Good morning all,

Had a wicked weekend got to go cruising with a dozen+ zeds for the QLD chrissy party and got to see The Living End (my favourite band) band twice.

I got a photo with Chris Cheney Saturday night and just about wet myself. He's the nicest guy, Had a chat for about 10 minutes 8)

Last night I managed to catch up with him after the show and I asked if he could sign the zed and he was like "Fuck yea, thats a wicked car" and He got the other guys out to sign it too. First car they've ever signed aswell ;D

Question is whats the best way of protecting the signatures long term? Next door to work theres a place that does vinyls/stickers for cars and I was thinking of getting the whole guard covered in clear or would getting someone to spray clear coat over the top be the way of going?

Get spanners

Unbolt guard

Hang on your wall

Drive car guardless

Tell coppers you have a bell end,,,, oops,, sorry living end guard

I got signatures of famous race car drivers, on the cars they used to own, i now own the cars!

I also played a guitar once owned and signed by Keith Richards Rolling Stones. Real deal, def not for sale, i offered 20k$, but nup.  The owner, Sam Cutler, ( google him) liked my bluesy rendition of Angie! He gave me his autobiography, signed, of course.

I do like the Strolling Bones, gee 50 years on!

I agree with Jason.  Take the guard off the car and send it straight to the 'pool room'.  Get another guard for the car.

That way if something horrible happens you wont lose them.

As a Living End fan I would have thought you wouldn't need no one to tell you what to do.

At work and just cracked up. wicked call xD

I've already got a room full of living end stuff and my other 3 zeds had the same TLE bumper sticker so it's awesome to have the same kind of thing going.

Favourite car with my favourite bands signatures on the guard 8) I don't really want to seperate the two. Its pretty radical haha

I love the living end and think they are one of the best bands in the world today. But if Chris Cheney was to go even close to my zed with a permanent market I would punch him in the nose.  ;)

Taking the fender off and hanging on the wall is the best idea.

In that time between removing it from the car, and hanging it on the wall, you can get it clear coated, to keep those signatures behind a protective coating away from the world.

A friend of mine had the Cruz brothers (Professional NHRA Drag racers) sign the spoiler of his '69 Camaro and had it clear coated to protect them.

Perhaps you could get somone to gold leaf the three signatures. They will take a template then use that to transfer an adhesive. Brush on some gold leaf, do some airbrush shadow work and BanG.

getting it clear coated is the best way to do it.

HOWEVER!!!!

Before you get someone to spray it you need to consider a few things.

PREPSOL, the stuff they clean the panel down with before paint will remove it, so you'll have to avoid using it.

Most any cleaning product will remove/damage the signature, so you'll be trying to spray clearcoat onto a dirty unprepped surface and hope it doesnt flake off, taking the signature with it.

before you do ANYTHING to it, get a spare test panel (off any white crudbox at the wreckers) and experiment with that first.

Speak to a professional about how to get the best results.

btw, who the hell are the living end????? :P

I cant believe that you did that to your new paint. It's crazy! You will be pissed in a few more years when you don't care so much anymore...

I won't :P my first cd back in the day was these guys and my first bdo I saw them and I see them every time they tour. If my life had a soundtrack it would be all living end, every song has a memory attached. To have my favourite car that I've dreamed of owning for years and to have met my favourite band and been complimented on my car and have them all sign it is absolutely amazing.

New guard with paint is only a few hundred but a guard signed by the TLE is one off and special ;) might not be everyones cup of tea but its my zed and I love it!
