  1. Personally I would love to get into some racing. Either in the z or the rx7 I think the z would be cheaper and maybe more fun. I'll be picking all your brains when the time comes. Is there a good online resource that spells out the rules and info so you can research all this yourself?
  2. Pretty sure he's using that 1 to generate interest and to test the waters in the market .
  3. Good project car, if someone wants a project .
  4. Hi AJ, I noticed you sent a couple of emails to the club email about this car being for sale. I see you have now figured out how to advertise on the site. I would suggest you please have a read of this post: http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,1449.0.html It outlines our policies for advertising and will ultimately probably help you move this car to a good home. Thanks.
  5. Hi everyone, I just saw this video: That was 1 of the best races I've ever seen video'd on youtube. No prisoners here and a true photo finish. But where are all the Z's?
  6. I would take some basic spares in advance: - Spark Plugs - Distributor cap - Distributor lead - Fuel filter - basic tool kit etc... Perhaps also have a couple of contacts in between (members who can help out if you get stuck close to their locations etc..) But as others have said the L-series is pretty much bomb proof provided it's got good oil, recently been serviced. I'd be more worried about brakes, suspension, fumes (tail area), rust etc..
  7. Time for the eye-soap Dale I was actually thinking the same thing, the paint does look good for what it is, but as you say it belongs on a speedboat. Those wheels though, I don't even know where to start. It's like that 2 chicks 1 cup video, once you've seen it, you can't un see it.
  8. Alan I should have double-checked my facts on that. I knew it was colour coded, but for some reason I thought it was also fiberglass.
  9. Likewise they look fantastic, would love to see a write up on how you did that and what materials you used etc.. As I'm sure many others would. We could definitely make it a sticky post also for future reference. It's amazing what a difference it makes to the appearance of the car.
  10. I think it can look good depends on the car. The factory gave the hs30-h cars aka 240zg cars a fibreglass rear bumper that was a dark grey shade to suit the nose front. So its period correct in some ways. Personally I like the chrome bumpers for the classic car look though.
  11. I haven't purchased them but I've been told they don't carry the koito markings. Have you tried reconditioning some second hand ones? Finding good lenses without cracks is the hard part. I've got a couple of sets on ebay over the years and I'm going to try polish them up and rechrome the plastic for NOS look.
  12. Very very sad, way too young and although I didn't know him personally it's still very sad news for me to hear. It really gets me thinking we only live once and we have to make the most of it and just enjoy it while it lasts. My condolences to all his friends and family.
  13. Just had a quick look at a Google Analytics report for site speed seems to show majority of page views in the 1-7 second range. With some outliers in higher groups. Is there specific pages of the site that are slow? You forum threads, I'm wondering if you have any other software on your machine like plugins for your browser (ad blocking software?) or firewall software?
  14. Thanks for letting me know guys, this might be a bit tricky to troubleshoot. Just wondering: @John / @Bruce - what browser do you guys use? Can you also tell me if it happens at a specific time of day? For the most part I find the site quick.
  15. Hey Sulio, Good to hear from you, I'll have to catch up with you when I'm back in Australia next. Good to hear your Z got a good home also.
  16. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/1971-DATSUN-240Z-AUTO-COMPLETE-NEEDS-PAINT-AND-PANEL-WORK-260Z-NISSAN-RB26-WEBER-/170714254478?pt=AU_Cars&hash=item27bf5ccc8e#ht_500wt_1202 Rusty green 240z for sale in Victoria (auto) could go for a good price and looks not too bad considering. Engine bay is clean. Bidding starting low around $200
  17. Odd I would check for poor connections. Even at the battery terminals. Get some dialectic grease on the terminals and make sure the contact is good and nice and tight. It could be that the terminal moves around going over bumps and what not. Can you jump the starter with a screw driver? What I mean is when the car won't start at the key can you bypass the key and kick it over with a screw driver by bridging the gap. Bit hard to explain, hope you know what I mean?
  18. Thanks mate, yeah we have been a little short the last 2 months. In other months advertising has helped, but it's hard to predict what we get from advertising every month. Some months it's good other months it's next to nothing.
