Thanks Alan your insight and info. Yead didnt think these were 432 ones seen them and know what they look like. These like you said look like they made by kanto as no evidence of them being tampered or previously disassembled. And make sense that these were custom ordered. As listing was sketchy but still had to fight hard for them and pay more than ppl would ever for two gauges. I just liked them and had to have it so went for broke and put a silly high bid. Got the 240kmh 432 speedo but tacho is bit of a pain to locate. Btw theres a 432 for 40k in need bit of work still a bargain though. Check yahoo

This is still alive still parts collecting (arguing with the missus as she don't believe in getting parts when available but when needed. doesn't understand that don't work for old cars) so few goodies arrived from Japan. ZG nose from Restored via Otomoto. all i can say its freaking masterpiece. Worth EVERY $1 extra compared to the other one available. Its so nice that i don't want to put it on the car just want to look at it as it is. Brackets, bolts instruction manual all included. nutserts installed even the original markins for bolt holes for the ac guides are showing on the lower section and markings for number plate brackets. If this doesn't fit properly than your car is twisted . also got a Works front lip. to go with it not through otomoto someone else directly from japan. these are non flared version and i think this particular on eis not evena zg nose version as end needs bit of work to fit but not hard. i like it as it has dimples as the flares so ties in with the theme. concern i got is maybe bit too low and adds another 10cm to allready looooooong nose. but should keep the front end lift down at high speed. than again it looks so clean without any lips and finish is so good that doesn't need hiding. Now these are unique. Not sure about history of them but they are not home made replicas. The scale is printed exactly the same as factory gauges. now must be rare factory or custom items as I paid a small fortune for these two out-bidding hardcore Japanese bidders. Just had to have it. A must for my 240ZG I think they are in 260Z style housings but swap over into 240z housings to suit 240z dash. So if anyone knows any history about it let me know. im asuming they were of a S31 (aka 260Z models in japan as they still called them Fairlady Z) but never seen any info on them or pics on the net. But to me they look factory made as even the tape around the bezel looks exactly the same as my other stock gauges. Be interesting to find out if they are works gauges or something like that. yeah i know 10K rpm and 300kmh speedo bit wanky but i guess an incentive to do more engine work so the scales get a proper use :P besides the rear trim and few little items got all the bits. just time to start putting it all together.

Nice and i'm with nizmoZ. OTOMOTO hands down. worth every $ extra. trust me. i may have some parts lot cheaper if you want to save a bit ie flares and rear wing second hand though besides flares are new. PM me for details. also found those inspection lids if you want them.

Rb tend to run funny when cold. Best to let it warm up before driving. Expecialy if it boosted slightly. Problem is within idle control thingy and lack of air box for air flow meter. High winds or very cold patches will cause surging with poded air flows. Also is the blow off valve plumb back? I remembered mine doing similar things when cold. There is a sweet spot when temp Hits everything readjust and runs perfect. Similar even on neo rb25det when I had r34. Was working perfect till i put a pod filter and raised the boost. Didnt like driving while cold once warmed no issues.

Yep have them both still. One is on the car the other on shelf ill take some pics but both available. While im here: UPDATE: 1. new fender mirrors bullet type $375 2.new fender mirrors one set of flat type $315 3. door mounted mirrors one new two second hand. Second hand $100 pair. new $100 for one. 4. new Rear spoiler from japan 240zg style $250 ono surplus to my needs as i got the 432 one. 5. e88 head $50 As z parts are exy in japan not bothering anymore. Though if parts needed for silvias or 180sx s14 s15 let me know. Have apexi power fc for late model 180sx. Sorry aus $ is crap against yen and prices have gone up. Got heaps of other stuff so if u need something pm me. I may have it.

