  1. haha you know how to bait me.
  2. Look at HS30 00019 and that will give you an idea I'd say. The difference is that #19 is worth saving. This 2+2 you would be lucky to get half the money you invest in it back should you sell it.
  3. I would guess $15k for body work alone (no paint)...but you would be far better off starting with a better car like I said. When metal on these cars becomes pitted from rust it also gets very thin making repair hard work. Buying a car like this would make sense if you found a similar year 260z 2+2 shell with minimal structural rust but it didn't come with many parts. You would use the parts off the black car to complete another. As much as I would like to save all of them, you also have to be realistic and start with the best candidate. Buy the best car you can afford and start from there. It's far less frustrating also.
  4. 1970 Datsun 240z for sale. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Datsun-Z-Series-/282038837094 Price:US $30,000.00 (buy it now)
  5. Yeah run . Judging by the amount of rust you can see in the ad and fact that it looks like it's been outside a long time and the weather in which it is likely been subjected to, it looks like a parts car. It can be tempting to jump on a cheap car, but in the long run you'll save so much more money buying a car like this: http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/1924-cars-for-sale-3rd-party-sites-ebay-carsales-etc/?p=177607 (White 260z 2+2 above) and you'll be able to enjoy it immediately. Unless you're looking for a project and to develop rust repair skills? $26,000 is cheap considering what it would cost to restore the black rust bucket.
  6. 240z 260z 280zx 5spd manual gearbox http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/262438144560 Not sure what gearbox it is, but could be a good deal if price is right?

    Kidney Wheels

These wheels were fitted to HS30 00051, pretty sure they were the wheels you're talking about? If I get a chance I'll follow up with the owner about these wheels and their spec. Although I don't think they will be for sale I'm afraid. NB: The Nissan 2400 OHC valve cover also. Only came on the first 100 or so 240z's sold here.
  9. It did sell in the end. So either someone is going to restore it or it will be used for parts. I suspect parts, but cannot be sure.

  14. HS30-01266 L24-054683 Weird it has vents in rear hatch. Must not be the original hatch. 71 240z here. http://www.themotorhood.com/themotorhood/2015/4/28/rising-sun-classic-1971-datsun-240z
  15. Hi Folks, I recently managed to source quite a few S30Z clocks for restoration work. I've sent them to Ron in the US of A at Zclocks.com. At last count I have: 1. 1x 240z clock (jeco) 2. 1x 260z clock (jeco 74 model) 3. 2x 260z clocks (75/76) 4. 2x 260z clocks (77/78) I also managed to get together a bunch of Quartz movement mechanisms to help rebuild them and make them more reliable. At this stage I am considering converting the Jeco clocks to use Quartz movement set up, the 260z clocks may have the option or repairing the circuit board or converting to Quartz. I just wanted to gauge interest in any of these clocks with or without the Quartz movement? Prices will be similar to last time I offered these clocks if converting to Quartz movement, although not 100% on this yet as I've spent quite a bit of money acquiring and posting these already. But should give you a ballpark figure. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/13397-for-sale-working-240z-clocks/ It will be probably be half that to retain the old mechanism and repair existing circuit board but reliability will be as good as original which as we know isn't as good as the Quartz units, given that most S30Z's are renowned for the non-working clock. I will offer a core refund ($amount depending on condition of your original clock) for anyone who is able to send me their original clocks. Attached photo shows clocks before restoration (#1 240z clock can be seen here. again before restoration). I can't tell you how great it is to have a working clock in an S30Z!, well worth doing . In photo, far left is 260z Jeco clock (nb: Jeco logo on face), 2nd and 3rd clock from left are 75/76 clocks and the last 2 are 77/78 clocks (note: Typeface differences).
  16. So I picked up the fuel tank and radiator this morning. The radiator looks good, the shroud piece I got wasn't quite 100% original 240z but the guys said if I find 1 they will re-weld it on for free. The fuel tank I'm somewhat happy with, they tried to get the dents out but it's still got quite a few dents in it. They told me they didn't want to try to remove them as they were worried about damaging the tank if they tried further, which I understand but I'm not exactly 100% happy with using it on my car. The little OCD guy in my head is nagging away at me over it. I know it's hidden under the car and for the most part will hardly ever be seen so for now I'm going to try and forget about it and move on. Removing a fuel tank later after the car is on the road isn't too difficult. So I guess it's something I can take care of in future. The tank itself was in good shape just dented... So it cleaned up internally really well. I am afraid I don't have any photos as both items were wrapped in cardboard boxes for transport and I'm reluctant to remove the packaging for fear of it sustaining storage damage. The paint job on the fuel tank was ok, quite a few paint bubbles in it on the top part, but that won't be seen once installed. So very happy with the radiator work, less happy with the fuel tank. Total cost of both items was around $1,100 (inc. GST). ~$700 for radiator work. ~$400 for fuel tank work.
  17. Not a factory code or marking.

  20. I spoke to him last night on the phone, best way to get in contact with him.
  21. So... do we get to know the number of the Casino car? Or your friends early restored car? If you can find out it's number it would be great to add it to the record.
  22. I have ways to do it for Youtube content, for History Channel I can play with some proxies etc.. But it's a massive hassle at the best of times. I'm sure someone will put it on Youtube soon enough . *Edit just tried, but on top of Geo restriction they make you sign into a TV provider to verify you are a paid TV member. I am not so cannot get past that verification step ;(.
  23. Hey mate did you rush the fuel filler area? Too much heat = buckled panel? S30Z stuff is so thin you have to be super careful with repair work I find.

    Rear Demister

Thanks looks promising. @George if you get a chance can you measure up the size and number of grid lines on the OEM glass? Any detailed photos would also be good. So I can see if I can recreate it.
  25. Nice score John, if it was an earlier S30Z aka 240z dash I would have chewed his arm off when he emailed me via club mail .
