L26 Auto with rebuilt Gas head, so runs well on unleaded, and gas if you want to go that direction, fitted with Holley 350 carb. A very striking metallic purple paint job once graced the skin of this car, included with the purchase is about 2-3 litres of the very same purple paint so you can keep the retro look. The steering wheel is also painted the same colour. There is a spare dash that has been partly restored just needs finishing and painting, the idea was to colour code most of the car. There are lots of parts included, centre console, gauges.. and there is also an L28 motor from a Nissan patrol complete with flywheel and clutch that is available separately and will be made available to the winning bidder at extra cost, it is the desirable stronger block and the head on the car is the larger valve type. A lot of bodywork has already been done to correct previous botch jobs but there is still a bit to do. Best way to see is for yourself so if you are serious send me a message and you can come have a look, I wouldn’t buy a car without seeing it first. Car is for sale elsewhere so I reserve the right to remove from ebay at any point before end of auction. Contact me for details or more photos. Item to be paid for within 3 days of auction end. Item is pick-up only no postage.

First one is red: Item number # 250277917780 Starting at $1,500 Description provided by Seller: 1974 Datsun 240Z. I bought it to restore it but now have too many projects and no space, so i am listing it to see if a better home can be found. I drove the car home on trade plates for about 5 Kms so thats all the info i have. The car was sitting in a house for many years before i bought it, about 6 months ago. I looked for ages to find one that was not a total rust bucket, original, and orange with black. The choke does not work (no cable) so its hard to start, but once running and warmed up runs well. The good: * Great colour, i think best for these cars * I think mostly original, but i am not a nissan expert * Can be driven after warmed up, but bad brakes so dont advise driving it home. (i do drive it up and down the court, about 100M) * If you want an original 74 model to restore this is a good base * Has AC (not working) and Auto, shifts well. * Motor not smokey, oil in motor ok, water in radiator ok. The Bad: * No Choke cable, ring geat slips sometimes, has gunk in one carby, so misses if you open the throttle too quick, but ok if you open it slowly * Brakes bad, i drove it home, the brakes went as i got in the driveway, and bumped the front of the bonnet and bit underneath at the front. (where the little driving lights are) * Rusty....as its an original un-restored car, there is plenty of rust, in the sills, and the inside rear bits where the hatch goes. Pls look at the photos. The photos as part of the description, being sold as is, where is, bring your own battery to drive onto trailer, or if game, can drive short distance home with permit. If it does not sell, i will just keep it until the time is there to play with it..Not desparate to sell it. Pickup from Melbourne North, coburg. Cash on pickup or Bank Deposit only.