Tailshaft in Rear struts in (looking like monster truck) Wired the starter in Plugged in the s15 dash for some instrumentation, all the security systems so it lets me start the engine, and wired in the fuel pump, fitted radiator. Put some fresh bp98 Lets see what happens after 4 yrs of sleeping. See if this way is better. http://i1173.photobucket.com/albums/r590/FairladyZs30/180sx%20type%20X%20s15/805484C3-F157-49AF-B0EA-A927002C8653-2546-00000301DE7B1FC8_zpsfc75e97d.mp4 Bit of a delay with woohoo as i wasnt sure if it actualy started or something grinding or about to catch on fire. Short clip while it was warming up. Straight of front pipe no exhaust. Exhaust is in transit from Japan at the moment. http://i1173.photobucket.com/albums/r590/FairladyZs30/180sx%20type%20X%20s15/9B7E52A8-AF32-448B-A77E-E5411E54FC5B-2546-0000030585306171_zpsdcc5bc94.mp4 After warm up annoying the neighbours. Payback for them smashing the golf balls into the fence all afternoon. http://i1173.photobucket.com/albums/r590/FairladyZs30/180sx%20type%20X%20s15/73E3F9CF-3123-4BE7-9470-BB3970E92800-2546-000003078DE80E5D_zpsf52706e0.mp4 Well mechanicaly its alive and should drive. But theres lots of modifications to wiring now. Adapting s15 wiring to 180sx gear like dash, ac, power windows, headlight retractors, air bag,etc..... Still to bleed the brakes, sort out the abs warning light, do something about the 4wd stance and finaly body work. lots of work still. -

Not as much progress as i hoped but its progress. After thinking long time about raw alloy look or rough texture black look for the pipes decided on stealth black look. Oh and the hks blow me valve plumbed back in to keep the authorities happy. Few shots of the rear cradle still waiting for tailshaft to be finished. And rear end update just loosly fitted Yeah i know mess but no time for cleaning more assembly. Hopefully on weekend it will move on its own. Have few hicups with conversion but more on that later. -
He is a z working girl

Yay now you got a targa lol. Or what they call them on supras aero top. Frame looks damn good unlike what i found on the early girl only rust held by overspray no metal. Keep it up guys

hi RBmunkie. yeah the lingo here is slightly different. most are old farts grumpy as they lost their viagara.. well not really just stirring the pot. well in feb i sold a complete car under the price you after so yes it possible just need to wait. 240z here are like the first born don't touch it. How dare you offer a dirty RB for a Z. hahahaha well guys that have more than one (there are few here that doo) may consider it. But as said by others we get few through here. I was planing to go same path as you had all the gear but pulled the pin. run out of time and patience and too many project on the go at one time... so if u need the ins and outs i can fill you in.. it is possible but there some trickery needed regarding the front diff if going AWD and not wanting to change too much of te original car. or you can get a hilux chassis and do it that way. only one Z in Australia as AWD and running uses hilux chassis with 260z 2+2 body. . there are few in japan but none of them were good conversions in my opinion. half botched or just not right. if interested in more details Pm me or start a new topic in relevant section. just have the cash ready and punce quickly when right car comes as doesn't take long for bargains to vanish. not talking days talking hrs. Thriller has recently bought a good shell for similar money so yeah just keep an eye out.

Simon thats exactly what im doing well adelaide tailshaft service is.droped it off today. Ryan yeah i could have bolted it up but no movement between diff and gearbox. Didnt realy feel like damaging a 1k gearbox or $500 worth of mounts for sake of $175 to shorten and rebalance. Better be safe than sorry. Wager was just bit of fun. I guess from now on i got to believe a guy with experience vs numnuts at NS site where 98% have no freaking idea. Though idea may work using 6spd and non abs diff with auto 180sx shaft abs version. But cannot prove it for sure. -

Fairlady Z replied to Fairlady Z's topic in Off Topic Discussions
TIP: 1. DO Not believe anything you read on NS website. 2. DO Not listen to Ryan. anyway. auto ABS shaft may suit non ABS diff (Ryan is half correct) but s15 ABS diff and cradle and 6spd kinda fit but no room. 0 movement. Yes auto front half will go into the 6SPD gearbox once dust cap is knocked off. rear is still too long even with shortest of the lot the auto abs tailshaft which is hard to find. SO shorten the tailshaft or move the gearbox and motor by 10-15mm forward. anyway getting it shortened by 10-15mm be back on monday. cannot be bothered taking mount brackets off and re-drilling them 10-15 offset. so driveline another pause. time to tackle the wiring and intercooler. shh bout the wager :-[ -

