DevilZ Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 Hi, I was after the best smash repairer of Z cars in Melbourne? My immaculate 260z fuel injected stroker 3.1 was smash into by an absolute tool in a 200sx swerving into my car trying to ram it off the road !!! Followed by a BMW X5 ramming my drivers side door and front quater panel. Basically the drivers side door, front quater, bonnet and front suspension are damaged. There was also damaged caused by the lunatic hitting the car afterwards! As for the frame, that will be checked out by a professional at some stage as this only happen last night. I'm insured with Shannons and as my car was rammed repeatedly and the police have the people involved it wont be a problem. I just want to know where the best place to have it fixed in Melbourne is? I spent 8 years building this car in my garage and I would like it repaired by the best. Just shows how many idiots there are on the roads. 8 years building my car to have some pshyco ram it off the road before I got to even track it......Well looks like jail time for him anyway, especially after the assult with a weapon that followed. Quote
stevo_gj Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 Holy Crap! I can't help with recommending a place in Melbourne but I am sure as hell keen to hear how events unfolded. He tried to ram you? What on earth caused that? Quote
Cdr Zero Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 I'm guessing he was drunk/on ice or something?? Very sorry to hear that happen to you, what an absolute mongrel!!! Quote
620Z Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 That sounds like a nasty incident Devilzed. You need to decide if you want a Zed specialist or just the best repairer. The guy who did a 20K make over on my Zed would be one of the best around. He even pained Crazy John's Lambo years ago. Anyway he is very fussy and takes pride in his work. Not to mention very honest. His name is Rick based at Ted Naylor Bodyworks in Ringwood. Phone number 9879-2179. Not a Zed specialist but can still do anything you want as he did to my car. He had every panel off my car for the bare metal respray, etc etc so it's not like it would be hard for him. Like you say it's getting the dedicated worker that is the hard part to find. Give him a call and tell him I gave you his details and he should look after you. That's one option anyway. I'm sorry I never got to see your car. Quote
C.A.R. Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Rob at the Zed Factory is your man - have a search on this site for his details. Quote
DevilZ Posted January 5, 2009 Author Posted January 5, 2009 Holy Crap! I can't help with recommending a place in Melbourne but I am sure as hell keen to hear how events unfolded. He tried to ram you? What on earth caused that? Well I was driving along at 60km\h just past a speed camera and this X5 pulls out right infront of me cutting off my car. I have big brakes on the car so I wasn't worried, just pushed on the brakes and then changed lanes and drove past them. Didn't bother flashing my lights or beeping......didn't really think much of it. Then I look in my rear view and see this tosser is a s15 200sx come flying up behind me and come up beside me. His reving his car so the blow off valves going and he's yelling i'm going to kill you and is swerving his car at me really franticly trying push me off the road. I'm like what the hell, had no idea what his problem is or anything so I just dumped it to second and took off to get away from this pshyco. So I went flying up the road and this 200sx is trying to go with me, chasing me but I'm a fair bit ahead as my Z is like 165rwkw. So as soon as I pass the intersection ahead I jump back on the brakes as its ridiculous speeding on public roads....even if this guys chasing me if anyone gets hurt by my car its me going to jail. So I slow right down to 60km/h again, then I look in my mirrors and his still comming speeding up the road. He then pulls along side me again helling something about baby onboard and his going to kill me again. Then again his starts swerving at my car and this time hits the front of mine with the side of his. I just jump on the brakes and turn to do a U turn to get away from this idiot as his ramming my car. Then the X5 comes and smashed straight into my door/front fender. The guy comes running out of his car and starts punching and attacking me through the window, so I get out push him away. He then goes to the X5 (turns out to be his wifes car) gets a half meter long maglite torch and starts swinging that at me. I just walk off the raod as everyone has come out of there house by now to witness this and go to a lady on the side to call the police which she had already done. The guy continues to attack me, choking me and things infront of everyone and I'm not doing a single thing back. I