Had a relative look at those two for me about 2 years ago. Apparently full of bog and chicken wire with a spray job hiding some horrors underneath. Apparently the guy had about a dozen s30's all sitting outside in the weather rotting away. Could explain why they haven't sold yet after all this time.

That's the "woodchipper" aka issac. He has about 10-12 zeds for sale, I bought my zed off him, and i know at least 2 other people on here got their cars from him too over the years.

He does have honest examples, he bought them all over 20 years ago, and has been slowly selling them off since

Also, they arn't all sitting in the weather rotting away, he has a lock up barn that he keeps about 9 of them in. My car was sitting in the old garage for 3 years. He does have 3-4 sitting outside because he has no more room, but the price of those ones reflect their condition, the ones outside he was asking 5-6k, the ones inside were starting from 16+

Yes ive heard stories about that yellow one, and yes it sold years ago, heck, the ad for my car is still being advertised in unique cars, and i bought mine over a year ago now.

Yeah its just what i was told hence why i said 'apparently' but i do have photos somewhere on my pc with at least 10 cars all parked outside..possibly moved outside at the time for some reason, but either way one of the freshly painted car had large sized holes of rust filled with chicken wire and bog in the doglegs and rear corners evident by the paint that was cracking off in those areas exposing the wire. The guy actually bought my silver and blue 2+2's about 5 years ago along with several others around Aus that he gets his brother to collect for him which i only found after talking to him over the phone and he admitted some were rush jobs. He was stockpiling to turn several cars into 2-3 good zeds for himself and the rest to sell off.

Yeah coupe is nicer. I was looking at a 160j that was for sale in Ireland but it was 8000.  Euro.

So it sounds like it was more of an evolution than a total change from a particular body number.

Me still learning  ;D

As Needed would say the s1 vs s2 nomenclature is really a North American market designstion. Which was based on Federal laws. That is why they have a more hard cut off date / number. Our compliance laws were more lax so it was whatever was in the parts bin at the time.

At least from what I've seen.

This car is odd ball though the fuel cap lock is a US style one. We never got those big bulky looking things. Flat top carbs usually it is the other way around. The door cards are very stylish. I can't help but wonder is the original vinyl under that carpet?

Of course many owners and possibly many changes over the years. Hard to know what is original. Interesting to see what it fetches but as mentioned she needs a whole lotta love.

They seem to be coming out of the woodwork lately. It is sad that a lot of them are rotting in someone's field. I just don't understand that myself.

It looks like a great example. You could always import compliance would be a breeze.

Has twin levers in the console, but vented pillars, tools boxes &  build number 546

I was of the possibly ignorant impression that only S1's has twin levers ?

Apparently it has the 2400 cc OHC valve cover also. Bit of an odd ball car, makes me wonder if the previous owner started collecting bits and pieces for it, perhaps buying them from the US. Since this car shouldn't have had that valve cover as far as I can tell only the very first 240z's in AU had that valve cover, from what I've been told.

I'v asked Rob at the Z factory about those early 2400 covers and from all the early cars he has seen, they have been mixed around; some did have them fitted and some didn't. Mine should've had one fitted but just have the OHC version.

I suppose that through various owners over 40+ years things get changed and swapped for all kinds of reasons.

He has hung on to it through the birth of all three of his children, one broken marriage and the Global Financial Crisis. But now, it is time to let go and he has accepted that there can really be life after 240Z

Lies all lies I tells ya! There is no life after 240z.