Yeah im a sucker for nismo gear. Cannot beat the quality. Yours are bit better nick than mine. Lug nuts using whatever came with wheels. Mine are 18x8 all around with wierd offset 34 or something like it got a feeling it was of a stagea or maxima fwd style car. Running 4mm slip on spacer at front to clear calipers at rear seems good for the 180. On s15 s14 they sit too far in. Well tonight im trying out the tailshaft. Got a 1k waiger if will work or not. Ryan u better be right. Got auto 180sx tailshaft with and without abs. If i have to shorten it i loose 1k if dont i win 1k. Cannot wait to get home and try it out. Also my black silicone intercooler hoses have arrived woohoo. Gona be busy. So black pipes or raw alloy blasted for rough texture?? -

Thanks Ryan, Yeah diff is in same position as s13 and flange Is same so no issues on diff side. Just gearbox if manual shaft will fit 6spd. But Auto be interesting. Cheap as and heaps around. I guess i find out on wednesday when i visit an importer and compare. I know the auto shafts are shorter so need to keep that in Mind. -

As usual the site dedicated to these cars was as usefull as life boat with a big hole in it. Anyway few thing to know when doing similar thing. 1. Not worth it just keep the s13 cradle and swap the diff covers to suit. Than swap the hubs and driveshaft to suit. 2. But for whatever reason you want to do it, it can be done. I decided to go as i couldn't be stuffed swapping hubs diff covers or driveshaft probably taken me just as long. also bushings on s13 cradle were cactus replacement cost $200 plus for hard aftermarket ones which kill drivability. stock ones are almost $200 a piece. if still interested Here some things to know before hand. • S15 into rps13 or s13 will go in. Mounting points are same give or take 2mm but mine went in easy. • S14/S15 tailshafts does NOT go into s13. center bearing is on opposite side of uni joint. So wont bolt up. • S13 tailshaft fit s15 6spd find out tomorrow??? unknown at this stage • s15 cradle support brackets front ones do not fit just sell it or use as scrap. • s13 cradle support brackets front do not fit either.s15 cradle chunkier. needs modifying • s15 rear caliper are slightly bigger pistons. hand brake cable don't suit s13.Need to use s13 bits • s15 rear cradle brace don't fit to long needs shortening to clear fuel tank • s15 caliper hose too short need to use s13 ones • s13 handbrake cables too long. cable tie fixes that problem so don't rub on driveshaft • with s15 cradle suspension track is 10mm or so wider may limit offset wheels etc. but my 18x8 Nismos fit almost flush with outer guard how I wanted it. • need to use s13 upper camber adjust control arm. S15 strut position lot more backwards. On s13 strut hits s15 arm. S13 arm is Interchangeable same length and sort out the strut issue. Now to expand and how to overcome the issues Rear s15 brace just needed shortening in to clear the fuel tank and fuel tank strap Cut and shut rear brace. Still not painted Front mount cradle support brackets. I used the s13 one cut the reinforcing folds and re bent it to suit new cradle. Welded the support fold up and braced it with 4mm flat bar to give extra stiffness. This inturn made the bracket sit slightly shorter of the chassis rail by 10mm so i stacked some thick washers and welded the in place. Could have just used 4 or 5mm thick plate and bent it in right shape. As car needs to go through government owned roadworthy inspection lot stricter than what most of u guys are used to in eastern states wanted to retain the original look. That sorts those issues. Now rear calipers s15 as mentioned before have slightly larger pistons also they are 10yrs newer so wanted to swap the over. Different handbrake cable hook up couldn't be just replace. Couldn't use 15 handbrake cable as length of mounting points is different so had to stick with s13 cables So what I did is swap the handbrake linkages brackets and spring. The handbrake bracket of s13 didn't fit as different mounting orientation. S15 fails on the driveshaft. So brilliant idea came to me to swap the two bracket from s15 from left to right. Needed slight grinding to clear the caliber casting but finally it was pointing in right direction. After swapping the linkage and spring all went together quite well. S13 vs modified s15 that will bolt up s13 cable. Use s13 hoses as s15 are 20mm too short. Before all went in under floor was all cleaned and resprayed too rewind the 21years of road grime and dirt to new car look. The rest ill update when i take good pics. was getting dark and flash photos look like crap. but it does look cool all nice and shiny. handbrake works perfect, wheels sit perfect not bad pretty much just went head first and hope for the best. just hope s13 tailshaft suit 6spd gearbox otherwise expensive mods to make a compatible tailshaft. -
got one straight but chrome is pitted. if u cannot find anything close let me know.

