Administrators gav240z Posted August 6, 2008 Author Administrators Posted August 6, 2008 One more photo for the record. Starting bid 0.99 cents Quote
dalee Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 Just be aware that if this car is a 240z, it has had the entire 260 front end added on! Dead give aways are the inner guards on both sides and radiator support which are a little different to the 240zs. Quote
BenZed Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 The reverse light cut-outs in the tail are kind of obvious too Quote
24OZ Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 'Complete' apart from "Its missing the interior, front windscreen, and tags were lost during restoration. if found will send to winning bidder." looking at what interior parts have sold for individually on ebay recently i would say this would better suit someone looking to rebody a rusty example they have Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted August 7, 2008 Moderators Posted August 7, 2008 They must have fit a 260Z heater during "restoration". My beleif is without ID plates, Vicroads for example wont like it at all; maybe not even register it at all.... Quote
chris240 Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 I emailed him to see if he has the compliance plate, otherwise cant rego in the A.C.T. Quote
viking Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 It's a 260z, he has now found the plates. motor is a l26 also. i guess that changes it a bit. But would still make a good rebody project. Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted August 7, 2008 Author Administrators Posted August 7, 2008 The reverse light cut-outs in the tail are kind of obvious too Ohhh Geebus, you guys got me there. I'm supposed to be a Z expert and completely missed that it was a 260z. I guess that's what happens when you don't look at it fully. I just copy pasted it here for others to see. So many people try pass off 260z's as 240z's though, anyone else notice that? Quote
zedevan Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 *cough* sulio *cough* lol, i find it easier to tell ppl i have a 240z than a 260z 2 seater...if i can be bothered and they actually show some signs of possibly knowing what a 240z is i explain that its a 260z... Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted August 7, 2008 Author Administrators Posted August 7, 2008 I meant more in terms of selling the car. Even with 2+2's they write "260z 2+2 like 240z" or "260z 2 seater same as 240z", which in a way it is. However when cars get listed on ebay it always seem suss that they put it as a 240z, surely the owners themselves know the difference? Quote
zedevan Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 yeah i get what you meant gav, a 240z would be expected to sell for more, which maybe explains why the seller has conveniently 'lost' the ID plates? if he had them at one stage you'd think he would atleast know what it was as you said some ppl on ebay listings go crazy with various other searches they are hoping they could leach people over from, atleast the 240z 260z link makes sense, but posting something up as something it isn't is obviously morally wrong watching RPM for a bit on sunday they were talking about some rally from alice springs to brisbane, into which two "240z's" have been entered, but when they showed video of them they were both 260z 2 seaters... Administrators gav240z Posted August 7, 2008 Author Administrators Posted August 7, 2008 nah...I call mine a 2460Z Sulio Your car is the bastard child of all Zeds Quote
Toecutter Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 yes a very rare example. I should put it up on e-bay and ask for $50K Quote
RBZ 260 Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 Your car is the bastard child of all Zeds LOL LOL LOL i couldnt stop laughing for some time that line just sounds funny. sorry Sulio. lets face it the 240z rear light are lot nicer than 260z. i would have done the same thing. and again most people recognise early Z as 240z even though its a 260z or even a 2+2 most people called mine as 240z. even though the plates are bit of a giveway as 260z. and also being the stretched version. oh well. Quote
nat0_240_chevZ Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 yes a very rare example. I should put it up on e-bay and ask for $50K I WOULD HAVE said atleast 65k as you know its now world famous, ie on youtube and other sites of sorts!! Quote
24OZ Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 anyone been and had a look at this car i emailed the owner regarding how much rust was cut out and where from....needless to say the answer could best be described as reassuringly evasive Quote
Toecutter Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 Ah Nato is that an offer! It's odd that after all these years I have'nt seen a set of 240 rear lights on a 2+2! Now that would get people scratching their heads. Yer I reckon the 240 lights are much nicer than the 260 rears and it's a piss easy job to swap em. Even the plugs were the same so the 240 lights plugged in to the 260 plugs no new wiring whatsover required! Sulio Quote

Now that would get people scratching their heads. Sulio Probably because the rear garnish doesn't fit the same on 2+2's. Quote
Toecutter Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 Yer it is a bit wider on the 2+2, I did'nt think of that but it could still be done by someone thats good with panel beating. Maybe someone will read this thread and take up the challenge! SUlio Quote
reverendzed Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 Hey guys, I'll take up the challenge! if anyone knows where I might get some 240 rear lights I'll post the whole job on the forum. Rev. Quote
