  1. 240z drag car. http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/penrith/other-automotive/240z-drag-car/1040120657 Asking $25k
  2. I'm sure if you try hard enough you could get a NOS bonnet from Nissan still? If not I've got some fabrication work to do.
  3. It looks like a great example. You could always import compliance would be a breeze.
  4. More importantly, is it a true story?
  5. Oh dear this is how it starts. Just don't get too carried away with the rest if you want it on the road again. It can be a slippery slope. Let me know if you need a hand with anything also?
  6. So awesome, if only I had that sort of change laying around. Next to the S20, this has gotta be a favorite of mine.
  7. Yeah ditto to said above. I would care about concourse either but you have to make it relatively safe to put on the road. It looks pretty rusted.. If you have the space to do a full restored and your parents don't need the garage for 10 years you could always work that way though. I would buy a cheap run about car good on fuel to get around in and moonlight as a car restorer in your spare time. In 5 years you would have a nice 240z on the road. The trick is not to get carried away with modifying keep it stock and it will cost a lot less. I think we all fall into that trap though.
  8. Oh and same thing with tai light garnish mine is slightly bent but I'd want to check in person to compare with what I have so don't hold for me. If you have it when I'm back I'll check it out then. I have plenty of other parts I need to source so not upset if I miss anything on this round.
  9. They look like ZX caps. Mate thanks for your email. I won't be needing the heater facial as it has been cut at the bottom which is what both my Zs have had done to fit aftermarket head units. With regards to Dash I am currently in the US for work and won't be back till later next week. If others are interested please don't hold for me as I would want to inspect and compare to my early Dash to make sure they are the same. If you still have it when I get back I'll come take a look in person.. Cheers.
  10. Needed = Nzeder damn auto correct.
  11. As Needed would say the s1 vs s2 nomenclature is really a North American market designstion. Which was based on Federal laws. That is why they have a more hard cut off date / number. Our compliance laws were more lax so it was whatever was in the parts bin at the time. At least from what I've seen. This car is odd ball though the fuel cap lock is a US style one. We never got those big bulky looking things. Flat top carbs usually it is the other way around. The door cards are very stylish. I can't help but wonder is the original vinyl under that carpet? Of course many owners and possibly many changes over the years. Hard to know what is original. Interesting to see what it fetches but as mentioned she needs a whole lotta love. They seem to be coming out of the woodwork lately. It is sad that a lot of them are rotting in someone's field. I just don't understand that myself.
  12. Search term s30z is a good start but it doesn't always return interesting stuff. It often helps if you can use kanji search terms also.
  13. Yes although I haven't bought anything yet. I am considering becoming a broker though in future. Will update once I've met with a fellow member who does this sort of thing.
  14. And then today I found this. http://zeddsaver.com/interior.html Typical...
  15. Hi Chas, I'd be happy to donate mine as a master / template piece. I'm not sure how much demand there would be for this part? But if others are interested then I'd be more than willing to send mine to you so you can make a bunch of them.
  16. You can get the Bluebird mirrors pretty cheap ($200) or so. http://page24.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/q12463497 But the black stalk ones for the Fairlady Z are much more expensive and hard to obtain. I can only see a single side on Yahoo! auctions at this point. Will keep an eye out.
  17. Welcome, not many ZX's around that are as clean as that. Well done on finding it.
  18. Hi Chas, This is the plastic cover for the 240z style voltage regulator. Mine is in 1 piece, but it's looking very dated and dull. Not sure how I feel about paying $60 USD for 1 though. http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/classic01c/12-4064 A couple on eBay at the moment. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Datsun-240Z-OEM-Voltage-Regulator-Shield-/231053205741 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Datsun-70-73-240z-Voltage-Regulator-Cover-/140995988384
  19. Very clean Fairlady Z432 in white. Weird, it has the later console but vented hatch. Love the exhaust set up. Me thinks Mr Safari will be getting that.
  20. Welcome, For some reason your username makes me think you might be German. Is this your brother by any chance? We all gotta start somewhere, finding a good 240z to fix up is quite difficult but not impossible. You'll need to save many monies and find a job, I bought my first 240z at age1 17, but that was in 1998 back then they were hard to find but not that expensive. It hasn't got easier. Search here, gumtree and eBay to start with, but finding a car is sometimes a matter of who you know more than what websites you check. You'll have to pull some strings to find your Z. Good luck.
  21. Interested in center dash facia / heater panel if it's not been cut for a stereo? Closer photo would be appreciated. Is it an early dashboard or later one? Does the cigarette lighter go into the dash or console? Does the speedo start at 20km/h or 0 km/h? Do you know who re-skinned it? A closer photo of the front would be good. If George doesn't want tail lights I'll take em'. Finally is the tail light garnish straight / any previous damage to it?
  22. Do you know if the stalks are made of plastic or steel? I saw a set with slightly chipped stalks (looked like plastic) and no mounting hardware going relatively cheap. Didn't bid as I wasn't certain they were genuine.
  23. What is your budget for Fairlday Z fender mirrors?
  24. @Lurch - thanks for the info and tips. I'll probably have to wait until next week. Flying to San Francisco this week. So I'm going to leave the motor outside of the garage so I can park the RX-7 back in there and under cover. @John - The g/f was almost asleep when I asked her to come out and handle the 'dirty' bonnet. She wasn't too impressed but she understands my enthusiasm. I too hope it doesn't waiver, but I have to say so far I'm really enjoying it. I'm not rushing things (for the most part) which helps a lot, having said that I'm trying to chip away at 1 job at a time to keep me motivated. I'm looking forward to tearing down this motor. I'm also thinking about using the LD28 crank, L14 rods and triple Mikuni's on this motor. I'm just not sure how much coin I want to invest in the engine head work yet. It's got an E31 head on it right, mounted on an F54 block. Will see if any work was done to it. If I can find a P90 head I might start with that instead. I'm sure I'll need your advice when it comes time to do the body work, I'm a total newbie. But willing to give it a go. @Peter - Don't suppose anyone has a photo of what these tubes and bolts look like? I'm sure I'll figure it out. Thanks for the offer on the rattle gun compressor etc.. I have been thinking of investing in an air compressor and rattle gun anyway to remove the diff / rear suspension assembly etc.. I just don't know apart from CFM what to look for in an air compressor. You can get the cheap ones but something that will work for laying down primer and also for painting small things like badges etc.. @Dimitri - yeah looks like a 280zx engine block was fitted to it. Lindsay at Zshop said it was also fitted with a FS5C71C gearbox, I forget which gear box that is though? 240z / 260z or 280zx? Rattle gun would be an awesome bit of kit to have, the amount of times I've had to use a long breaker bar to undo bolts on cars. Plus an air compressor will be helpful for painting, I'm not a huge fan of rattle cans.
  25. What RHD parts are you specifically after?
