How are those beaver panels coming along? I removed my rear bumper tonight and have been unpicking the spot welds on my car, the beaver panel is properly shagged. So will be wanting 1 soon. Happy to send mine in as a template? PS: Apparently the tafe courses are running again this semester, but I still haven't heard confirmation from them yet. Spoke to them a week or 2 ago. If they don't run I'd be interested in such a course.

I got in contact with the supplier but as of yet no reply re: price and shipping quote.

Brake calipers look awesome, but are you meant to split them in half? I know with my FD RX-7 calipers the repair manual says not to split them in half. Is there a gasket in between them?

@Kato - let me check mine off HS30 00150 again, my garnish piece is a bit bent from a minor rear end tap and if the trim is pinched anyway I might try and pry it off and report back.

I think both Roberto and Gilltech are confused. If you look at the photo below and ignore the tail lamp, you can see a chrome trim "ring" around the tail light (not the center piece that is vacuum formed chrome for plastic). This piece can be removed there is a small gap in them (see bottom middle of this photo), but I've not yet tried to pry it off and see if I can do so without bending it badly. A lot of people just paint over this trim or remove them... You be the guinea pig haha, I've had a look and not too eager to try unless I have spares... They can be removed it's just a question of how much damage will need to be done/undone..

Battery tray areas are the same throughout all years, between 240z / 260z. The tray itself is spot welded in place, but it's usually underneath where they rot out due to battery acid eating away at the steel. There is meant to be a plastic tray underneath the battery but most have been removed over the years. Attached photo from my car HS30 00150 - which did have the plastic tray and was spared a rusty death..

So for me I see 2 sides of this. I tend to agree it's a bit outrageous, but on the other hand I think the market they are trying to appeal to is not an Australian market. Rather they might be trying to appeal to a foreign collector where the depreciating $AUD is making these cars cheaper in their eyes. A collector in Japan might just pay the asking price for an original R100 coupe. These are very rare now, especially because so many were abused and turned into fully hectic drag cars, how many original ones are left? The Mazda Cosmo is probably also pulling values up since they have hit the $250,000 USD mark recently and others may be looking for other early rotary's are pinnacle cars and more so as an investment than anything else. You have to remember about 10 years ago when a Toyota 2000GT came onto the market in Australia priced at $350,000 AUD people were saying it was ridiculous and over-priced also. Time has proved they were wrong. Will it be the same for these? Hard to tell.. you can still get a lot of cool classic cars around the $30,000 range. I've always liked the early rotary coupe's - especially when they were cheap. Funny enough I've always hated the way most were modified though. Either way it does make S30z's look cheap right now...

George got some plating done in Sydney for HS30 00019 ask him where he went. I too considered DIY but after reading feedback about it, would outsource personally. Only problem is keeping everything organised.

Oh I was being sarcastic, I love my S30z's and kind of feel they have been under appreciated until recently it seems anyway. But be careful what you wish for, with increased appreciation has come increased prices. As I say to my work colleague with his 944 at least they put the motor in the right end.

Yes that's my feeling also, people are getting priced out of early 911s and coming here (for S30z's), like we're second best or something.

I think because the car won a lot of those trophies in early 2000s when it was restored and has been hidden away ever since. I never saw the car in person myself. Possibly, the photo made it look purple but it could definitely be the carsales car. Interior shot would confirm as it was all shades of grey haha.
