  1. Hey Elvis is HS30 00643 Another accounted for. I know the frustration mind you, I only get to work on my 72 240z a couple of weeks a year also. My take on it, is that I've decided to outsource more work so that when I am home and get to drive it I enjoy it more, rather than focusing on all the things that need to be done to it. Small projects are good to work on all, like rebuilding indicator stalks, or fixing broken clocks etc.. You can do those in Japan .
  2. Hitachi SUs to suit a 240z. http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/darra/engine-engine-parts-transmission/240z-su-carby/1105736176 Cheap at $250.
  3. Hi Jason, You might also want to look into something like this as a short term option? https://www.taxiboxmobileselfstorage.com.au/
  4. Thanks mate, I do love learning this stuff but it does take a lot of time. Especially because I'm still learning, things can move at a crawl of a pace at the best of times. But I certainly have much more appreciation for good bodywork professionals. This week was a slow week, in that the teacher was busy with other students and whilst he was busy I started to work on a new section for the rear slam panel area, really just experimenting to see if I could shape the area correctly. Anyway I'll detail that in another thread. But it just means progress on the rear hatch was minimal. You will recall previously I mentioned needing to dress up the vent holes more. The right side in the pic below is just the beginning and you can see compared to the left side it's starting to look a bit more refined. The hardest part was getting the curvature of the corners right. To do this I used a solid rounded edge (like a screw driver but thicker) and pushed it into the corners and then whacked it with a hammer to push the lip in the corners into shape. In the photo below you can compare the side i've done (right) vs the 1 that still needs doing (left). Both sides. Compared to the original piece. Left hand side. With all this messing about the vents had some high and low spots, so I spent a good while with a hammer and dolly trying to minimise this. But that is harder to photograph and show here. The vent holes could use a little more tidying up and I'll probably do that next week, but I am also aware that the plastic vents will actually cover these, so they are unlikely to ever be seen. However I want to do it to a high level still.
  5. All I know about fish-oil is generally you want to apply it last, otherwise you can have major issues when painting. I'm not sure how compatible stone guard and fish oil are, so can't comment on that combo much.
  6. No more beaver panels left pending payment of the last 1. Thanks for the interest.
  7. O.S Giken Test Drive.

  9. Ashley mostly supplies parts through his business. Depends on what you need though, he may be able to help out with simple service etc..
  10. Nope....This looks too much like an S15 Silvia. Needs to look more like the Mazda RX-Vision Concept car. More exotic and upmarket.
  11. http://page19.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/x438193969 PZR - Clock blanking plate. Buy it now: 35,000 yen.
  12. Just another case of the OEM parts being superior to so called aftermarket improvements.
  13. I think I was there the day they were getting chopped out of a car, if I recall correctly it was a white 260z 2+2 and you mentioned the rear guards on 2 seater and 2+2's are the same. But maybe they are slightly wider on the 2+2's? I remember it well simply because a car had started to get cut up and you said you told them the wrong side lol.. oops... Think you took both sides in the end anyway...
  14. Honestly I think the brown 240z here: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Datsun-240Z-coupe-/151990757995 Is worth more than $31k AUD anyway..
  15. So I think these are AU market fender mirrors. What is interesting is I don't find these part no.s in the AU market microfiche. Only 1 part no. 96302-A0800 But usually the other side is 1 number away. So I am guessing the right hand side is 96301-A0800
  16. Get in contact with Les Collins, I have given them some additional rocker arms I had as spare. Since the OEM ones are great and usually just require resurfacing. This is what we did with my E31 head rebuild.
  17. Nice I am thinking I'll run 1 of these in HS30 00150 now, but I'm looking for 1 I'll totally rebuild and go through from scratch. Sent you a PM anyway. Good luck with the sale.
  18. This might be helpful. http://forums.hybridz.org/topic/116544-1970-240z-bumpers-on-an-early-1974-260z/?p=1096901 Rear of 260z/280z valance panel. I guess it depends on your year of car and may also impact the way rear bumpers fit.
  19. Yes and no, the 260z ones are a bit different in terms of holes in the rear to accommodate larger rear bumpers that North American market cars had. However many owners choose to fill these. Also the indentation is different between 240z's and 260z's. It can still work, but depends on the level of restoration you're doing. I saw a photo recently of someone who put this panel on a 280z but I can't find it now. It can be done, but I've never done it so can't give more details.
  20. Link to thread please?
  21. You can get your rocker arms resurfaced, no point spending that much on rockers unless it was an all out race motor.
  22. Just an FYI on these, they will need some fettling to make work. They are fairly flat, so will need some more curvature east-west, to do that I am likely going to use a shrinker along the top edge seen below. That should pull it in at each end. You can see toward the bottom also it's not quite as curved as it needs to be to hook under to meet the rear 1/4 panel. Better photo showing how straight it is vs the standard panel. Otherwise the fitment looks quite good and the pressings are pretty decent. I've got 1 spare piece. Price is $450 + postage to you.
  23. It could very well be a LHD import that was for sale a while back for $15k I think. A couple of years back, had the same wheels. Will see if I can dig up the ad. Edit found ad. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/1924-cars-for-sale-3rd-party-sites-ebay-carsales-etc/?p=146273
  24. Hi Everyone, Just wanted to post a link so you can bookmark these resources. http://www.jdmjunkies.ch/wordpress/2016-02-27/240z-headlight-switch-rebuild-pt-1-bodyshop-work-on-rear-quarters-started/ http://www.jdmjunkies.ch/wordpress/2016-04-03/240z-turn-signal-switch-refurbish-assembly/ http://www.jdmjunkies.ch/wordpress/2016-03-02/240z-steering-wheel-switches-refurbish-pt-ii-update-bodyshop/ http://www.doyouevenhoon.com/datsun-240z-gtr/how-to-rebuild-datsun-240z-headlight-switch.html I will attempt this myself with a spare switch I have and will try and write my own tutorial and attach images here (since sites like that often have a habit of disappearing with their images over time) so it's good to have our own resource. If anyone in the interim gives this a go please post your results here. Above all don't throw away your old units! They can be rebuilt!
  25. Ahh yeah you should look up the seller on Google he's a great guy.
