Here's a few pics from today's event. Was only a relatively small turnout but there was still a few nice cars to look at.

You can add HS30 00319 into the list as still alive and kicking.

GK510 replied to XRQTR's topic in Parts and Tools for Sale
Well there you go! When I saw the ad had already been on gumtree for 2 hours I thought there was a fair chance someone may have already spotted it! Hopefully someone can help out WogsRus! -
The Ebay Thread #2 - Post Ebay Parts Here!

A few bits and pieces in Redcliffe QLD for those that can pick up. Not sure what a new 260Z console is worth??? http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/redcliffe/other-parts-accessories/datsun-260z-240z-parts/1086685668 -
Car inspection in Perth. Volunteer wanted?
GK510 replied to luvemfast's topic in General Discussions
I take it this has been sorted via PM? If not, there is a slim chance I can help out if needed. Although I am going on holidays this Friday and would probably struggle to get to Kallaroo during daylight hours which may make looking at something a bit difficult. Anyhow, let me know if you get desperate. Cheers, Graham. -
Thanks, PM replied to!

Yep, that's the type I'm after Peter.

Hey folks, I'm chasing a few bits and pieces and thought I would see if anyone had anything they wanted to offload before looking elsewhere or abroad at MSA or Black Dragon etc. Parts needed are for an early or "Series 1" 240z I'm after both L/H and R /H outer belt moulds. I would either like some moulds that have good rubbers, or if anyone has had any recent success in replacing the rubber strips on their moulds, I'm all ears..... Inner and outer shift boots. Inner shift boot needs to be the early type. Hatch, doors and tail light rubbers. Would look at a whole rubber kit if someone had one that was excess to requirements. Once again, any comments on recent experiences with particular kits welcome. Gear lever bushes. I just need to pull the lower boot off to double check which type they are. It has the early type box with the flange at the rear. Not sure if this tells me what type they should be without looking? Black Dragon seems to be the only place I have found a listing for the early type of inner shift boot. Has anyone had recent dealings with them? All good? bad? Or otherwise? Cheers, Graham

Nice one Cuong. I did see your wanted ad on Gumtree. Glad to see it worked for you.

While maybe note quite to the calibre of car porn, I got out last weekend and took a few quick pics after doing a couple bits and pieces to it. Mainly getting rid of the blacked out door handles, door locks and hatch lock along with ditching the crappy black plastic mirrors. Although I had to go with aftermarket chrome mirrors due to genuine ones being near impossible to find, they look a gazillion times better. Would have gone without a passenger side mirror if there wasn't already holes in the door. Now I need to sort the 240Z hatch badge and repaint the tail light surrounds back to a more original grey colour, amongst a heap of other stuff.

Just flicked you through a little helping hand Gav. I don't post much but I do plenty of reading and research so for anyone that puts in time to keep the place running or posts any of the knowledge within, it's much appreciated. I'm going through a bit of a re-evaluation phase at the moment and I fear that I may be having to use the classifieds section in the coming months. Nothing is decided yet, and while I only just got my Z in October last year, and even though I still have a big sh!t eating grin on my face when I take it for a weekend spin, it's one of the things that I may have to potentially put on the chopping block. It will have to come down to a decision between the 240Z and the 1600 as a house move will most likely mean I can't keep both, probably financially and for space reasons. The things we have to do hey........

Unfortunately I hadn't actually got around to fixing mine yet. Been a bit busy lately to be able to devote any time to the Datsun. I made up a little hotwire harness with a push button start switch to allow me to drive the car for the time being. With mine it is the actual switch that is the problem, not the barrel/key. While looking around I just came across a few options on ebay. Some were a complete barrel, keys and switch, some were just the switch part. I haven't ordered either yet. I'd be interested in buying one of the switches to save me having to get one off ebay from O/S. I'll flick you a PM.
-
So my ignition switch has just decided to crap itself. Before I order one online I thought I'd put the call out in case anyone has a spare new or good condition used one they are willing to offload. It did my head in for a little while trying to work out what was wrong. I had been having a go installing a replacement tacho I had bought and when the car wouldn't start afterwards, I immediately assumed it was going to be something to do with the tacho wiring but not so. I worked out the engine fires but wouldn't keep running unless I held pressure on the switch in the "on" position. After pulling the switch apart, I found the black plastic is cracked/broken so I don't think there's much point trying to reco it. I'll have to work out a good means of hot wiring it until I get my hands on a new switch.
-
Good score! Very similar looking to mine due to the colour and wheels. For what it's worth, mine is very close in build number being #319 and doesn't have a compliance plate either. I can't see any holes in the area that compliance plates are mounted on other examples so I am inclined to think that it never had one.
-
Nice pics! Some great results too. The car just looks at home on the track. Even if it is a bit tail happy
-
You would be surprised at some of things you find when working up under the dashboard. One of the better ones I came across in my years working as a mechanic was similar to what you have found. Except that this one had the speaker and about a metre of excess length wiring coiled up and cable tied to the top of the brake pedal!
-
The speaker looks like it's probably part of a mobile phone hands free kit. Some of the other random wiring is most likely related to it also.
-
I agree. Mike's analogy is spot on!

I managed to source some wheels for my newly acquired 240Z and what a difference it has made to the look of the car. Not that the wheels I've fitted are anything special, and to be honest there's more than enough Z's running around with this style of wheel but I'm still a fan of them. It really gives the car the look I was hoping for. I'm not sure what the thinking was behind the wheels that were fitted to it originally? Each to their own I guess. Before..... After.....
-
They are for the early 240. I've managed to source a full set of gauges that are supposedly out of another early model so should be all good. They seem to be the same as what is currently in the car and also match the pic you posted. Not that I really needed a full set of gauges but it can't hurt to grab some early spares while they're available.
-
Cool. Thanks for the confirmation guys. I had the feeling that I could just swap over the internals if need be.
-
I'm looking at getting a couple of replacement gauges (particularly a tacho and a temp/oil pressure) and while looking around online I've noticed that there seems to regularly be various gauges popping on ebay etc. in the US. Does anyone happen to know if there is anything that would cause a problem if fitting gauges from a LHD car into a RHD? I'm more thinking along the lines of physical fitment problems such as bezels/surrounds being on the wrong angle or rear mounting points being in the wrong spot. I did a bit of searching on here and some other forums but couldn't find any answers. Anyone done this before?

Cars For Sale (3rd Party Sites) Ebay, Carsales etc..
GK510 replied to gav240z's topic in Cars For Sale
Oh to be in the US. There just seems to be an almost endless supply of Z's popping up for sale. The blue one that George posted a link to would do me nicely! -
After some of the early posts in the thread indicating that there may be a lack of Z's, it seems you had a great turn out. And by the looks of things, a beautiful day too. Some nice looking cars in that lot. Thanks for uploading the pics!

I've discovered wood screws too! Holding in the lower edge of the tail light surrounds, even though the lower clips still seem to be intact. I am also in the process of "restoring" my tail lights and front indicators/park lights after a previous owner decided it would be a good idea to use some spray on tint on the lenses. One light done, three still to go! The scary part is that I have only just started pulling the first few bits and pieces off so I'm sure there is a treasure trove of this sort of stuff still to be unearthed. I will most likely be reporting in to this thread again at a late date.
