luvemfast Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 Your red one? The stock one with the worked motor and the fuel injections system? Yeah Lurch, hardly standard mate Suspension, maybe. But not the engine! Quote
dalee Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 Stock 240Z I thought I was one of the few on here that kept cars stock big fella. Stock = points ignition, cast iron exhaust, twin carbs and much less than 45 dec advance. and Gordon Dobie must not have been within 100 feet of the car, ever. Quote
620Z Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 Ha Ha Ha I think Lurch might have to amend his post. Quote
C.A.R. Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 Oi, it's got a stock 280ZX fuel injection system on it. But I agree, it's not stock standard to the particular model Zed that it is. And GD mainly blueprinted the engine... In my opinion it's quite standard! Quote
luvemfast Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 In my opinion it's quite standard! http://www.datperform.com/ "1969 Datsun 240Z chassis No 149 fitted with DPC fuel injection producing 250 BHP. " Yup, 240Z's came out with Motec ECU's producing 250BHp standard. And my 280ZX is actually a robot from Cybertron sent here to protect me from Megan Fox Quote

Riceburner Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 That's a good time for Sandown Lurch, no doubt the Island should be interesting. Does this mean it's now a threeway death race between You, Me, and Simon lol Quote

Have some 330mm disks with HSV four spot calipers front 315mm 4 spot rear that will fit under some 17" Rota wheels, new R888 toyos at 255/40R17 Need to adjust master cylinder on clutch Larger front sway bar. I think there is another 3-4 secs in the above. My problem now is that I need my brain to catch up, what was gentle and fun at 1.13 now requires alot more conccentration. Quote

PZG302 Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 After yesterday's Lapz at the lake, I was pretty happy with a best of 62.800 and was consistently in the 62.8-62.9 second laps all day. Plenty left in me too, so when it's race time I should be a quick quicker, new boots would also help..... Quote
Riceburner Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 Today at Phillip Island I had a new best time of 1.57 consistently in 58's+59's. Bring on the new engine! But first I'll need better front pads as brake fade is an issue after 2-3laps. By the end it was one looooong peddle Quote
luvemfast Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 Good work Gareth, perfect weather for you. How did you find the suspension mods? Quote
Scando Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 Nice work Felt better with the extra camber then? Any other changes since last time? Quote
Riceburner Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 Well it feels better on turn in, I dont have to wrestle the car into corners anymore, but I am now getting 'chatter' from the fronts mid corner in honda and mg. Everywhere else is fine, I also did runs with the rear bar connected and disconnected. The first session it was connected then disconnected after that, interestingly there was no difference to times Quote
260DET Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 Phillip Island is the only reason why I would consider living in Vic but its a damm good reason Anyway front wheel chatter eh. Well it just so happens mine did that too when the front dampers low speed bump was adjusted up too much, the front wheels wanted to understeer skip across the tarmac mid corner. Backed the adjustment off and it was fine. Quote
