Just want to know whats out there. So far I have only heard of pacemaker and genie extractors - what do people think of them? Any other options?

How much are you willing to spend? You can still get some from Japan from Thrust/Greddy here is a link http://www.trust-power.com/nissan/fairladyz/exh/tr_na_exmani.html . I have a set of Fujitsubo like these. http://www.fujitsubo.co.jp/mc-prod/psrs-v.php3?id=00000090

There are a number of other places in Japan. Then you can get plenty from the US including some from Nissan Motorsport see http://www.courtesyparts.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=CP&Category_Code=s30_nismo_headers

I am sure there are many more.

Thanks for the links. I dont think I am willing to spend money on such expesive japanese brands. I am looking for some localy produced options. But just out of curiosity how much have you paid for your fujitsubo item (looks GREAT)?

HM headers used to make a copy of the Nismo L6 extractors (well of course they weren't sold as such because that would be illegal :)). They were an equal length header style and worked very well. That said, I've been told recently that HM no longer male L6 extractors, but might be worth checking.

I was told wrong :)

They look a little different to the ones I remember' date=' but HM are a good brand.[/quote']

Thats what i thought - they look different to the nismo ones plus it says it is designed for 2.4/2.6 litre engines, but doesnt say anything about the 2.8l - is that because of the square exhaust ports on the later ones?

Also how would hm compare to Pacemaker or Genie?

Realistically I doubt you'd notice any great difference between any of these extractors fitted to L24/26 or 28. Never seen a set of extractors in Oz for round ex port heads - and that's not surprising because round ex ports heads are almost exclusively a US market phenomenon (I've had quite a few L6 heads through my hands over the years - either owned or worked on - and I've never seen a round round ex port L6 head).

I've used HM and Nismo exclusively, so can't really comment on any comparison with Genie, etc

I called up HM and they told me that you need to modify the extractors to fit the l28 because it is EFI, they said you need to do some minor grinding around the exhaust ports. I am a noob so I have next to no experience so I'm just going on what I was told by them.

I had to make up some half machined "washers" to hold mine in place otherwise i'd blow the exhaust manifold gasket. I think Nate had the same problem on his old 2 seater 260!?

Round ex-port heads are rare but not exclusive to the US... lams, I have one here that came off a Skyline & is marked N47.

blue leaf, Stewart Wilkins has probably the best available that are mandrel bent & a nice thick 1 peice flange plate that doesn't require "washers" & also has a kink in the lower pipes to accomodate a chassis brace between the 2 rails. Price is around the $450 mark from memory

Hi guys, hope you don't mind me hijacking this thread, but I've been going through the header question in the last couple of weeks.

I just bought some HM make 240Z headers (which were highly recommended) for my L28 240Z. I'm told there is no difference between the L24 & L28 as far as headers go - I hope that's right.

Anyway, I went to fit them but it looks like I'll have to take off the carbies (SUs) and inlet manifold to do this, as it looks like they are bolted on top of the headers. Can anyone tell me if that's the case before I get in too deep?

Thanks,

Rick.

How do I get in contact with Stewart Wilkins?

Cheers
