  1. Never seen that before myself. Odd.
  2. May want to have a read here also. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/14290-rust-repair-sections-group-buy/
  3. Hi Everyone, So I've been in contact with this supplier. http://www.datsunzparts.com/index.html Originally I was just going to import beaver panels, but after pricing up shipping by air we discovered it was going to be pretty expensive. The seller is willing to ship via sea (so probably a 30-50 day shipping time) and they are being charged a set rate (cubic meter sizing) regardless of how much we stuff in the space (weight is not an issue). We could literally ship 100 beaver panels for the same rate OR we could ship floors, front frame rails, and beaver panels etc.. They also do 280zx floors. Basically the more we ship the lower each items costs to ship and the better the rate I could do for each item. I was originally going to ship about 5-6 beaver panels, however demand seems to be around 2-3 at the moment, but I'm fairly confident once here they will sell quickly. I'm not sure about the other stuff, as you can imagine I would prefer not to be sitting on these parts forever so looking to gauge interest in shipping stuff here. The big unknown is what fee's I'll have to pay on this end once shipped here, so I can't give final pricing for anything yet. I also have to add my own fee for my time organising, capital outlay, risk etc.. But it should work out cheaper than shipping directly yourself. I've also asked about other potential parts like roof turrets, doors etc.. Not sure if this person can get those or ship those also. So if you're after anything please let me know? Not commitment at this stage as it might just work out easier to ship beaver panels and nothing else but I know a few people were after frame rails and may be interested in floors (although we have rare spares local option also). http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/13810-who-needs-beaverpanels/ http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/9634-240z-260z-replacement-engine-bay-floor-rails-now-available-sa/
  4. It doesn't sound factory, post a pic and we will be able to confirm. The 2 numbers I'm aware of are the block type eg: P30, N42, F54 and the engine number L2X-XXXXXX. Anything else is probably not standard...
  5. Mark Hamil stars in Corvette Summer. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5rdl-VhRSv4 Boy builds hot rod, hot rod gets stolen. For those who haven't watched that far. 13 mins and 3 seconds in. Bit of a Datsun Easter Egg in there. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vSNmQeJtGdI&t=13m3s
  6. No 260z ashtray is wider than 240z ashtray. I have a spare 260z tray in Melbourne if you need 1?
  7. Thanks Alan, I wasn't aware there was a vented and non-vented version of this caliper*. I agree if you're going to upgrade may as well take advantage of vented discs to reduce fade. *Edit just realised reading this thread again that 2 different versions were mentioned. Never mind me. By the way what discs do you use with these calipers? Or where do you source the vented ones?
  8. Yes but an assumption is 1 thing . I was hoping someone who has these calipers might know?
  9. 260z undertray for $25. http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/brisbane-city/engine-engine-parts-transmission/datsun-260z-2-2-under-engine-tray/1097980200 Bargain! Grab it while you can, clean it up and paint it. Bob's your tea pot.
  10. Wondering if anyone knows if the MK63s would clear the standard 14" steel wheels or not?
  11. So for those wondering about MK63 vs Toyota Hilux 4 pot calipers. I asked about the weight difference and here is the result. http://www.jdmjunkies.ch/wordpress/2015-12-11/240z-the-super-rare-sumitomo-mk63-ex-works-brake-delivery/#comments I had a pair of Toyota Hilux Calipers in the past and I can tell you they weigh a lot compared to the standard 2 pots. I didn't install them on my S30z because of the additional weight. I did drive a 260z with them on and whilst the braking force was improved you could feel the weight in the front end. I would not install the Hilux 4 pot calipers myself. The fact that the MK63 design is lighter than stock is pretty incredible also.
  12. I wasn't sure if you wanted it black or not, but from the engine bay it seemed you were trying to capture the original fit and finish. Hence I pointed it out.
  13. This may be back on, got in contact with the original supplier and I am thinking of importing around 6 of these (1 for myself). Will give an update soon.
  14. Cool but the stock colour was a light grey similar to the grille and hubcaps. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/12178-datsun-greygray-paint/ Totally personal preference but I think against the Safari Gold the grey works well. My 2 cents.
  15. This tail gate? If so the car was probably rustier than the photos lead you to believe it was..not a surprise since almost all early girl's are or were before restoration.
  16. There are workshop tours? Interesting.. I'd love to meet him. I see his Fairlady Z432-R replica in the background did he show you the engine and rest of the car?
  17. It is a Nissan Fairlady Z not a 240z or 260z. It is a later car so similar to our market 260z. It looks like TA Auto workshop Ando San is a bit of a legend in the S30z world.
  18. That would be a criminal shame...if true.

Yes A grind came on 240z's. I believe it has slightly more duration than the B grind.
  20. It's a great original car, Lindsay sent me photos of it a week or so ago and we were discussing the rare red interior. A car like that doesn't come around often as you'll all know. Good to see the AM Hitachi radio, further confirming that is the radio our market received through all years. It appears to have the original Nichira exhaust and tip. http://jdm-car-parts.com/blogs/news/16149728-fact-about-factory-muffler-on-early-datsun-240z
  21. Nick that Blue Fairlady Z in Ireland is a car I saw in person and it was not a restoration job. It was in driver condition, good for its age but doesn't look to have changed much since I saw it. 30k Euro is probably a bit high for it. However there are only a handful of S30z's in Ireland. Less than 20 at a guess. I knew of about 10.
  22. RA23 is what I think they must be, because the front looks flat, not slanted. A friend's brother had a TA22 years ago, with the GT Grille and some later twin cam turbo motor. I always liked the car, I was a bit sad when he sold it. He got a modern Honda Jazz because he was sick of tinkering with it, to this day I wonder if he misses that car. I would..
  23. Yes I want to keep my cars as original and together as possible. Although I will be pragmatic where necessary. So if I can't find 1970 date stamped wheels it isn't the end of the world but would like them if they are available. I have got a set of 72 stamped wheels in the US, just need to ship them. I probably won't drive around with the hubcaps on, just have the steel wheels and when at a shown and shine I'll fit the caps. I also like the blank steel wheel look as that's what many people did when racing them in the early days (just removed the caps and went racing). My first 73 240z had the steel wheels/caps and I always regretted swapping them out for 260z alloys. I sometimes see old Japanese cars like Corolla's, Rx2, Rx3's etc.. around my area in the sunny weather and I always like it when they have the steel wheels, original paint hues and rear venetian blinds happening . As oppose to the big modern wheels and workshop stickers and candy paint jobs. As an FYI It's looking like I'll use an L24 block and retain the E31 head on HS30 00150 at this stage also. It's a shame the original L24 block went for a walk, but I might see if I can find a low # L24 block to replace it. I like em' original
  24. The description says it's a 75 model so I assume it's a later S30z not an earlier car. Interior trim is all later, so much more likely the tail lights and hatch were swapped over.
  25. How much does rust cost these days? http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/13116-the-global-z-car-s30s130-market-thread/?p=169036 Sold for 974,000 YEN. ~ $11,200 AUD at today's rate. Looks like it is a 75 model Fairlady Z too! Unfortunately HLS30 00064 has been removed so we won't know what it sold for..