  19. Hi Alan, Unfortunately due to being abroad I don't know if I can help out yet in person. However if I am around I'll be sure to let you know and get involved. I'll also try and drum up some interest from Auszcar members. Would love to get my Z on the track at P.I I've actually never had my car on a track. I was always too much of a broke Uni Student. Looking forward to eventually getting out there one day.

Due to popular demand I give you....
  21. Hi Everyone, This was sent via the public contact email for the site. Looks like it could be a really cool event and personally I'd love to see some classic air planes also. Here is the message as it was sent to me below: Dear Car Club Committee My Name is Mark Pilkington, secretary of the Australian National Aviation Museum at Moorabbin Airport, http://www.aarg.com.au Our Museum is owned and operated by the Australian Aircraft Restoration Group, a community based, not for profit registered charity, the collection was established in 1962, the permanent museum opened in 1964 and is the oldest volunteer Aviation Museum in Australia. Over the last 49 years, the museum has saved a number of significant examples of Australia's aviation heritage, and with nearly 50 aircraft on display, in storage or under restoration, and over 20 engines on display, the Museum is one of the largest in Australia. We would like to extend an invitation to your club and your members to attend, or even display, at our up and coming Wings & Wheels Exotic Car Show on 12 - 13 November. Wings and Wheels is the museum’s annual motoring show that celebrates the many links between aviation and automobiles. You’ll see a range of classic cars, famous racing cars, vintage and veteran cars, and always, something unusual. This year a collection of exotic and rare examples of the automotive world will be on show ranging from Bugatti and Ferrari sports and touring cars through to Formula I cars from the 1970s. This display of exotic automobiles is set among the historic aircraft of the museum and several of the museum’s aircraft will have cockpits open for inspection and there is also the opportunity to examine recently acquired exhibits such as the rare WW2 Australian built DAP Beaufort Bomber, and the Ansett Collection of historic aircraft engines. At this stage we’re still adding more of these exotic machines to the list of exhibits, so check our website http://aarg.com.au/events-wings&wheels2011.htm nearer the event to see an update on the world-class assembly of motoring greats we’re lining up for you. In the meantime, be sure to note that weekend in your calendar. Please note, due to the special nature of these exhibits a special exhibition entry fee applies of $25 Family, $12.50 Adults, $5 Children/Concessions,Children under 6 free Attached is a Wings & Wheels 2011 flyer in PDF form should you wish to forward it electronically to your members, or reproduce it in any newsletter? As a special offer to your car club members, we would like to offer a discount entry price of $8.50 per Adult on presentation of a valid membership card of your club. In addition, if your club would like to make attendance at the show a club event, exhibit a representative car and club display within the museum grounds, or simply display attending members cars in the public carpark we would be pleased to know of those plans - please contact Museum Chairman Graham Malcolm on 0433983798 for further information. Regards Mark Pilkington Secretary, Australian National Aviation Museum 0418 174 957
  22. +1 - I was looking at them for the FD rx7 because they are thin enough for cars like the S30 and FD3S. Also tend to be cheaper than the Recaro's and Sparco's. How do you find the quality of them etc..?

Obviously swapping in a tired old v8 is false economy and having to engineer it is a waste of time when you can put an L28 in for much less and find bolt on mods i.e extractors, carbs, electronic ignition etc.. which will probably produce more power and less headaches. So you have money to burn literally on destroying tyres, driveshafts, axles etc.. but don't want to spend a few dollars on a good motor?
  24. Alan is the NDSOC organising the 2013 event? If so may I suggest asking for more help from Auszcar in terms of promotion? I feel that in the last couple of years this site was not leveraged to it's full extent. I would be happy to help promote it via front page news and setting up a page if req. Can also do banner advertising on the site (no charge of course). We may also be able to do a mail out to members etc... really drum up enthusiasm and interest. I was just never asked in the past or only contacted once or twice for a couple of small things. I found it a bit odd personally. Just a suggestion to whoever is organising the event, feel free to reach out to me. I'm eager to help.
  25. Welcome and good luck. I thought your username was some spam bot trying to post porn links at first though . You should be able to find a shagged 2+2 on a budget. Although as you mentioned sometimes it's worth spending a bit more in the beginning and saving a lot more in the long run.
