  1. Hey mate, are you still working on replacement structural stuff like chassis rails and rad supports?
  2. Quick tip, you buy based on condition of the body with S30z's. Not the mechanical side of it. A auto->manual conversion is not that expensive compared to repairing bodywork.
  3. There was a 240z (or as I prefer to say early S30z) one on Yahoo! Auctions recently. Went for about $1300 AU before shipping. NOS. http://auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/r124614422 But here is the good part, the part no. 62500-N3400 A quick Google Search reveals. http://www.newautoparts.com/nissan/oe-nissan/62500n3400 However Courtesy Nissan is I name I recall from eBay. http://www.courtesyparts.com/support-co-p-384310.html?cPath=5759& Seems to indicate they have it? At around $500 + shipping it's worth a try? Unless you have a later 260z with the change-over support section, but if you have the part no. give it a go?
  4. Hi Guys, So working on my door last night I was going through a bag of bolts I had labelled and was able to cross reference where stuff goes based on the passenger door (was working on drivers side). Anyway I noticed with the dove tail bolts I was missing the little serrated washer that goes behind them. As seen in this pic. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Datsun-240z-280z-Door-Latch-Mechanism-Dovetail-Screws-Set-4-NOS-Original-/271781396402 Now obviously I could order new ones, but going via eBay and hoping to find the bolts is a pain in the butt, has anyone had luck ordering fasteners like this via Nissan directly. I know there are various bolt kits for say M8 - M12 fasteners etc.. but there are certain fasteners on the S30z that are obviously unique like these for example. I'm trying to save as many of the OEM ones and neatly package them for potential restoration via plating etc.. but some are obviously going to be missing over the years and being able to order them new might make sense. So I guess I'm wondering what people's success rate at ordering via Nissan has been?
  5. Restored Japanese Market S31 with factory fitted fuel injection and sans North American 280z style horrid bumpers. Has some optional extras like Calendar clock and OEM fog lights (at least it looks like it), hard to say what it will go for but currently at 2M yen with 3 days to go.
  6. What is your definition of much? NOS bonnets from Nissan used to be $700-$800 new, but they are NLA for a few years now. A good bonnet is hard to find these days, front panels a little easier (or you can get reproduction items also) from Muscle Car Parts. http://www.allmusclecarparts.com.au/webshop/index.php/datsun/240-260z.html?p=1 Not listed on their website best to give them a call. I think someone here (Tai) might have feedback on them. Probably a better starting point than most bogged up and rusty stock panels you'll find these days.
  7. Agreed but I actually prefer the Watanabe's on a Silver car in black. Makes me think I should change my FD wheels to black (Silver Car).
  8. We make allowances for newbies, most of the time .
  9. Moved your thread back to here, no need to revive that other thread. Chassis ID and Engine number located on ID plate in engine bay will tell you if numbers match. You'll need to compare with engine number stamped on motor and that which is stamped to firewall.
  10. If it really is bad, here is a couple of starting points that might be more worth the effort? http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/keilor/cars-vans-utes/1981-nissan-280zx-datsun-2-2-/1071532747 or 2 seater ZX http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/bayswater/cars-vans-utes/1979-nissan-280zx-2-seater-fat-pizza-badwog/1071383365
  11. I wonder if that's Alfadog's old 240K coupe? http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php?topic=13740.0 I think it went to Dubai in the end?
  12. My mum used to drive a Volvo Station Wagon like this. But it was never quite that fast.
  13. Bloody Volvo Drivers. Before I was born my father had 2 different P1800's story goes he sold them when I came along. Something I bet he regrets now, and I really wish he kept at least 1 of them. I think there is a photo of me as a child with the P1800 in the background. Anyway as mentioned post photos of your Z - we want to see it now in all it's 80s go fast bits glory.
  14. Not the first nor the last time we'll see 1 get that money....
  15. LOL, I heard about a dealer in Sydney who sold 1 for around $300k a few years back, Probably regrets that now also. Edit found it here: http://www.drive.com.au/Editorial/ArticleDetail.aspx?ArticleId=56184&IsPgd=0 Also found this.... http://www.uniquecars.ninemsn.com.au/portal/alias__uniquecarsau/tabID__203009/ArticleID__8547/DesktopDefault.aspx I do wonder what happened to the P76 powered 1 though? Seems about 8-9 made it into the country. I'd say they are all but gone now. http://www.drive.com.au/motor-news/masterpiece-toyota-2000gt-20150113-12n3qc.html From the comments section
  16. http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/lancefield/cars-vans-utes/1976-datsun-260z-coupe/1071489545 76 2+2 for cheap. $1,600.00 Yes it's got rust, but it looks relatively straight. and another 2+2 on the other end of the price scale. http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/melbourne-cbd/cars-vans-utes/1976-datsun-260z-coupe-monaro-red-350-chev-engine-supra-gbox/1071564277 Has a Chevy v8. Going for $28k
  17. 240z with RB25DE for sale in SA. http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/mallala/cars-vans-utes/1973-datsun-rb25de-5-spd-240z-coupe/1071627229 Comes with free spider webs, no price listed. Not in a rush to sell . Has early console, but later speedo. My guess is 71 model. Ad says it's a 73 so could equally be possible that someone swapped the console out.
  18. Totally necessary that's the money shot haha.
  19. Think you mean this right? http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,4316.0.html Edit and this... http://www.classiczcars.com/topic/7582-fender-mt-mirror-question/ It's ok I'll read those again.
  20. Second entry into the most epic thread on this site .. In my opinion anyway. Super clean looking early S30z in the US. Comes with it's own website. http://1971datsun240z.weebly.com/ A few dings and scrapes but otherwise a very clean looking little car. Starting at 10K with reserve. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Datsun-Z-Series-2-Dr-Hatchback-1971-datsun-240-z-series-1-77-000-orig-miles-rust-free-car-original-/331485538204 My guess is that bidding will hit $26K USD and reserve not met.
  21. Thanks great info. Post is now sticky. I suspect hazard switches will now see a surge in value on US eBay . Always wanted a hazard switch in my S30z's.
  22. By the way mate do you still have this guard? I'm looking for measurements on where to insert the holes in the guard. I think they might be different left and right sides and perhaps not always in exactly the same place to the mm but if someone has measurements I'd appreciate it.
  23. Good that everyone is happy, but what a shame about point #3. Carbon build up is a bad thing haha.
  24. By the way mate, is that previous accident repair work I see there? Just above where the washer bottle sits?
