  1. But good chatting with you fly!
  2. More progress. As you can see, lots of little bits for this repair.
  3. and people wonder why there is a lull in posts...
  4. Pretty disappointed after driving there for an hour only one other person rocked up...
  5. Ehhhhh anyone here yet? :/
  6. +1 for L28. Preserve the original block for sale time, get bonus power + torque for next to nothing. Yeah basically no one would be able to tell it's not the original engine. Especially if you switch the rocker cover!
  7. Oh dimitri! Before I forget to remind you again! Could you possibly bring out those weather seal chrome corners?
  8. Of guys I'm in. See you soon!
  9. I have a cracked dash with a fiberglass cap on top, is that anything like you are after?
  10. Hmmm i might be a little uneducated here... but can't you just give a paint shop the colour code and they mix it up? Give or take a few bucks shouldn't it be close to nearly any metallic paint?
  11. Just saw a colour that is very close to what I'm after. It's the Mercedes mountain grey colour, which is a very popular colour for the AMG models. Still could be a touch darker but I'd be fine with this. https://www.google.com.au/search?q=mercedes+mountain+grey&espv=2&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=nc2OU6brD8ffkAXB9oH4Cg&ved=0CAYQ_AUoAQ&biw=1920&bih=979 The other thing I read about today is this fantastic product called Satin Guard http://www.prestige-films.com/auto_satinguard.shtml Basically it's a vinyl wrap that's a very thick, scratch reistant clear matte. So I can have my car the colour I want it, with the matte look I was after, while preserving the brand new paint-job that I'll have on the car. I don't want to be paranoid all the time that I'm going to scratch up the lovely new duco, i really want to drive this car, take it on long trips that may include some roads that aren't too perfect so having something that should protect the duco for the next 7 years is a little like paint insurance in my mind. Starting to see everything coming together now!
  12. Really??? Wow i thought the celica had at least a decent bit of sportiness. I guess that that's just something people do to them these days are they are such great looking cars. IMO, it would be a perfect classic jap car for my GF, because she really doesn't care about power at all or handling too much. Lets just see if she could commit herself to one! (Otherwise I do have a spare 2+2 shell kicking around ).
  13. Gee... they're pretty stupid reasons for being cheap! Well I guess all the better for us hey!
  14. I don't see any reserve...
  15. No bonnet unfortunately Problem is, if I split it up then the rest of it is worth near zip... You could buy the lot then try and sell it yourself slowly, I just don't have the space to part the car out effectively.
  16. Wow http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Purvis-Eureka-Sports-1975/111354559627?_trksid=p2047675.c100010.m2109&_trkparms=aid%3D555012%26algo%3DPW.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20140122130056%26meid%3D7306194085602840952%26pid%3D100010%26prg%3D20140122130056%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D24%26sd%3D191190480197
  17. Hey guys, I've been half considering getting my GF (well conning her in to getting) a neat li'l early jap sports car that she can nip around in (unfortunately a Z/ coupe is a little on the exxy side). I have noticed that the early TA22 (and the like) Celica's are DIRT cheap compared to Z's, and yeah i know that they aren't exactly in the same class of sportiness, but seriously, they are a damn funky looking car! Does anyone know why they can sell in decent condition for the 3-4k mark and near pristine at about 10k when Z's are demanding more than double that easily? Besides rust is there anything I should be looking out for? After the Z's these are probably my favourite looking 70's Jap car, and they are so cheap!
  18. Jeepers someone here buy it!!!
  19. Lol some of the comments on there are hilarious! Um, yeah. If the rust has all been done properly it seems as though its a bit of a bargain!!! I'm around 15k already and I have no paint yet even!
  20. If you want an engine that you barely have to think about that just works and delivers power smoothly go efi. If you want to modify your engine in any way and don't want to spend an absolute fortune, go carb. I personally would prefer if i could use efi, but i want to do stuff to my engine, so the stock efi would let that down. Unless you really can't do much on a car, swapping an entire engine and loom from a 280zx wouldn't be too hard, there are a couple of other things you might like to farm out like fuel lines, pump etc. but overall a pretty simple swap. One of the other negatives of stock efi is that you just simply don't get that amazing sound you'd get with carbs/ ITB's. Overall, if all those neg's don't bother you, I'd go with efi, if they do, just get your carbies tuned (and if you don't already have one, switch to a L28 while you're at it).
  21. Link would be handy...
  22. Oh gee! I thought it was 5k each!!!
  23. WOW that was fast!!! You nearly have to just sit on this site 24/7 to pick up anything for a reasonable price...
  24. Lol, straight 6 rotary would be NUTS!!! Now that would be a rotary with Torque! VG38dett???
