lightmaster240z Posted January 1, 2013 Posted January 1, 2013 I think I am right for the battery tray but I need to check with the surgeon about the condition of the replacement tray. This will be his call. But thank you you any way. Bruce Jay Leno Quote

C.A.R. Posted January 3, 2013 Author Posted January 3, 2013 Engine bay chassis rail repaired & welded up. The power went out just as I was going to clean the welds up, so I've packed up for the day (going to be too hot anyway). I have ordered from Nat0 a new pair of underfloor chassis rails, so they will go on in a few weeks. I'm now waiting for the paint shop to reopen so I can buy some 'KBS RustSeal' urethane paint, so I can paint the insides of all the cavities. Stay tuned Quote
KatoKid Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 Nice work Lurchos. Dogleg looks pretty good compared to most! Quote
lightmaster240z Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 That not that bad I really expected worse that that from that part of the car. So it more good news. Quote
Scoota G Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 I can't see the sill extension. Has this had work done before.? Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted January 5, 2013 Moderators Posted January 5, 2013 Is that folded up newspaper? If it is, have you checked its date? Quote
C.A.R. Posted January 5, 2013 Author Posted January 5, 2013 Mark - Inner sill is in good nick. Just a bit of surface rust No Dim - it's like a piece of FG matting that was jammed into the hole so that the bog had something to stick to... And this is what I was doing for the last couple of hours of today: I've remade the edge of the inner guard/battery tray (by cold shrinking the edge to create the curve) where it is spot welded to the firewall, as the orig. lip was cut off when it was removed from the donor vehicle... ...This will now get 'tweaked' further, & then welded to the replacement panel before being fitted to the car. Thanks must also go to Matt "Bigfella" as this job would be so much harder without him donating that inner section! Quote
Brabham Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 Nice work lurch. Will that rear jacking point hold? Similarly if the front of the sill has had a section cut out will it hold? My fronts have been cut and my rears are rusty! Where can i support my zed so it doesn't fall apart? (Front and rear suspension need to come off) Impressive work. Fortunately no sign of the dreaded expander-foam! Quote
