Scoota G Posted November 18, 2010 Author Posted November 18, 2010 The inside of the bonnet has been stripped chemically then hit with a wire brush. Quote
Scoota G Posted November 20, 2010 Author Posted November 20, 2010 Prime and paint, i always hated the lip on the bonnet so i deleted it. Quote
RB30X Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 Make sure you use a long block and work front to back when sanding that bad boy, you never see them until it's painted. Are you going green? Quote

Are you going green? Yea well you're right on with that as the Black has grown on me, so it'll have to be super straight. Midnight Black Gloss is the new colour. Quote
Riceburner Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 I like the black look scoota. You should get vinyl Datsun letters made up to go across the front of the bonnet just like the rally cars. Quote
Scoota G Posted November 20, 2010 Author Posted November 20, 2010 Ahhhh ouuuuu hmmmmm i'm not a really big fan of stickers or badges. Does anyone have a pic of that look? Quote

Scoota G Posted November 21, 2010 Author Posted November 21, 2010 Needs to cure then a color sand and buff. Looks muchly better than the old one. Quote
Scoota G Posted November 21, 2010 Author Posted November 21, 2010 Looking good Mark. Thanks buddy, considering the state of the bonnet it's come up not too bad at all. It's good to get another panel done as it's been a while, one step closer. Quote
Scoota G Posted November 21, 2010 Author Posted November 21, 2010 Dang i'm impatient sometimes. Quote
Riceburner Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 Nice job Scoota, jeez you work fast! Quote
Scoota G Posted November 21, 2010 Author Posted November 21, 2010 The bonnet was supposed to be last but hey, i'm hoping that these pictures will get Dale revved up and we can get some Hue on his Orange Beast. I wanted to be a spraypainter when i was 17 but the only thing they had going was welding. I've only ever had one lesson and that was the rust repair day. Next episode will be the Passenger side door which i might ask dale if i can lend his parts car door so i can streach the prep out over the week and paint on the weekend. Then the tailgate gets done and i'll strip every panel off the car and do the quarters and roof in the one week, after that i'll throw the car back together and do a finishing coat with the car assembled. Looking to complete the car around April (the best laid plans of mice and men) but the under body detail and new interior may have to wait. Quote
FuzzyDropbear Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 Wow, looks great scoota, so nice and shiny! Will have to come round with a beer and inspect Quote

Scoota G Posted December 2, 2010 Author Posted December 2, 2010 Thanks Guys . . it still needs another 3 coats but i like to let the bodywork sit for a while and then block sand and recoat. Trying to keep with the front to back renewment (is that a word?) I'm getting a new screen fitted tomorrow. Sort of made me, you know, Happy. All the trims have been polished too. Quote
