PeterAllen Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 Folks I'm in desperate need of the five minute loan of two 16" or 17" wheels. Cozza lent me two 16" wheels but they have a step which fouls on the callipers (see photo). 16" without the step should fit and I'd feel pretty sure any 17", or plus, wheels should be okay. Sutherland, Sydney. I'll offer a drive of the GTO as a thanks (you're under no obligation to accept!). mobile = oh for one juan oh nein won ate sex seven. Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted June 26, 2016 Administrators Posted June 26, 2016 Only 17" wheels I have are on the FD and are 5 stud and different PCD I'm afraid. Quote
peter t Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 Come on guys, surely someone can help out here. This is a fantastic car and a great guy as well. Help him out. Quote
Dionysus Posted June 27, 2016 Posted June 27, 2016 (edited) What car do they need to go on? And do they need to be road worthy? Different size but similar rolling diameter? I'm not far from you and have a few set depending on what you're after. Edited June 27, 2016 by Dionysus Quote
PeterAllen Posted July 4, 2016 Author Posted July 4, 2016 Folks, I'm really getting desperate for a loan of these wheels... PLEASE. Dionysus, you've gone quiet on the PMs? Quote
PeterAllen Posted September 20, 2016 Author Posted September 20, 2016 Okay, not only a drive of the GTO but I'll throw in my first born. I need 16" wheels for one day only... PLEASE Quote
Agno Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 Seriously someone has to have some wheels... Quote
Dionysus Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 Hi Peter Thought you were sorted? Can't recall. I have that set of 16s off the car if you're interested? 225/50s with a positive offset of some sort.. Quote
dat2kman Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 On Casey's 240, he had Simmons in 16" that had this same issue, ( it had the big diam rotors and Willwood four pistons) we ended up fitting 16" Rota RB rims, as they did not have the step as far back, compared to his original Simmons. 260DET Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 Yes, watch out for two piece Simmons as far as clearing big brakes go, their centres are often too small in diameter so the rims are stepped down to fit which reduces the ID. PS Help the OP out please, sounds like he may do something desperate otherwise Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted September 20, 2016 Administrators Posted September 20, 2016 Peter I was on Gumtree last night and just typed in 114.3 into the search box. http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-114.3/k0?fromSearchBox=true Not sure if it matters if they are 4 or 5 stud? I saw a few 16" rims that were relatively cheap. If I had a set to lend to you, I would. Sorry. Quote

PeterAllen Posted September 20, 2016 Author Posted September 20, 2016 Thanks Gary. I've been on Gumtree and eBay every day but nothing suits - wrong offsets or interstate. Am I correct in understanding 240Zs have Zero offset and 260s have -12mm? andyk_79 1 Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted September 20, 2016 Administrators Posted September 20, 2016 Peter actually I think the PCD on my FD RX-7 wheels is 114.3 but it's a 5 stud wheel. You might be able to get away with only 4 lug nuts on it? They are quite wide, not sure they will fit nicely under S30 guards but your GTO conversion might be wider? Quote

Gav, I might be missing some sarcasm in your comment but I'll explain anyway. 5x114.3 wheels have 5 holes arranged in a star shape while 4x114.3 wheels have 4 holes arranged in a square. You cannot just run 5 stud wheels on a 4 stud car by installing only 4 lug nuts. Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted September 21, 2016 Administrators Posted September 21, 2016 Yeah I wasn't sure, never tried it. So thanks for clarifying. Quote

I have a set of 16" 4X114.3 Simmons and the centres are exactly the same as the 15's on the bus. Quote

Don't listen to this guy!!! 1 stud will line up, and all you have to do is cut the other 3 off with the grinder, and then the wheel fits. ScottyD 1 Quote
