  1. For more Edward Lee Dodgy-ness. Before going back on topic. You can peruse these posts.... http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,9581.msg101569.html#msg101569 http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,3322.msg76210.html#msg76210 Well said Phil.. Or just do a search on Google. https://www.google.com.au/webhp?q=edward%20lees#q=edward+lees Not much nice to be said about him... When I think of Phil, I think of Gordon Farkas from The Big Steal... "Geoff Mullens the boss, but I'm better lookin', that's why my pictures up there." Shame about the quality of those clips, but it's a great movie.
  2. There is no capital gains tax on Classic Cars, as far as I'm aware and from reading this page. http://law.ato.gov.au/atolaw/view.htm?docid=TXD/TD200035/NAT/ATO/00001 What we suspect Mr Lee's is doing is putting his own personal toys down as Business assets or stock and writing off the loss of these unsold units come tax time. Thus reducing his tax obligation, when he has no intention of selling particular vehicles. Let me finish at least 1 restoration project and see how I feel after that! .
  3. 1999 called and said it's no longer possible to find what you're looking for at that price. I'm sure you're going to be really popular around here.
  4. Hi Guys, Does anyone have recommendations on setting up a 12v DC test bench? Any recommended power supplies? At this stage I basically just want to test my Rally Clock and Oscillator box but at some point would like to test other issues etc.. I found this DIY kit. https://www.sparkfun.com/products/12867 and this http://www.google.com/shopping/product/704460733730391405?hl=en and JayCar has some kits i think... http://search.jaycar.com.au/search?w=bench%20power&view=list But I'm not sure if it has everything I need or there is a simpler / cheaper device I could use for just doing a simple test? Just wondering what others use / have used?
  5. Rev you and I are on the same page mate. No dreaming... It is possible.
  6. Yeah but it's not just him on Parramatta road it's all of them! http://short.ninem.sn/2pVycID All Imports Australia -> Sports Auto Group -> DBN Holdings -> and it goes on... Once 1 company goes under a new 1 pops up, same people behind them different name. It's cat and mouse with the authorities but it's obviously too profitable to stop doing it. Edward Lee's keeps the same name, so at least we know who the dodgy bloke is and there is less smoke and mirrors. Not to mention the obvious tax dodging going on at Edward Lee's with the orange 240z that's been for sale forever. As a tax payer (and a high paying 1 at that) it pisses me off no end that people like them can cheat the system. I hate A Current Affair, but at least it highlighted the shonky dealings of these guys. If you're going to buy a Japanese Import or any import get it odometer checked and if you're buying a vintage classic Japanese car make sure you check it over very closely as we know how they rust and who knows what kind of repair work has been done on Edward Lee's inventory.
  7. Ok now that makes sense, the seller of that 260z (Alex) said the new owner wanted him to remove the price from the ad. I thought ok fair enough we can do that, but now that I know it's Edward F^^&&S&S Lee's I want everyone to know he paid $45k or less for it. He doesn't post here anymore because several people are onto his dodgy tactics. He's been found guilty of odometer tampering on multiple occasions. The RX7 community are well aware of his antics, along with many shonky dealers on Parramatta Road. NONE ARE TO BE TRUSTED. https://www.facebook.com/Japanese.Odometercheck Sadly this isn't the first, nor the last time Edward Lees has done this and likely will continue to do it. Oh look a 180sx video was taken down? How convenient Phil? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C_4BA3SrZhA All you have to do is scroll through the JOC facebook page and find several references to Edward F^^^&S& Lees and his shonky business. I've bit my tongue for so long because I didn't have any solid evidence, but it's slowly stacking up against him. So don't buy his "260z" or Fairlady Z in Silver, Don't buy his Bluebird Coupe and don't buy this Fairlady Z with stroker motor or the RX-3 Savanna he has advertised for $70k. RX3 = http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/burwood/cars-vans-utes/1977-mazda-savanna-gt-white-manual-coupe/1069256558 Bluebird Coupe = http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/burwood/cars-vans-utes/1970-datsun-bluebird-1800-sss-yellow-manual-coupe/1022228796 Stoker Fairlady Z = http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/burwood/cars-vans-utes/1976-datsun-fairlady-z-red-manual-coupe/1070728688 Fairlady Z = http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/burwood/cars-vans-utes/1975-datsun-fairlady-fairlady-z-silver-manual-coupe/1030155192 Edward lee's is loved here: http://www.fdrx7.com/forum/showthread.php?t=158 Here is a great example of the shoddy Edward Lee's Tricks. (20,000 km's only) Sure..... It's not hard to find a 20,000 km RX-7 when you wind the clock back eh? There is basically nothing good that can be said about him... I suspect several people in Japan know his game also. For an entertaining read see this thread. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,5272.0.html (HS30-H) had his number pretty quickly..... A personal note to Phil, please sue me for defamation mate, I'd love the Barbra Streisand effect to take place.
