  2. Is the bus getting replaced by a 2 seater Z?
  3. Free bump for Andrew . Hope you find one.
  4. I've been meaning to buy this book. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Books/Nonfiction/Transport/Cars/auction-171857026.htm How to Hot Rod and Race your Datsun 510 / 240z. Seems like a great book for suspension mods etc.. A little outdated now but the principles are probably just the same.

  6. I got a lightened one for $50 but that was a "Costa Special" inside joke there. The Harmonic Balancer is the "pulley" on the front of the engine. Where all the belts run from. You need to match your clutch flywheel assembly with the harmonic balancer. You will probably want to replace the pilot bushing and the rear main seal while you do the clutch. My rear main seal on my car went and caused oil to splatter onto the clutch causing it to slip. Its like $10 but worth doing while you have the G/box out.
  7. How awesome, great work. Perhaps we can put the whole process into a front page article and a how-to guide for anyone else wanting to do it? I love the ignition switch, I want one. Very race car.
  8. Sulio you bandwidth sucker! . Naughty boy hot linking.
  9. You need to get the clutch / flywheel assembly balanced with your harmonic balancer. This prevents your crank bearings from going to crap. Depends how bad your flywheel is, but getting it lightened does help it rev. I quite like it in my 240z, but if it was any lighter I could see how it would easily stall. I guess it depends on your budget, and what you want to do with your money. As a Uni student I'd probably just fix it up and worry about lighter flywheels later, once you finish Uni. Save you money for pints of beer lol.
  10. awww just a bit of fun.
  11. I came across this today and I thought it was worth sharing. Its an hour long so be prepared to sit and watch, but I think it was worthwhile. http://buytaert.net/an-anthropological-introduction-to-youtube Hope you enjoy it.
  12. LOL, yeah Nickelback really annoys me, its so middle of the road.
  13. I've made some fixes for Internet Explorer 6, the drop down menu's in IE6 should now work - although they seem a little buggy from my test version of IE6 (using a virtual machine here). The icons still have a halo around them because IE6 doesn't support alpha transparency properly, but that's a quick fix. Anyone else having major issues with the way the site is displayed?
  14. Thread locked and edited for reasons cited above and to comply with website terms and conditions. Feel free to contact me with any concerns.
  15. lol, no harm done honestly. As they say in Ireland "fair play to ya", which directly translates into Aussie as "no worries mate".
  16. You completely contradict yourself. I can't even be bothered replying. Although I do thank you for your apology if it was directed at me?
  17. Good for you and you could be waiting months to sell a Z at $50K +. Just look at this Z for example: http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,2877.0.html Some or just you? Derogative remarks? Feel free to quote me on what you think is derogative. To be honest I have nothing but praise for the Mazda above, I was more astounded that people were willing to shell out that kind of coin for one. $60k is alot of cash and I know of another RX3 that was immaculate / show car and he was selling at $45k still took a couple of months to finally sell it too. Most RX3's I see are in the $20,000 - $35,000 range and they have had serios money thrown at them. Granted this is a rare car and my knowledge of early Rotaries is extremely limited. Part of which is because there are not really any good resources on these cars. Hence the reason I built www.vintagejdm.com Your right, I do know little about Mazda's and RX3's. But I am eager to learn and I do think they are great cars. Infact I wanted one when I was looking at Z's over 6-7 years ago. It just so happened I bought a Z. I did see a very tidy RX3 not a Savanna and not as unique as this, but all the same very clean and original 10A front and low km's. It was on Trademe.co.nz asking price was $30k NZ. I thought it was reasonable. In fact I'm all about promoting the value of Zeds and without blowing my own trumpet here I think that this site has only helped increase interest in Zeds around Australia, we get over 13,000 visitors per month to this site, here and around the world. Why would I spend countless hours maintaining the site, writing articles for the front page, replying to questions, replying to emails, dealing with jerks who are trying to push legal action for our members comments on some workshop etc.. if I didn't have these cars and other Japanese cars interest at heart? Not to mention that web hosting has been funded by me (with the help of donations received from members - thank you to those who donate!). Don't forget your welcome to start your own website where you can express your opinion. I give mine and I welcome yours and others. Doesn't mean I think I am any more right than you or that my opinion counts more. Frankly I'm sick of seeing cars listed for sale where people try passing off a 260z 2 seater shell as a 240z or where people claim cars are original where they are clearly not. To you it might not matter if its a 260z 2 seater or a 240z, but to me it does. Just like the car above it obviously matters that its original and a special edition, if someone tried to pass off a normal RX3 as a Savanna what would you say? It doesn't matter? I'd rather add my own comments so those who "are not in the know", are more informed. I'm not a concourse expert, but I know they are extremely picky as Zedevan stated above and serious car collectors buy cars that win concourse trophies for that very reason. Even though I'm not a Mazda expert the car in question above had some minor flaws. Notice I said minor. Frankly I'm flattered that you think my opinion carries so much weight in the Z-World. If I had listened to what others said when I wanted a Z I would have never bought one. I was told there too old, not worth the money, don't bother etc.. By close friends and even relatives. If a buyer wants a car, they will buy it and pay a price that its worth to them. At the end of the day if you have problems with the way I run this website there are many ways to get in contact with me PM / Email / Website Feedback section. Telling me to just "shut my piehole" is counter-productive and down-right rude. And it is you who is conveying the attitude of so many other "automotive forums", not I. I think what I've said is fair.
  18. Just wondering, anyone wonder if they are dummy bids on this car? I find it hard to believe someone would pay $60k for this car, simply because it ain't concourse condition. Its good condition, and a good looking car, but did any come in black standard?
  19. Yes but I don't know of any outside of Japan. So true there all modified big wheels and all. I never see any stock ones on the road anymore. I used to see at least a few but they have all disappeared and as you say could be 808 mockup's. I personally wouldn't mind owning a 808 coupe, if I was going to modify it anyway that is.

  21. I'm trying to Play a Mental As Anything song on Last FM called "The World Seems Difficult" but it won't play .
  22. Lets see: David Bowie The Wallflowers Queen Muse Red Hot Chili Peppers Grinspoon The Vines Duran Duran Collective Soul The Tea Party Audioslave Chris Cornell - Solo stuff ACDC Crowded House Oasis Pink Floyd The Verve Thin Lizzy and a few other tunes, but probably a huge dose of David Bowie, he's a huge influence for me. Especially since I picked up a guitar.
  23. LOL and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that either, good for you Lurch .
  24. Oh and hang on to those early Zeds
  25. My word, I thought $30k maybe $35k when I saw it. This is certainly a unique car though from the description. I wonder what impact this will have on the Japanese Collector car market. I think I did the right thing building www.vintagejdm.com looks like Japanese classic cars are at an all time high in terms of popularity.
