  1. I love your car. Looks really tidy.
  2. What does buying the bottle outright cost on average? I know size matters but compared to rental costs what is the difference roughly?
  3. Ok so to answer my own questions I called them. Going to head down tomorrow morning and see what I can organise. Will probably need to set up an account etc..
  4. Hey Fellas, Thread revival! Sorry, but for some reason I thought my MIG was gasless, then went to have a play around with it last night and discovered it has a regulator and is indeed a gas based MIG so I need (NOS! I mean GAS! in Paul Walker Voice). I heard some talk about Bunnings offering a better scheme than renting bottles - buy it outright or something? But I can't recall the details now and if that applied to Oxy/Acetylene or if it also included Argonshield Light (mmm sounds like a beer!). Anyway a quick Googles and I found that BOC is based in Mascot (closest store to me in Sydney). Do you guys know if they will deliver the bottles to me? I understand you have to be careful transporting this stuff and the bottle must be kept upright or instant darwinism can occur. Sadly I have no tow ball on my Suzuki yet so no trailer can be hitched. What's a ma options? Perhaps I should give them a tinker bell?
  5. Seller HappyPizza does a lot of early Z stuff. http://www.buyee.jp/item/yahoo/auction/p405736755 Another seller, similar price. http://www.buyee.jp/item/yahoo/auction/s377822944 Later '260z' style ones. http://www.buyee.jp/item/yahoo/auction/v351851057 Not cheap...
  6. I've seen them on Yahoo! Auctions a couple of times, cheaper than 240z ones. *Edit actually I think they were reproductions.* Not sure, but you can get them for around $600 AUD before shipping before broker fees. So I'd say around $750 for a set from Japan. Good second hand ones are thin on the ground these days. I've seen about 3-4 decent sets in the last 6 years and I bought 2 of them I would sell my half broken drivers side off HS30 00150 photos here. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,4189.msg155293.html#msg155293 If you think you could figure out a way to repair it? More power to you!
  7. I saw these recently, thought they would go cheaper than what they did. http://www.buyee.jp/item/yahoo/auction/e147081422 Just to give you a ballpark figure.
  8. Expect to pay $400 - $600 for a decent set. They come up pretty frequently on Yahoo! Auctions.
  9. I looked at getting a Lotus Exige but compliance costs were huge! So what would originally cost me about 12,000 GBP ended up costing around 40k AUD by the time it was complied. Hence the costs of these cars in Australia already is usually about right. As I say best thing to do is ask the guys at Iron Chef / Iron Block - they will be able to relatively easily give you an accurate figure for the costs of importing such a car. The profit margin is in classic cars, not modern ones.
  10. I think you need to convert it, you can always get a quote from Craig or Kristian at Iron Block / Iron Chef imports. http://www.ironblockimports.com/ They will be happy to give you a break down on the costs so you can decide. With a personal import you need to own it for at least 1 year and have it as your primary vehicle of use in order to be eligible so it's best to know in advance so you can decide on what you want to import. I hear you on the choices though, some cool cars are very cheap over there!
  11. Nice rig, will you import it with you upon return to Australia?
  12. I saw a couple of people bidding on a 240z wheel a while back on eBay AU and the price was up around the $250 mark if I recall correctly (not restored). Obviously an uber rare (early wheel without the spoke cut out's) is worth eleventy million bucks more though.. but in fairness they are still quite easy to get if you look at eBay US (for the early wheels). But the price of them tends to be around $200-$400 mark in various states of condition (most are not restored that well). That's before shipping - which is sadly extortionate in most cases. The good news though is that they clean up relatively easily and don't take much to restore if you have patience. The horn button / pad is usually the part that has had the most wear and tear - there is a plastic retaining ring on the inside that often cracks, but this can be patched up with epoxy etc.. But new they go for around $170 on their own. I'm just glad my wheel was in relatively good condition and cleaned up good. I'm sure you've seen the tutorial on restoring them. I much prefer the earlier 240z wheel w/wood rim to the later 260z ones myself.
  13. 240z parts on Gumtree. http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/granville/cars-vans-utes/datsun-240z-260z-parts-/1053426060
  14. 2 240k coupe's for sale - Asking $15K http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/yass/cars-vans-utes/datsun-240k/1052412807
  15. Yeah gotta be a 260z 2+2 - very unlikely it would be a 280z 2+2 and it's definitely not a 280zx. Not a bad price considering the cost to build similar and it has an L28 turbo! Which is an odd choice for such a replica. Then again the sunroof is also an odd idea.
  16. Try putting that weber carby and manifold on Gumtree and list it for an 1982-85 MQ Patrol
  17. Solex 44s on Yahoo! Auctions. http://www.buyee.jp/item/yahoo/auction/h191179666
  18. Thanks for the clarification, I think my LH door skin is probably ok, but won't know until I have it blasted for sure as it might be hiding a nice bog job. Hence I thought I'd grab this as a just in case I need it spare.
  19. Does that mean I get a second chance draw?
  20. Maybe I should get the 72 240z up to standard? See what all this fuss is about?
  21. Nice looking 2+2 - http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/berowra/cars-vans-utes/datsun-260z/1053258853 Asking $17k
  22. Only 1 hour to go. S30z 5 speed gear knob. http://www.buyee.jp/item/yahoo/auction/e147076300
  23. FYI: Ran some security updates today, so hopefully no more spam.
  24. Google AdWords remaketing must be working well for you blokes. Just don't send any money to Russian Brides lol...
  25. My first 240z was 918 Kalahari Tan with white interior. I say keep it also. Just tidy it up so it looks neat.