could have dropped him so fast but didn't just put my hands up and let him keep attacking me. All I said was your going to go to jail for this as I know the penalties for road rage are massive. He just kept continuing till the police arrived. All the witnesses just told them how I didn't fight back and he was still going nuts while the police where there......He then threw up. The cops took photo's and all and that was that. They sent a tow truck around to pick up my car and the X5 and I go in on Wednesday to give a statement to the police. This loser is looking for some serious jail time. Mean while shannons will get my car sorted for repairs and they will chase him and his wife for the money as it doesn't look like an accident. All I need now is to find a good repairer. The impact of the crash was so violent that it dislodge the battery even which bent one of the pro series ram tubes !!! By looking at road rage inccidents on the net where ppl have just punched someone and got a year in jail......this guy is looking at some serious time. Quote

stevo_gj Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Mate thats unbelievable! I think Cdr Zero is right... thanks for giving us the story. Best of luck with getting it repaired back to the standard you had before. Quote
620Z Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Ahh thats the one. That car was beautiful. Let's hope it gets back in the same condition again. Yeah there are some crazy people on the road. Me one of them at times. Mind you in those instances I have always kept driving and lost them because you never know what they will do or me for that matter. It's not worth it. Some times people need to stop and think about what they are getting so angry about and just let it go. Mind you I know it's easier said than done on occassions. Good luck with the repairs. Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted January 5, 2009 Administrators Posted January 5, 2009 You have my sympathy as a victim of road rage about 5 years ago. Had my window smashed in and a chipped tooth. Turns out the car was stolen a VK Commodore and my mate was filming a drive we were doing in the zed. He must have seen the camera and got paranoid. He started chasing me through several side streets and a few round-abouts, he lost control at one round-about and ended up on the nature strip, hubcaps came off and all. I'll never forget that image, made me laugh. Cops never caught him, although my mate saw him driving a VL Commodore with a broken arm and ice cream lol. Real tough guy I guess. Sounds like the guy in the Ford was hyped up on disco biscuits. I wonder what the S15 guy's story is though. Hope the Zed can be repaired to how it was. Quote
Hunter Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 If someone had done that to my ZED I would have seen red. I would probably be in jail for murder. Quote
Jimbo Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Sorry to hear that mate...... Rob Laughton is THE man at The Zed factory in Mordialloc.. Quote
luvemfast Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Stylerod panels have one of the best reps in eastern Melb. As the name suggests, lots of hotrods and showcars. Do you want guys who like Z's or guys who are really good at panel beating? Pretty f@@ked up story to mate. Its amazing how quiet and sedate people turn into animals on the road with no regard for anyone. Where the hell do we live? Capetown or South Central? Everyone just chill the hell out. Be courteous on the road, let someone pull infront of you, don't go mental if someone makes a mistake. Whats it going to acheive anyway? Geez...... Quote
Mr Camouflage Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Wow, crazy stuff. The best thing to do in that sort of situation, if anyone finds themselves in one, is to drive straight to the nearest police station, instead of trying to outrun someone, park your car and go inside. The crazy people tend to not want anything to do with the police. Quote
DevilZ Posted January 5, 2009 Author Posted January 5, 2009 Thanks guys. I'll try Craig's guy first, then go down through the list if they dont seem right. Looking at the damage last night it just looks like a few bent panels. The hits come nowhere near the chassis and even the frame where the door bolts onto looks fine. It should just need a new door, front quaters, bonnet and front suspension. Will be back on the road in no time, hopefully for the first lot of track days. I'm hoping nissan still make the pannels so I can get brand new ones. Very lucky to get away with such minor damage really. I got full comprehensive insurance coving me to 23k so should be all good to get everything to even better then before. Quote
