Nice garage! Wish I had that kind of space.

The only orange colour was Kalahari Tan (918).

Just going to leave this link here.

http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/3775-240z-year-of-manufacture/

Contains useful build date info. Should be useful later.

Also made some progress on building a Registry for s30z's, hopefully be able to show you a demo shortly for feedback. Do want to customise it a little to help separate between HS30, RS30, GRS30 and eventually other market prefix and maybe also suffix?

Try and build a comprehensive global register that can be filtered based on different attributes.

I have some suggestions and issues to put forward regarding an S30Z registry - but it may be better to start a new topic rather than divert this one.

Good work locklock. That is the facebook page of the well-known Z Shop in Victoria and as you have spotted, they currently have photos of the following low number cars-

  • HS30-00092
  • HS30-00236
  • HS30-00281
  • HS30-00297
  • HS30-00420
  • HS30-00614

None of these have been listed here before.

Yes good work, HS30 00150 sat in Zshop for a number of years I believe.

A lot of those photos are quite old so the cars may or may not still exist.

Sadly only 1 of those chassis numbers is under HS30 00100.

I was doing a big clean out of all sorts of paraphernalia I have collected going back some 30 years and came across this, a very well preserved build plate from a 240Z.

The story behind it is very simple, back in 1989-1993 I owned Eurocar Auto Repairs, my partner at the time also had an S30 and managed to stick the front into the rear of a LinFox truck, the headlamp bucket support panel, skirt reinforcement beam and parts of the skirt and rad support panel were cactus and we managed to source a RHF skirt and rail from a wrecking yard in Melbourne's eastern burbs for it and changed the skirt forward of the strut tower with the section. This came off the skirt and was turfed into a box of odd parts I kept.

Therefore, it is with much regret that I wish to advise that sometime before 1989, HS30-01179 with engine number L24-051849 passed away into history.

It would be interesting to see if the engine pops up in someones ride or collection.

Cheers

John

Just wanted to add a link to this page.

http://www.classiczcars.com/topic/27228-new-here-from-south-africa/

Since it has some interesting info, but also post #8.

Picture: my first 240Z chasis 001250 sometime in 1999 on the way to Cape Town.

So a good chance it's HS30 001250 ?

Hi

Just thought I would share the hatch photo of 532 showing where the vents have been filled in (at some stage).

I remember others saying the vented rear hatches were only on first 200 series 1 cars  but this hatch seems original (hints of 918 evident :)

I'm pretty sure we agreed it was up until HS30 00500 based on the workshop manuals? It seems 501 was the first to have no vents in the hatch.

I wonder what they used to fill the vents in your hatch? Bondo? Doesn't look like it was welded up. For that reason maybe they did you a favor anyway? Should be easy to remove and revert back.

The vented hatches had a slightly different trim card too didn't they?

That's correct.

For those interested, this is what HS30-00016 looked like several years back. (Approx. 1991)

#35 - That's a good photo, it shows the indicators in the same position as the AU market, which confirms the UK lighting regulation issues Nissan had after the first couple of imported HS30's. Which might be why we received so many of the early HS30's in the Australian market.

Also note that it does not have blinkers in the fenders and has no door or fender mounted mirrors.

This is an early 1971 press photo -