Haha never farken. Rather rusty datsun than a bogan ute. No rush atm. I wait. Figured we could use one car between misus and me. Driving my s14 again till 180sx is finished. But still after a bus. Got some crazy plans for it so want to pull it off and show the bus' are just as cool as 2 seaters. Oh Locky let me know about the head farken? Dont forget. Still want/need it.

What again??? No comment. Not after a started project. Want a registrable not too unsafe car. Dont mind few rust holes but preffer to have the rails not held by spider webs. Doesnt have to be clean or straight As long as it drives almost stops. Bit Like my camaro but in z format.
-
Im chasing a cheapish 260z 2+2 or 280zx Preffer in SA. Requirements: Body: as long as is not swiss cheese doesnt look defectable from accross the road. dont care about rust bubbles scratches dents etc.. Interior: not fussed Driveline: must run and not blow exesive smoke. Preffer manual but consider auto Other bonuses: towbar, walk in rego or registered. Price up to 2k max Just want a cheap runabout to get me around till my 180 is finished. Preffer 260z 2+2 as got heaps of spares i can throw at it.

My new soon to be daily mini project RX7
Fairlady Z replied to Fairlady Z's topic in Off Topic Discussions
Well may as well close this. With few parting pictures. I decided to part the car to re-coupe some of money spent on it also need the space. Camaro needs proper shelter. But got sold to a buyer of the blown engine after he decided he didnt want the engine anymore but wanted the whole car. Offer was close enough and i dont see the heartache of it beeing ripped appart. New owner is putting another 12a back in it and his wheels everything else hes not touching. Glad that its going to good home guy is a early rx7 nutcase like me. So bye bye little mazda was awesome fun driving that little buzz box. Chook cooker signing out. -

Ok spent few hrs on the 180 this weekend. Still slow progress. Spent few good hours sorting out the s15 loom inside a 180sx. Mounted the main cabin fuse box and junction box. Looks good as if mr nissan did it himself. No pics bad light so will take one when car is out. Installed the fg xr6 intercooler that i was going to install in my zg but decided to use the huge one that was in 180 for my zg. The fg one is good no extra holes or trimming required. More bolt up than bolt up aftermarket kits. End tank pipes slope away from the rails so no trimming of rails required either. No trimming to the exy genuine type x front bar either yay Next was dummy fitting the intercooler pipes. A collection of s13,z32 and god know of what car blitz aftermarket intercooler pipes. Was going to sandblast them to replicate the raw manifold texture but considering now wrinkle paint in black. Jsu to get rid of few alloy shiny bits. The factory type x strut bar and arc air box is enough of engine bling. As new black silicon hoses are on order before i can tick it of the list i thought i try out see how the 18" lmgt3 nismo wheels fit Ignore the monster truck ride height its on s15 stock suspension. I will reduce the gap once roadworthy is done by few kms hahahah Ps hope there no discriminatory boxes in background lol didn't check still havent sorted that side of the shed yet. Now lets see how far they stick out. Hmmm damn close looks like i got the strut top on different position on right wheel showing lot more +camber. With lowering and camber adjust and posibly next size wheel down 215 it be just right. After that decided to rip rear cradles out of both 180 and s15 Silly nissan to make my life bit harder the spacing of front mounts on the s15 is 5mm wider. So looks like i need to get some offset cradle bushes. But before cradle goes in replacing the handbrake linkages from s15 and cleaning detailing under car first give it few coats of new paint and than refit the cradle. Hope goes smooth but dont like my chances. Got temporarly 2 lamps fitted to workshop on extension lead so at leadt got some usable light in the workshop to put in few hrs after work. As i have no daily drive this is priority one now to get it on road asap. But not rushing things need to be done properly
