Guy Posted February 14, 2018 Posted February 14, 2018 I gave this car to my nephew back in December, he has decided that he doesn't want to restore it. Body is in good condition, but will need a bit of work. No visible rust, but needs a good paint job. Stored for over 30 years in dry shed, now sitting in open shed, we want this car to be saved by someone passionate about it. Not complete car, but has lots of spare parts. 3 heads 2 N42, 1 E31. 2 short blocks. 1 long block. 2 240z double SU carbies with manifolds. 280zx fuel injection. Reconditioned close ratio gear box, never used. Datsun 1600SSS twin SU carbies with manifolds. Not 180B SSS! Spare LHS inner guard with rail. Spare dash, no instruments. Spare bonnet, slight damage. Extra set of tail lights. Original hub caps. No windscreen, but otherwise almost complete. My nephew Steve is looking to sell all at once, he's not greedy, but wants a fair price. Call me on 0404 311 193 for inspection details. I am in the north east of Melbourne. Will send photos on request. Quote
Shaun05 Posted February 14, 2018 Posted February 14, 2018 Definitely interested and do have the means for a full resto. Is it easier for you to SMS the photos or send via PM on here? Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted February 14, 2018 Administrators Posted February 14, 2018 Oh now I recall... http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/16814-early-240-free-to-good-home/ I'd love to see photos of it, since HS30 00257 is not a car I have much detail on. Quote
Guy Posted February 14, 2018 Author Posted February 14, 2018 Here are photos. I accidentally misled you about the rust. There is some surface rust, hence needing a good paint job, but there are no rust holes. I owned the car for 34 years, bought it off a mate who owned it for a year. It was stored in a waterproof shed for all of that time. Now it is in an open shed, and we don't want it to deteriorate. Just found a second gearbox, not flanged. The other gearbox is flanged and cost me $900 about 30 years ago, reconditioned, never used. The long block was from my first 240z I think, number 167 or 169. My girlfriend at the time sold it from under me when I was working in Sydney. It became one of the restored Zeds in America in the late '90,s. Looks like all of the carpets and interior trim are in great condition for their age. This was a parts car, so there are parts in boxes. The spares that come with this could help fund a restoration. Would love to see some photos once it is restored. gav240z and CBR Jeff 2 Quote

Administrators gav240z Posted February 14, 2018 Administrators Posted February 14, 2018 I just spoke to Guy, nice fella. His Nephew is seeking $18k for the car complete. He said he'll try and post engine numbers tomorrow afternoon as I'm interested in L24 long block, also interested in bonnet and rebuilt gearbox if they become available separately. Quote

Administrators gav240z Posted February 14, 2018 Administrators Posted February 14, 2018 Was he willing to sell parts? I got the impression he was wanting to sell everything in 1 go and doesn't want the car to deteriorate where it is. He said he would check the block for me and let me know, I did say I'd be interested in the bonnet if the new owner doesn't take that stuff or need it etc.. Quote
luvemfast Posted February 14, 2018 Posted February 14, 2018 (edited) So let me get this right..... Guy gave it to his nephew. Nephew now doesn't want to restore it. Still at Guy's house. Nephew now selling it for $18k? Shouldn't it be given back to Guy for him to sell? And by given back, nothing has changed. Edited February 14, 2018 by luvemfast gav240z and 260DET 2 Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted February 14, 2018 Administrators Posted February 14, 2018 Guy sounds like a very nice uncle from our conversation. Perhaps he doesn't like his nephew going without smashed avocado? ? Either way, I hope his nephew appreciates what Guy is doing for him. I honestly believe he just wants the car to a good home, to be restored and cared for. Quote
mossy Posted February 14, 2018 Posted February 14, 2018 That wont be fun to move, looks like there's no suspension attached. Quote
