240ZR Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 Now available, perfectly port matched extractors to suit L6 engines into 240Z & 260Z. As can be seen in the pics, the flange plate was copeied from an L6 head & not the gasket. Older style extractors had a bad misalignment with the exhaust ports which compromised flow & power. These have 41mm primary & 51mm secondary pipes which are then finished off with a 63mm outlet pipe. PRICE: Raw, $285.00 or $585.00 HPC coated, (plus postage). To order call Nick on 0416 283 194, I only have 2 sets available for now. Quote

Moderators Zedman240® Posted March 31, 2008 Moderators Posted March 31, 2008 Just out of curiosity, are the flange plates available separately? Quote
modular9 Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 bookmarked this thread for when I need extractors ( soon ) . Lovely work. This is for me --> 63 mm outlet is about 2.5 inches Quote

Thomo260 Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 I have just fitted some of these from eBay (seller rod_mph), see my coments at the bottom of the page here -http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,4323.15.html Quote
modular9 Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 I agree with thomo ... I had to thump the extractors a wee bit to clear the sump lip. But... they sound suhweet and the exhaust guys said that the flange on them just mated straight up ( n42 head with injector holes un filled. ) Quote
waxhead Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 Is no one concerned that these extractors are just crush bends and are using normal cooletcotrs and not merge collectors I dont want to speak bad about some one elses work but i would really like to see a dyno output on these compared to manderal bent headers with merge collectors Quote
NZeder Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 Is no one concerned that these extractors are just crush bends and are using normal cooletcotrs and not merge collectors I dont want to speak bad about some one elses work but i would really like to see a dyno output on these compared to manderal bent headers with merge collectors Thought the same myself. believe it or not the stock cast iron exhaust manifold that Nissan supplied with the cars does a good job of getting the gases out. Most headers like these ie without merged collectors only offer weight saving and sound over the stock cast units. If I were to put a set of headers on my L6 (if I go back to L6 power) I would look for a custom set to match the head work I would do to ensure the most gains can be had. I am sure these do a good job but I would be looking for an outstanding job. Again the design of the header to head is important. These with the short pipe length is not what I would want period. The shorter pipes are meant to add torque lower down but will not aid in the higher RPM range - so are good for a road car/mild performance. Again for me I would want larger HP = large $$ in the engine/head = large $$ on header that is best for the engine combo and usually that is 29"-32" primary length which these are not. Horses for courses really just not what I would be looking for an engine in a zed I would have these days. Quote

modular9 Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 a. 1k for headers or b. 300 for headers and 700 on a better/accurate ignition system. I believe that I will get more bang for my buck with the second option. I am not rich and cant justify/afford doing both the 1k headers + ignition system. Compromise. Some of us actually have to live by it. Quote
waxhead Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 how about just 700 on the ignition save the 300 Quote
modular9 Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 Hole in the stock headers large enough to poke three fingers through so needed the headers. And I needed them quickly and cheaply. And that is the crux of the matter. If you need headers ( for whatever reason ) but are on a budget these headers are better than not having the car on the road at all. When you get them fitted or fit them yourself make sure you put a flange at the point where headers meet exhaust then you can always refit . And in my own case : I also have a full efi system ( MSns maybe though ) and turbo setup which *may* be fitted in which case spending 1k in headers which then I will need to sell on ( oh yes I'll get 1k for second hand headers ) is stupid. Quote
Thomo260 Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 Yeah second that point. My stock manifold was not going to get put back on the way it was and I needed some pretty quick. I can not justify spending more than $300 when i am only going to get it out on sunny weekends for a spin. And it's no race car either. But if I were single with no kids, mortgage or commitments then that would be different. Each to their own. Quote
NZeder Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 well that all makes sense now that we know your stock item is stuffed. My point was if the stock unit is ok they do a good job for a mild engine ie better to put the $$ elsewhere Quote
