Interesting.. first 240z I ever drove in was that colour scheme and it was sold around 98, seller was out in Ringwood. I wonder if it was the same car! It certainly has a lot of the features, rear wing, black interior, black engine bay and burgundy exterior colour. But could be wrong...

I previously thought this car was HS30 00160 but in actual fact and according to QLD transport department the number plate indicates it's actually: HS30 01213, although listed as a 1970, it should be a 1971. Which explains the non-solid steering wheel also.

Hi Guys, 855 was my car here in Port Lincoln, I have sold it overseas to the UK, should be leaving next week. Didn't really want to sell it, but circumstances dictated it had to go,  I also have a 76 260z waiting to get on the road, and a sub 300 early girl that needs a resto, so plenty of Zeds to keep me busy !!but more on that later.

Thanks I saved the photos of #855. Shame she's going to the UK, another 1 going abroad.

Would you mind sharing the number of your sub-300 early girl? Is she already recorded in this thread or is this another car?

HS30-130735

9/73

Matching numbers

I can only find 2 cars that are registered with WA Z register after this number

Does being a late model make cars less desirable.

Hi specialp3 - i have a feeling that your car might be HS30-103735, 130735 seems too high. The highest number I know of is 103781.

http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/13437-chassis-number-bingo/page-2 post#30

Purchased HS30 - 103781 last year from QLD, may be the car PeterH was talking about!

White - 3 speed auto. Will add car details to the register shortly

If you owned this car in 2011, then I met you at the Datsun Nationals at Goulburn in that year. And having had a close up look at the car - it is superb!!

Sorry, typo.

It is 103735.

103779 which is the last car on he WA register is currently under going restoration.

I did have the car 2011 as I purchased it from the original owner in 1998. A few more improvements since Goulburn.

Thank s for compliment, I love my zed. Only wishing I bought more when they were cheap.

I found that Jack's car is HS30 00314 and original engine number was: L24179183

That engine number is way too high for the chassis number.

It's the engine number Vicroads has on record. So it must not be the original engine that was fitted to the car. My mistake.

This is incorrect. Graham has 67,117 & 300 as the lowest numbers in his collection.[/size]

Interesting to see car #117 crop up here, this was one of my old cars, at the time I bought it, it was silver over blue with blue seats, unfortunately, the original engine had long gone, and it had been fitted with a 280 motor

It had serious rust, so I decided to sell it, due to the non original engine and condition, and so I could buy a better condition, original car (#306) from the same owner that sold me #117, incidently, this guy still has #99, which is an original car in 907 green.

#227 has a new home in Port Lincoln !!  Well whats left of it is in Port Lincoln !!, made the road trip to Adelaide to drop #855 of at the shippers to begin its journey to the UK, and collected #227 from its previous custodian for the last few years. Previous owner has stared the rust repairs, new roof, new floor pans, and collected a lot of new and used parts, but he just ran out of time and energy with to many other things on his plate, so now here I go !! Needs wheel arches, dog legs, some sill panel work and to finish of the front pillars, but biggest job will be the firewall which is very bad near the top. Once I finish my current 260z project I will get this up on the rotisserie and get stuck in !! in the mean time I know it is a longshot, but has anyone seen a roof skin or complete roof for a Z 2 seater recently ?     Regards Mark

Hey Gav,

Just realised when I pulled down the 240z zed off the storage rack it is actually no. 536 NOT 532 as previously advised (sorry),

Surprised how solid this car is after giving it a good clean down & inspecting on the hoist

The hit in the side Casino car, back on page 13, was stripped by a well known in Roadster circles chap, was with him last weekend, he cut out the firewall and kept the plates/ID tags from that car.

He's also restored another very early car, not sure f its lsted here!

Another early car could be the ex Larry/Lex Greenhalgh car, now, still, owned and raced by Gold Coaster John KcKeon.

Have raced this car for John, in the past, and it flexes a fair bit, due to its alloy cage.

Its not that far a "race car" that it couldn't be brought back.

So... do we get to know the number of the Casino car? Or your friends early restored car?

If you can find out it's number it would be great to add it to the record.

What's the point of cutting out the firewall and I.D tags? Do they use them on another to make it a low vin car?

AKA "re-birthing"

Yes, has been inown to occur, with desirable cars,,,,,,

Gav, my mate is travelling about the country, wont be home for a while, we caught up with them n Nth Coast NSW for a week, i had no dea he had a couple of low number jobbies.

We are mainly Roadster guys, but we certainly dont get all moist about the low numbers in them, buts thats because they are all very lw numbers!

A member on here, has a 2000 Roadster, number 4 off the line.

Six degrees of separation... I raced an ex-Larry Greenhalgh car (#24) 45 years ago.

That looks amazing Peter, I sure it gives 'racing' a different meaning.

Wow, that sounds a little unsavoury, Datsun or not.

Is this the same chap who has a couple of "low number" Z's? >:D
