If i knew what to say about your replies, i would. The fact that i have been a member here since 2007, the fact that i have, blah blah blah, blah. I was just sharing what i had done over the last 2 years in my spare time and you self righteous pricks had to go and say "Hey let us not make it about the 25 Grand worth of labour or the 6 Grand worth of parts that this guy put into this build" instead you chose to have a dig about my budget. SHAME ON ALL YOU. !!!

If I had a dollar for every time some one didn't like something about what I was doing u would be rich. It's constructive criticism. You know we all appreciate your skills and even more so because you are mostly self taught.

Could be worse I have a set of chrome 12 sloters here to suid a Datsun  :o

Now your talkin. Seriously i'm a wog. We are the kings of over reacting. The wheels stay on unless the engineers say no at which point i'll fit the ones from my other Zed. After i save 3K to get the custom wheels done and another 2K for the paint as this is only a base coat i'll come back and show you what i have pictured in my head for 2 years. The thing i like about the car at the moment is that it's nearly finished. Design aspects will evolve over the next three years.

Interesting time at Vic Roads today as they could find no record of this vehicle ever being registered in Australia. Not sure what that means but by the amount of worn parts on it i'm sure it has been used.

I had a similar issue with a parts car that came with my Z. After investigating i found out it was a jdm fairlady z and that according to vicroads many were imported for motorsport or personal imports and never road registered. Was also told by them that as long as its not listed as stolen it can be registered if a statutory declaration is provided aswell as receipts etc as car is older than 84?

Do you by chance have the original engine number from it? A zed I bought that wasn't registered for years had only the engine number on file as the VIN number wasn't 14 characters long.

Hi Mark,

did you get any paperwork/plate no's with it when you got it? There is a pretty good chance it may have been rego'd in one of the other eastern states, and vicroads may not have the data from the other agencies. May be worth calling RTA (now RMS) in NSW as well as QLD and SA versions of same, they may have chassis/plate numbers on their systems.

Cheers.

I got nothing with the vehicle, i know it came from the other side of Melbourne and i tried to contact the ebay member but no reply. I doubt if any of this makes a difference now. Anyway the permit is active now, i'll go get some juice and pick up Dale.

Internal miscommunication with the engineers has now meant that the first date i can get for testing is April 2. Some people should never go into "Semi Retirement"  >:(  >:(  >:( I will be taking this one to Phillip Island on a permit or trade plates.

This thing is a serious piece of Candy, very addictive. A few problem crept up on the test drive

Tailshaft needs a balance

Indicators are a hit/ miss atm

Needs a cooling system flush

Needs a cleveland thermostat

Only one wheel locks up on full handbrake

LH exhaust is too low

Floor plugs

All in all it's just little teething problems, nothing serious and the brakes are excellent. At least i have a month to sort them out. The way it chirps into second is just soo strong . I'm aiming for full rego this year then a switch to club rego.

Sounds good mate, if you need floor plugs, remember that I have some in the garage that we picked up when you guys helped pick up that parts lot from Melbourne a while ago. They're yours if you want them, just give me a yell and I'll drop them in.

Cheers man.

Found a tub full of different sized ones mate, I'll drop them around tomorrow, if you're not around then I can drop them around on the weekend. I'm being sent away again to the Gramps early next week so if you're not around then I'll drop them at your door?

Well the V8 Zed has gone in for engineering and a brake test this morning, ironic that i had no wiper motor and it's raining in Ballarat today but he said that i can bring the vehicle back if the weather doesn't improve. The inspection phase takes two and a half hours and the brake test checks to make sure the fronts lock first and then a fade test, 20 stops from 60 to zero followed by two stops from 100 to zero. The G's have to measure .54 on the 20 stops and .8 G's on the last two. Should be interesting.

Yep Ballarat Mud is almost famous Mick. Just spoke to the engineer and there is very little to do.

Drivers side extactors need more room near the steering rod

Passenger side extractors too low need to come up 25mm

Worn bush on the moustache bar

Tailshaft balance

Rear brakes locking up first need porportioning valve

Then it goes for the brake test and we're done.
