Gordo Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 There must be 1000 postings on racing racing racing. Ive heard no mention on this forum of a nav run and anything for family and kids. Im not into racing and dont have a cams licence, Im not feeling the love... So Chris. If you are coming with the wife and kids, Phillip Island has heaps to do. On the Saturday is the nav run as Dimitri suggested . The penguin parade is on every night , there are daily trips from the Cowes jetty to seal rocks, if you are staying at the Ramada walk across the road to the animal sanctuary with all sorts of Australian animals, they even give you a bag of food to feed the animals. Ten pin bowling down the road. Heaps of shops to check out . At the track there is a 6 lane scalectrix track , and go cart track, and car museum . Best thing to do is get on line and check it all out. I guarantee if you go to the information centre in Cowes you won't even do half of the stuff you want to. You can take the family to the Chocolate Factory and make your own stuff. Drive out to Churchill island, you can even jump out of a plane if you want, feed the Pelicans at SanRemo at 12.00 noon. Cheers. Quote

Moderators Zedman240® Posted March 18, 2013 Moderators Posted March 18, 2013 I bought some today and was told to leave it in the sun to heat it up.. Might just cut it in two and try to join it like a picture frame join. Quote
Gordo Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 Thanks Peter , I ended up joining it as Dimitri says on the corner.heaps of cable ties. Looking forward to seeing all the other cages, cheers Guys. Quote
260DET Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 Hope all you blokes with cages are in the Super Racing Class Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted March 19, 2013 Moderators Posted March 19, 2013 Hope all you blokes with cages are in the Super Racing Class Yep, Two weeks ago I was running with the sportscars; kept those pesky Matra's and Lolas behind me all the time... Quote
dat2kman Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 Someone's been whacking in some 48 second laps, apparently! Quote
260DET Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 So, how much fuel is my turbo likely to use for the day and how many runs are we likely to get? Quote
dat2kman Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 So, how much fuel is my turbo likely to use for the day and how many runs are we likely to get? Longer track, more WOT, around the same fuel burn as at Bathurst. Just take , in car, and in jerry cans, what you usually take for a lakeside day 20 plus 20 plus 20? Quote
Gordo Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 There is 98 fuel at two servos in Cowes. Five mins from the track. I think we will get 3 runs and if all goes well a fourth. I normally work on 2 lt of fuel a lap and it heaps. If we run 12 to 15 min runs. 7 laps x 4 runs, 28 laps, 54 lt fuel now worries. Quote
handsandwhich Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 In the supp regs under 'general' and highlighted in yellow. f) Fuel maybe available at the Track at a nominated time during the day. Entrants will be advised well in advance of the event. g) In accordance with our Track Hire Contract with Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit, a maximum of 60 litres of fuel per car may be stored in each garage at any one time. Additional Fuel must be stored outside the garage in the paddock area. Maybe? Probably highly expensive but pretty good if you don't want to be lugging around jerry cans full of juice. Quote
260DET Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 Sounds like 30L useable in the tank plus 2x20L should do it, thanks blokes. Quote

Im not into racing and dont have a cams licence, Im not feeling the love... Yea they should rename this thread Racing Your Car at Phillip (oh and there's a car show or something like that and other activities if you're into that girlie sookie la la stuff) Island Quote
Gordo Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 It will be the Best Nissan Datsun car show you will ever see! So long as the weather holds out. Quote
jamo240 Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 It's all too hard! I'm gonna do the nancy boy thing and just come and watch you blokes fang around or go do the nav run. Or, perhaps just have a few beers down at the beach! All this rooting around for a few laps at PI is more than I can justify... For clarity though, do you actually need a roll cage to run, or can you run without one? Cheers Jamo Quote
Riceburner Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 You can run with no cage. I did my first event at the 07 nats, stock Z with stock seats, seat belts, open diff and road tyres. Quote
260DET Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 If people don't want to do cruisey laps (regularity) or serious laps (sprints) at PI what do they actually want to do that is not catered for? Serious question, it is a car club thing though. Quote
luvemfast Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 There's much talk about the sprints for one reason. There are rules and regulations to adhere too. There are ideas and set ups to bounce around. For nab runs and show and shines. Just turn up! YOU DO NOT MEED A ROLL CAGE TO ENTER SPRINTS. But if you DO have a cage. It must meet CAMS regs. I do not have a cage. Quote
Gordo Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 Weather up date for Easter Friday and Saturday , a shower or two. That's better than rain, could be lucky and not get any, fingers crossed. Sunday is the day we need a bit of sunshine ! Quote
MaygZ Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 I do not have a cage. Sheldon, there are soooo many lines ..... sooooo many ...... Hope everyone is having a ball at the island. Quote

260DET Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 Just in case it's not in the sup regs, what numbers are required and where. Assuming we are to supply our own. Quote
Gordo Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 If you nominated for a number theirs a good chance you will get it. And I can't say with any authority , buy they normally will provide stick on numbers for each door. The other thing, you may be emailed these details this week when it's finalised. But can't say for sure. Cheers. Quote
260DET Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 It is in the sup regs, your allocated number, one on each door. Quote
dat2kman Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 CAMS bulletin B013-037 Moratoruim until June 30 2013 on cars in competition needing to fit SFI45 roll bar padding. For any competition below national level. Ie, dont panic if you havent got the new stuff fitted. You now dont need it, yet. But something is better than nothing Quote