RBZ 260 Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 twisted F%#%$. hope he gets few years behind bars. lucky u are calm and collective i would have been the one in jail insted of him afterwards. few years back a had a v8 commonwhore driver slam the brakes right infront of me for no reason at all. luckily i swerved and missed him.but things got bit out of hand later but not as bad as your case. if insurance job my moto is go to the most expensive workshop. look at the cars they repair u shouldnt see anything less than 50K value than u shouldnt have any trouble getting the car fixed properly. may take some time though. Z is just a car like any other. (running for cover) IF it gets mangled it gets fixed like any other car. Quote
DevilZ Posted January 12, 2009 Author Posted January 12, 2009 The Z went off to Ted Naylor yesterday. Thanks for the contact Craige. He's taken a look at the car and says its easily repairable. Looks like no damage to the chassis at all and just a matter of changing a few pannels and suspension parts. He reckons its less then 10k all up. In a couple of weeks it should be back and ready for the next sprint event. Quote
620Z Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 Well done DevilZ. Rick will look after you and do a top notch job. The good thing with him is he get's on with the job and doesn't muck around. He should call you to keep you up dated if not call him regularly for updates. That's what I did to keep it moving. I used to drop in every Saturday to check each weeks progress. He didn't mind and you get to tweak a few things along the way. Cheers. Quote
lightmaster240z Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 Full point to craig ;D happy to here you were able to get your car to a good repair. I hope this will be the last time you need one. regards Bruce Quote

I used to drop in every Saturday to check each weeks progress. He didn't mind and you get to tweak a few things along the way. Cheers. Sorry Craig your going to have to loose the points awarded. Rick just called me up this morning to tell me the cars off to Stylerod Pannels. The hotrod place someone recommended. Rick said the cars too moddified for him and its a little out of his league. Pete from Stylerod pannels is taking it now and will do it. His suppose to be really good, everyone from the suspension people to other repairers reckon his the best around. Ricks a nice guy but I think his suited to spraying cars only. My car doesn't seem very damaged, just some bent pannels which they can source new from Nissan Australia, cracked engine mounts and bent front right suspension. Chassistec have checked the chassis and its all straight and all that was needed were some new pannels (door, front guard and bonnet), engine mounts and suspension(steering rack, strut, shock, machine disk). So I was a bit confussed as to why Rick decided he couldn't do it now, especially since he had every pannel off your car etc..? My car is just a straight pannel sway and spray from what him and chassistec have said. But all his said to me is the car is out of his league and too modified with my engine, suspension and brakes for him to do. So the car is off to Stylerod today and hopefully back at home in a few weeks time. Quote
620Z Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 Ahhh shit DevilZ. I'm sorry to hear that. Yeah Rick's main thing is the spray painting and custom body work. But he obviously isn't in to (Suspension, steering rack, strut, shock, disk, engine mount etc) work. Certainly not modified stuff like you say. His main game is panel beating or repair work. I wouldn't be getting him to do any of my mechanical work on my car. That goes elsewhere. I thought you said it was just panel damage. Obviously when bit's come off the real damage is reveialed. I'm sorry to have given you a bit of a bum steer on this one. Nothing worse than having the car at some elses place. Hopefully Style Rod will do the job right. Keep me posted I will be interested to hear about their work. I guess it's better Rick moves it to someone better suited than trying to attempt something that isn't his specialality and stuffing it up. :-\ Quote

I damage is quiet minimal and Chassistec were doing all the suspension work, engine mounts that were needed anyway. No its just a straight pannel swap and spray. I have a feeling that its time consuming sourcing parts and things for the car and it will just end up taking him too long. I think he has some other cars lined up which will be faster and easy money for him so I think thats why his decided against it. But not to worry, Stylerod seem like they will do a really good job. Any engine work needed will be carried out by Speedtec anyway. It will just be a throttle sync and slight tune after engine removal and refit. Quote
620Z Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 No worries. Yeah Rick wouldn't be keen on taking the motor out or anything like that. Main thing is that it's getting under way. Quote
