Scoota G Posted September 12, 2010 Author Posted September 12, 2010 p.s. is that US$520 for all the parts & accessories in the Kameari kit ? Sure is, you can find the same kit on other sites for around the same price. Quote
RB30X Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 HA, You are a classic Scoot. So what mods are planned for the new warped head after you pull it off again;D Quote
Scoota G Posted September 13, 2010 Author Posted September 13, 2010 I spoke to Peter last night as he explained the Dymanics of dialing in a cam so i adjust it to position 3 to compensate for the shaved cylinder head which helped heaps but i feel it needs an adjustable cam wheel so that'll be next on the cards either this one http://www.kameariusa.com/L6_Campulley.php Or this one http://www.datsport.com/chain-rollmaster-kit.html Quote
peter mc Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 hi scoota go the kameri style much easier to to adjust there are many Aussie made ones to SW has them. Quote
RB30X Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 Playing with cam timing on a single cam engine is a 'one tooth foward' three steps backward affair. I played around with RB30 cam timing a bit in my NA VL days. You are basically adjusting your torque/hp band higher or lower in the rev range. You can increase torque dramatically at low rpm but you are just transferring it from the top end. Your engine will not make any 'more' power, just distribute it differently. Obviously all cams have a sweet spot and I'm guessing once you find it you'll never adjust the gear again. Just make sure you do those bolts up tight. One question though. Your head is shaved right (or are you just bald ), so the distance is less between the crank sproket and the cam sproket (approx a 1mm?). Isn't that why you shim the cam towers? Wouldn't this take up any slack in the timing chain created by the smaller distance between the two sprokets. I would've thought this was all taken into account when big companies sell someone a cam, that they also provide a rough shim height required, the dowl on the cam will line up on the sproket, and providing you get the two dots on the timing chain in the right position you're in business? I just didn't think you needed to do it much with single cammed engines. Twins I can understand, or even boosted applications? Quote
Scoota G Posted September 14, 2010 Author Posted September 14, 2010 I only shimmed the towers 1mm, didnt want to go higher because of the changing rocker geometry. As it sits now it has a perfect wipe with the Crow Cam and 1mm shims, right in the centre. Once i get the new cam wheel i might get Peter to help me dial it in. It is a street motor with an Auto after all and i need Torque and Power to be in a specific range to suit my setup. And no i Will Not Change to a manual. Quote
Scoota G Posted September 14, 2010 Author Posted September 14, 2010 Gee it's unreal but i've gone from body to cooling to custom plates to engine to interior on my repaint excercise ... easy to get distracted Hey ? Quote
Scoota G Posted September 14, 2010 Author Posted September 14, 2010 Oh fudge, and there's the seatbelts and alloy radiator too. OmG where is my head at? I guess we obtain parts on availability, not sequence. Quote
Scoota G Posted September 21, 2010 Author Posted September 21, 2010 Gee it's funny but you don't reasise how far things have come when you've locked horns with a project until you look at old photos. I remember the good old Twin Carb days but it seems a mile away. Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted September 21, 2010 Moderators Posted September 21, 2010 That's the thing with zed ownership; you think standard is fine but you find yourself saying "those triples would like nice in the engine bay"..the it starts! Quote
tbscobraZ Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 That intake on the carbs looks awesome I've never seen one like it, custom? great work mate. Quote

Scoota G Posted November 3, 2010 Author Posted November 3, 2010 God sometimes i do the Silliest things but i'll get to that in a tic. I bought some bits from the states recently one of which was a Passenger (RH) side regulator and after sizing the pair up and removing the brackets it bolted up great and works 100%. The other bit i bought was a glovebox inner without even thinking that they won't suit, D'oh Quote