  8. There is a thread on here showing a 2+2 roof being grafted onto a 2 seater. They are quite close apparently.
  9. And at a conservative $55 an hour that would still be $2000 AU in labour. So a $1000 roof skin is peanuts.
  10. I've already been helping . http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php?topic=15572 He is in Melbourne from what I gather.
  11. So if someone has a tig welder and argon / helium mix what is to stop them giving it a go? Say you have a few practice heads laying around? How hard is it to get a good penetrating weld and it looks like he shot peens it after to harder the weld? Fiji on Datsunspirit shows N42 heads welded up and reshaped to heart shape chambers.
  12. Yeah I got my rebuild kit and now want to restore all fasteners and polish them up. They look great in your engine bay.
  13. Hi mate, See here: http://www.datsunclassifieds.com/auto-parts/datsun-nissan/body/260z-roof-top-body-125.00-240z-260z-280z-l4376.html Then you could try going through these guys. http://usatoaus.com/ I tried to ask them about a quote on a roof and nobody got back to me. I would call them. http://usatoaus.com/contact.html I will be surprised if by the time you ship the roof to a depot, import it, pay duty on it, get it to your home. If it comes in under $1000 - I'll applaud you if you can do it. I was going to go down that route but came across a 2 seater roof for $200, it's not perfect but it will get me further than my current sunroof and to be honest it is probabyl more expensive to repair the existing roof than find another even at $1000 and the end result will likely be better. I'd ask someone like Rob at Z-Factory (http://zrestorations.com.au/) what it would cost to patch up your existing roof. Anything can be repaired and an entire roof could be fabricated it's not that difficult to shape the metal with the right tools and Rob has lots of experience restoring Z's. He is in Moorabbin also and you can see some of the work he's done on the website. Someone like Rare Spares needs to do roof skins, it seems it was a very Australian thing to put sunroof's in Z's. It's not as common in US 240z's to see them.
  14. You've had enough Gym for Today Mate.
  15. A cool blog for anyone interested in other Classic Datsun's. http://fcyap.blogspot.com.au/
  16. I was trying to find where I saw that information, can't find it now.
  17. So did you buy this yet? Don't hold out on us! Enquiring minds want to know.
  18. That's a home market horn pad, the horn icon was added on later version as part of Japanese rule changes. Early ones just had the Z emblem. I'd say it was probably off a home market S31 (or what we would call a 260z). These wheels restore well.
  19. PM sent.
  20. HS30 10644 on Trademe.co.nz http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/nissan/auction-844336488.htm Rust in all the common spots. Current bid is $3000 NZD and reserve has been met.
  21. I have for sale a recently refurbished Calendar Clock. These differ from the earlier Rally Clock in a few ways, the early Rally Clock was made by Jeco (like the original 240z clocks) but these Calendar Clocks were made by CITIZEN. Nicknamed the Calendar clock because of the date function built into the clock face letting you know the day of the month. It looks virtually identical to the earlier Rally Clock, with the exception of the single knob as opposed to 2 knobs on the front of the clock face. Turn the knob clock wise and the date calendar updates the day. Pull the knob out and turn the knob and you can adjust the time. The other differences are that these do not require an oscillator box to function which can be a failure point of the early clocks. The inner dial also doesn't rotate like the earlier clocks, but it does have the sweep hand motion. Probably the biggest benefit of these is that you can get a very similar clock for a fraction of the price of the earlier rally clocks. Since these are later clocks they are designed to mount in a 260z dashboard, the wiring plug is also suitable for the 260z style plugs. I decided to keep it that way, but it can be modified to suit a 240z if that's your intended purpose. The clock was restored by Ron at Zclocks.com who did a wonderful job on the 2 rally clocks I had restored and also did a wonderful job on this also as I hope the photos will demonstrate. He can also convert the housing and loom to suit a 240z if that's what you wanted to use it with. Although the clock was working when sourced, after running for a while there were a couple of issues, so Ron replaced suspected faulty components and it's been running fine since. These clocks are more common than the Rally Clock, but in actual fact they are quite difficult to come across and seldom come up for sale in this kind of condition. Asking price is: $650 AUD. Refer to photos attached. Photos of another Calendar Clock I had modified to suit a 240z dashboard (not the clock for sale). NB: Rear mounting bracket and loom differences. Clock on the right.
  22. Get a small label printer, I'm going to get a small label printer from Office Works to properly label all the wiring terminals and loom etc.. Much better than sticky tape type labels that can come off easily etc..
  23. Dave take heed in this page. http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/i-have-no-idea-what-im-doing
  24. Well there you go, I've learnt something new about S30z's never saw that translucent green version before.
  25. Nope but I want to read it now.
