Just shows why it's important to go see these cars in person. -
Funny I thought the same thing, then I saw they interviewed Carl Beck and I'm like "oh noes!" we're gonna get more "series 1" and "series 2" nonsense..

The Ebay Thread #2 - Post Ebay Parts Here!
gav240z replied to XRQTR's topic in Parts and Tools for Sale
I can't tell if this is just an RS30 identity for sale? RS30 000265. Starting bid: 500,000 yen https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/j495145702 I guess we know that 1 bit the dust... It could have also been a UK export car. I haven't seen many low vin # RS30's in Australia. My guess is that perhaps the early RS30's were sent to UK first (where as early HS30's went to AU first). Not 100% sure, but not seen many low VIN RS30's here which is why I suspect they went elsewhere.. -

Yes migrate the content to the IPS content management system. I've been looking at a few export options for the content that might move it to CSV and then attempt to import into IPS. It's not a huge amount of data in Drupal so it might be easier to manually move it than figure out a way to "migrate it across". Thanks re: PayPal donations and error, I was in the PayPal help center for ages trying to find out where to configure the passback URL. They have moved things around since I set it up and now I can't find the configuration options including the return URL (which appears to have been deleted as part of the migration). The plan is to install the commerce module for IPS, which will allow for a subscription model (donating members get 12 months ads free experience) and I was thinking we could start offering club merchandise like T-shirts, Hats, Mugs etc.. again. But I am thinking a logo re-design is in order.. -

Honestly I was tempted to say closer to $50k than $40k, but it sounds like it might need a lick of paint and an engine refresh and then I recalled the ex-Edward Lees car recently sold around $56k or so? Which I thought was a little lower than I expected given condition of the vehicle (but I saw it in person and it wasn't perfect, far from it). I get told off for being uber bullish, but for comparison have a look at what "not that good" stuff in Japan is selling for..(or at least asking prices). http://www.goo-net-exchange.com/php/search/summary.php?maker_cd=1015&car_cd=10151006&katashiki=S30 http://www.goo-net-exchange.com/php/search/summary.php?maker_cd=1015&car_cd=10151006&katashiki=HS30 It's hard to find pre-74 models (many have received early tail lamp conversions - zenki style). But are in fact later model Fairlady Z's (2.0ltr's) - like the MCM boys imported. You're paying $35k+ for many of these cars and they are often modified. That's why I still feel we undervalue them here, the US has started to see price growth and with their appreciating $USD they are getting quite expensive. It used to seem like a cheap way to get these cars was to import 1 from North America, now however the cheapest way is to buy a good 1 locally, but there are very few good ones! As @arbs will tell you! -

As to why it matters? Usability is part of it, often I remember users based on their profile / avatar rather than username. However also when you go over very old threads you see old members (who may have gone away for a while) but sometimes they come back later and it can help with remembering who they were etc.. It's also nice to see the avatars next to each post. It's amazing how empty it feels without it. I could have written a script to go through and patch them all, but I figure if I do like 10-50 a day / week then I'll have it done eventually. -

Ok. So how about this for folks who want to beat me to the punch. Step 1. Go to this spreadsheet. Step 2. You'll need to know your member ID. You can see this in the URL when you click on your own profile link. Using CBR Jeff as the example. You'll see his URL is: http://www.viczcar.com/forum/profile/103565-cbr-jeff/ The 103565 part of the URL is his member ID, your member ID will be different. Step 3. Looking in the spreadsheet find this number in column A Step 4. Now that you have your member ID, go to column C and click on the URL here. This will take you to the path of your avatar (this is where it was stored in the older 3.x version of the software). Step 5. To update your profile photo (avatar) go to your username in the top right hand corner and click on the down arrow. Step 6. Go to Profile, then on the far left click on the profile photo button. Step 7. You will need to save your old avatar to your desktop or similar (local drive). Step 8. Then upload the image again and save. NB: For some reason it won't allow you to specify a URL that is this site, so you have to download and re-upload the image. It's a little annoying... -

So I spoke to the software publishers and they told me unfortunately the selection problem is a known issue and will be addressed with an upcoming bug/fix release. No ETA yet on when it will be available. But I'll see what can be done about making changes to the default behavior. So in the short term kind of stuck. -
The site is run by Jay Ataka, who charges premium prices for hard to find NOS parts. I'm guessing the Ashtray is NOS at that price? The problem with reproduction Ashtray's is that they are made from bakelite (originals), which is also why they shatter when dropped and crack in half. So nobody has made a "good enough" reproduction or faithful reproduction yet. The lid's are a different story. If I thought I could get $998 USD for each of mine I wouldn't have sold 4 to Lindsay at Zshop :). I believe bakelite is also a fire retardant plastic, hence it's use as an Ashtray. Funny but if you had a NOS ashtray, probably the last thing you'd want to do with it is stub out your ciggie. I wish I could claim I had that much global influence.

Reason I was looking at it was that I noticed a huge influx in visitors from North America to the site. Normally the #1 visitor location is Australia. However I looked into what pages they are looking at, turns out it's the Global Z-Car Thread. Hmmm...

NLA, wonder if it sold and how much for? As usual the DPAN collective on Facebook was moaning about prices...

Probably need it... my 72 had straight pipes (with 2 hot dogs only) and it was white noise loud as @Lurch described it. Frightened horses in paddocks as he went past. Maybe that's why the guy's face is blocked out, didn't want to be held accountable for that exhaust set up?
