All three local Ballarat VASS "Engineers" can not carry out certification for an engine conversion so it'll be off to Melbourne or Geelong for that. Reading the modification guideline for engine replacement if you were to fit a larger naturally aspirated engine into an 1100Kg vehicle the formula is 1100 X 4 where as if a vehicle is 1200Kg or over the equation is weight X 5 so the largest capacity engine you can fit in a 2+2 is 6.0 Litres. The engine must clear all other parts by 10mm and fluid lines must be kept well clear of exhaust fittings. Brake performance must allow the vehicle to stop from 35 kph within 12.5 meters. This is taken from the national code which i'll use strongly as a guide which means i'll need to reroute the fuel and transmission lines and provide slighty more clearance for the steering shaft. Other than that it should all be go. I think Geelong would be the go as my sister lives not far from the two engineers Capable of performing the VASS inspection.

Can you just throw a couple of bags of cement in the back, or is it worked on compliance plate weight?  Does all the extra weight from bracing and chassis stiffening help you in your cause?

I'm right with that mate but remember these are from the national code which may not apply in this state.

Been working steadily on the V8 project after scoring Ross's parts car. Only need a Brake Booster (this one is leaking) Install the charcoal canister and then paint. She'll be ready for engineers next month. Having trouble loading pics at the moment so i'll fix that issue and post up some pictures after paint.

Scoota did the wheel come with the car or did you acquire them? The reason is that a Friend of mine had a 260 with those rim from new. He got the car from the Kew Datsun.

Looks good Scoota, the boys from work commented on how good it looks with the new paint on it  :)

I forgot to ask last time I was over, are you going to do a modified grille for this one?

Wow a whole page dedicated to banter about those wheels, very un impressed guys. What i should do is cancel the engineers report and spend a bunch on new wheels. Will be great to just sit there and look at the thing and only drive it up and down the driveway for the next 3 months. Then just to please everyone else i'll convert my 2 seater to manual.

Rob, the grille is custom made from supermarket shelving brackets and a speaker grille from a pub in Ballarat.

I'm really glad i shared this with the club, thanks!
