ScottyD Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 Hi, On Monday I finally purchased my 240Z and drove it home from Victoria to the Central Coast NSW. WOW Loved every minute of it. It didn't miss a beat. The car was originally built by Steven Davis from NSW and was then sold to John ( zedls1) VIC whom I bought the car from. I would like to thank Steve for building this fantastic car and John for maintaining it so well and then selling it to me. Below is a description of the car by the builder Steve, when he advertised it for sale in 2007 Nothing like Inheriting a car from such Enthusiasts... Thanks Guys Yes after 22 years im selling my 1973 240 Zed. In 2000 I striped it back to a bare metal shell and started a 2 year rebuild, using many new and rebuilt parts. One of the states best panel tradesmen spent 350 hours on the body and paint; this is one of the straightest Zeds you will ever find. I then spent over 18 months developing and installing the engine, driveline, suspension and brake systems. The programmable engine management system which comes with a laptop computer, security device and manuals, makes this car behave and drive like any new car. At the last National Concourse in Phillip Island this car ran a credible 2:03.65 for my first time at the circuit, and regularly runs in the low 1:13s at Wakefield Park. This car carries a full engineering certificate issued in NSW.See photos. http://picasaweb.google.com/RB30ZEDEngine:RB30 with RB25DE VVT ported head.ARP head studs and big end bolts. Administrators gav240z Posted July 26, 2016 Administrators Posted July 26, 2016 Know the car very well. A great buy for sure. Rb30/25 combo should be very street friendly and reliable. Quote
Moderators PB260Z Posted July 26, 2016 Moderators Posted July 26, 2016 Gidday Nice purchase. The Melb to Sydney drive would have really given you a chance to get to know your new car. Enjoy PB Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted July 26, 2016 Administrators Posted July 26, 2016 You can find the previous owners posts here. http://www.classiczcars.com/profile/1200-rb30-zed/ And see this: http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/916-introduce-yourself-to-the-class/?page=5#comment-22235 Hi, glad to be able to introduce myself. Im Steven, Live on the south coast of NSW Australia. I first saw a 240Z in about 72, it was the first prize in a shopping centre contest, i must have been 12 or so, and that was it. That was the car i had to have. So in 78 while i was a apprentice motor mechanic i sold my sole to the bank and got a 77 260z 2+2, not what i wanted but my family would help me pay for it if they could sit in it too. In 85 i bought my current 240 and drove it for 3 years until my daughter was borne, then sold it for a station wagon ( why do we do that ? ). Then in 98 i bought it back from the guy i sold it to. Five years ago i started on rebuilding the car, first i fitted a L28, then supercharged it . Three years later i striped the body back to bare metal, had it painted and repaired, this took 6 months in the shop. Once i got the car home again the suspension, brakes, transmission, RB 30 Engine, wiring, glass, rubber seals, badges, dash board and chrome was replaced or rebuilt. Other cars ive owned are two Datsun 1600's ( P510) a Nissan stanza, 78 skyline, old Volvo wagon, 850 Volvo sedan, Lexus SC400 and im thinking of a Nissan GTi-R Pulsar to replace the Lexus. For the last 5 years ive been teaching Motor mechanics, car and truck at TAFE (Technical and Further Education) Happy to meet you all. Steven Quote

Bloozed Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 Congrats Scott Looks a great car and good to see another car in NSW, especially the central coast (I am in Newcastle). In case you were looking for something to do there is the all Japanese car and bike show on this Sunday morning at Hunter Stadium. This conversion has a lot of appeal, does it have a/c? Think that is my favourite modification. Bloozed (now white) Quote
zedls1 Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 Hi Lurch, Congrats again to Scott, I trust he'll enjoy the Z as is right now and for many years to come adding his own touches. Yes I'm quite sad about it, missing her badly, but honestly I've driven her 2 times this year, life at the moment is way too busy and I'm sure many fellow Z owners are possibly in the same boat. It all happened pretty quickly I guess and I don't think I was really ready to let her go. I know it's gone to a good home and I still plan to be on the forum following Scott with the Z and all the other members Z's, there's some awesome builds going on. As for future projects or plans, not sure yet, when things settle down a little with life, definitely keen for another 240Z but possibly more track focused, I'll be keeping a look out always for something. I did the return trip to Melb in he Z recently. Almost everytime I stopped someone came up and commented on the car. Great long distance cruiser the 2+2 Quote
Bloozed Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 Scott In response to your email, the previous owner said the a/c was fitted by Autofrost, 0297744556. He thought it was about $7k all up, gulp! Maybe send me your mobile. I mentioned a few of us go to Wakefield for the MRA regularity season. Hope this works and it gets a bit more feisty towards the end. Gordon Quote
