dalee Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 Stop giving him ideas Rob, you know Scoota will do it. Quote
FuzzyDropbear Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 ha! I think everyone knows that I don't need to give Scoot ideas, he has enough of his own... Still waiting for that Aussie flag idea to randomly show up in this thread.. When I've been to your house, I've seen the way he looks at Orange (that twinkle gets in his eye), I'm still surprised it hasn't ended up with a certain V8 in it Maybe that's going to 'accidentally' fall in one day before it's finished? hee hee. Scoot, which spec cam are you going to run with the new head? The same one that's currently on the car? Last time I talked to you, you had another one which was a bit lumpy for your current setup, but you still had it still sitting around. Quote
Riceburner Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 What sort of work did the head have done and what comp ratio do you expect? Quote
Scoota G Posted August 24, 2010 Author Posted August 24, 2010 This has the details of the head mods. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,6905.0.html As for the compression ratio, it was bolted to a L28 with flat tops so on an L26 with dished i expect it to be streetable. I just want a little more than i have (ever heard that before). Quote
Scoota G Posted August 27, 2010 Author Posted August 27, 2010 All assembled now and i ordered camtower shims From Stewart Wilkins, i think it will just sit there now until i rework the engine bay although i can just feel i'll get tempted one of these weekends. I also think one of those twin idler gear http://www.kameariusa.com/L6_Twin_Idler_Gear.php would be a good addition. I found one on another site $200 cheaper. But for now i think i'll go buy some more paint and reskin the Passenger side door as the weather is starting to improve. Quote
dalee Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 weather is starting to improve. Yes, with wind chill factor, it finally reached 0 degrees at 5.30pm on Wednesday. Time to break out the sunscreen. Quote

Scoota G Posted August 27, 2010 Author Posted August 27, 2010 Awesome goodies, what sort of head gasket is that? I bought another full set, ACL. Quote
Scoota G Posted August 30, 2010 Author Posted August 30, 2010 Well after an Awsome weekend Helping rob (fuzzydropbear) out with his project and a Full On trip down to Phillip Island the car needed a bit of a wash. Also the pile of parts that need to be fitted grows ever larger with a Dash that i picked up off Peter when down at Phillip Island (with a working clock) and a set of camshaft tower shims that completes the list of everything that i need to install the cylinder head. Happy Days indeed. I swear everytime i walk even close to my car with a Parcel it's almost as if the front changes from it's current look to something that says "For Mee" Quote
luvemfast Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 Oh that dash sure is purty What size shims are they? Why are you using them? Quote
Scoota G Posted August 30, 2010 Author Posted August 30, 2010 The shims are 1mm and i'm using them because the new Cylinder Head is shaved, i think the dash is awful nice too. We'll see tomorrow. Quote
Scoota G Posted September 1, 2010 Author Posted September 1, 2010 Due to the rain i've been working on Oscar this week. The dash has been removed and then i removed the dash cap. I think the photos speak for themselves Quote
Scoota G Posted September 1, 2010 Author Posted September 1, 2010 ... I just can't help but post a photo of the L26 every now and then Quote
GV260 Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 So what are the spec's of the L26 and have you had it on a dyno? Quote
Scoota G Posted September 1, 2010 Author Posted September 1, 2010 So what are the spec's of the L26 and have you had it on a dyno? Cold air intake, 2" Ramtubes, 45mm Dellortos, Kameri Manifold, Stainless steel valves, Shaved, Cc'd, ported N42 head, Crow cam and Valve springs, ARP head bolts, 280ZX Electronic ignition, Full balance, Chrome rings, 40 thou overbore, Hypertec pistons, Modified crank, Genie headers, Apart from that theres the 140 amp alternator, Aluminium radiator! No dyno session yet and i still have to fit the cylinder head. Quote
peter mc Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 did the dash clean up ok for you mate Quote
Scoota G Posted September 1, 2010 Author Posted September 1, 2010 did the dash clean up ok for you mate Yep, the dash was actually grey as i suspected so i repainted it and it looks perfect, thanks again peter. Only weird thing is that working clock...after 13 years it's a bit hard to get used to. Quote
reverendzed Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 Mark! man, that looks fantastic, you are doing a super job. Keep going! Rev. Quote
luvemfast Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 Not mucking around there Mark Looking good How come you've got time to spend on the Z? Quote

Scoota G Posted September 2, 2010 Author Posted September 2, 2010 Not mucking around there Mark Looking good How come you've got time to spend on the Z? I've got two jobs at the moment, one is outside and with the constant rain it's hard to get to. The other is painting Dale's Zed and it's still a bit cold to do that. Looks awesome that engine will be tops hope everything else goes to plan. It's only just run in and is sounding great, pity i have to strip it down again but the new cylinder head (on the previous page) should Pep it up a fraction. Quote
Scoota G Posted September 11, 2010 Author Posted September 11, 2010 I've put the new Cylinder Head on today (3 months to get all the bits) and it was very much a straight forward operation. This one is shaved with stainless steel valves, cam towers have been shimmed which set the pad wipe up perfect. Sounds SaaaWeeet but i'll wait for tomorrow for a run... i do remember saying that i was finished under the bonnet, i suppose one day that will be true :-\ Quote
