Stivva Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 Anyone got one of these roller things laying about? Or even if you have a couple I can try. My drivers door is missing at least one, not sure how many they should have. Quote
Linton Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 mmm curious I have not seen one of these? Quote
cracker Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 What does this roller do? I also have never seen one before. Quote
Cozza Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 Hi Steve Sorry, I don't have any but would be interested in getting 2 of each side if you do find a supplier. Here's a link to part numbers. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/9397-240z-window-roller/#msg118405 Cheers Mate Mick Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted November 24, 2015 Administrators Posted November 24, 2015 They stop your windows rattling about and are usually missing on most S30z's now. They attach to the chrome strip that runs along the top edge of the door. Your best off ordering them brand new in my opinion. Second hand ones are likely to have had the rubber go bad by now. Plus they are yellow cad plated new . Hopefully you can still get them new? Quote
d3c0y Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 Driver's side is NLA. I'm keen on one too if we find a supply. Quote
nizm0zed Posted November 25, 2015 Posted November 25, 2015 crazy idea, but maybe a factory in China coud knock up a batch?Sure, they'd probably only do a minimum of 10,000 units, but between the Australian, American and Japanese market they would sell pretty quick.I would expect 10,000 units to be gone within a 1.5-2 year timeframe (pending price, obviously)I would take a guess that your unit price from the factory would be $1-3 each, with a reasonable resale value at $40 a pair.Once you have sold your stock and shown a market for it, you then sell on the 'intellectual property rights' and China contacts to MSA or Black Dragon for a reasonable fee, then let the rest of it be their problem when the market is satisfied and demand dries up.Now all we need is a backer with some cash to invest... Administrators gav240z Posted November 25, 2015 Administrators Posted November 25, 2015 Now all we need is a backer with some cash to invest... I've actually considered doing this for some parts but the time to realise your return on capital is long and you have to spend time listing them on eBay (eBay fees) + postage (time to take to post office etc..) It's not easy cash...You'd want to be replicating more than just window rollers. Do you have any reliable contacts in China to produce stuff like this? Alibaba seems promising but I'm never sure how reliable they are... As a side note if there is enough interest in parts like this I'm happy to try and source in bulk. Quote
aussie240z Posted November 26, 2015 Posted November 26, 2015 I had only one on an earlier zed and ended up making one for the second door with some gal steel for the plate and roller from Bunnings. made a paper template wrapping around the plate, marked up cutouts etc and then folded, stepped as needed with a small benchtop folder. It has worked well and survived multiple offroad shakes and rattles. I will check if I still have the template I made and maybe some pix. It was quite a while ago (as in 5+ years) so maybe a challenge to find now. will update And standard config is one per side i believe gav240z and d3c0y 2 Quote

Administrators gav240z Posted December 18, 2015 Administrators Posted December 18, 2015 That is crazy pricing, but if you were desperate you might pay it. I think it is a good part to reproduce. Anyone know what the rubber rollers name is? That would be the hard part the rest looks easy enough to fabricate. Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted December 18, 2015 Administrators Posted December 18, 2015 http://www.bobcometal.com/04-526a.html Could weld it onto the bracket. Not sure about size compared with stock they are quite small. Quote
