  1. im interested. would these be ridiculously overkill for a near stock engine? the price isnt much different to the basic extractors going on ebay.
  2. im keen to see some pics. is it in bunbury? how come you didnt know it was running? what made you thought it wasnt?
  3. to those offering cars, please post some pics and details, i am always keen to buy cars lol and i am sure there are other people looking too. @OP, there was one for ~3k on gumtree a week or two ago. i looked at it when the previous owner was selling it nearly a year ago, mechanically it was good and had nice interior, but there was a bit of rust.
  4. customs charges fees when the item plus postage is worth more than 1k.
  5. unfortunately not. http://www.infrastructure.gov.au/roads/vehicle_regulation/bulletin/pdf/NCOP5_Section_LG_Brakes_V2_01Jan2011.pdf page 9, last sentence of section 2.7.2 : "Caliper pistons must be fitted with dust seals."
  6. put me down for the 3 steering and suspension products, plus the front brakes.
  7. one other savings buster is then posting anything within australia, which could easily add another $50+ for interstate people like me.

these shifters work well on the trimatic, but you need an extra bracket to suit (~$20 they charge). they have a long cable that does the shifting, so you can put the shifter whereever you want. and being ratchet style, it is good for burnouts http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/HURST-PRO-MATIC-2-RATCHET-SHIFTER-ALT-B-M-PRO-RATCHET-/170397730398?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item27ac7f065e
  9. im keen on stuff. but what about customs, anything over 1k attracts big fees. something to consider, might be a good idea to buy some US$ now incase the AUS$ keeps dropping.

one thing to consider is the sump. what do they do with chev conversions? there are 3 factory sumps for the holden motor. the front hump on commodores, the rear hump on HQ-WB, and the pre-HQ had a centre hump. so plan accordingly. i went and did a little research on power too. it is a bit difficult to compare accurately, due to some ratings being gross and some net etc, but it is plain to see that 253 has as much power as the L28 and considerably more torque at lower rpm. MQ Patrol 80-87 L28 (from my service manual, single carb) Power: 118 Hp (88 kW) at 4800rpm (DIN) Torque: 147 lb-ft (200 Nm) @ 3200rpm (DIN) Net HP Gross HP 240Z 121 151 260Z 130 162 280Z 75-78 136 170 280ZX NA 79-83 145 182 (from wikipedia 280zx page) HQ 71-74 253 Power: 185bhp (138kw) at 4400rpm Torque: 262lb-ft (355Nm) at 2400rpm HZ 77-80 253 Power: 161bhp (120kw) at 4550rpm Torque: 240lb-ft (325Nm) at 2600rpm VH 81-84 253 Power: 100kw at 4200rpm (115kw at 4400rpm when dual exhaust fitted) Torque: 269Nm at 2000rpm (289Nm at 3200 when dual exhaust fitted) (all from uniquecarsandparts.com.au)

in my experience, 253 MQ patrol chops a L28 MQ patrol. if you could get the 253 in cheap, why not. should go plenty hard and sound good at the same time. chews fuel, who cares? can always swap a 308 in later, although apparently good condition aussie pattern 308 are getting hard to come by. what gearbox do you have?
  12. can you post a pic of the pads side by side, so i can see the surface area difference ive got a mate giving me a front diff from a 60 series landcruiser, which has the vented disc and caliper setup that i am going to put onto my 81 hilux. then i will be left with these same calipers to stick on the datsun hows that for recycling.
  13. happened over here a few years ago when they were 'striking', looking for a pay rise or whatever. i actually got caught doing a 'powerskid' in front of a cop, and got let off. this was before the impound laws too though.
  14. hi zr240. sorry to keep bothering you in every one of your threads lol. can you get vl rb30 na starter motors, apparently they are a good bolt-on upgrade for the L2* starter motor.
  15. can you supply a thermal switch at a good price, to go with the fans?
  16. cool, thanks. i will wait til you get some fans in stock and might order a bunch of things at the same time.
  17. ive been looking for a battery just like this (odyssey alternative). how much to post?
  18. did you get a price on postage?
  19. the core on my 260z is 600wide and 400 hide and there would be max 80mm room before hitting water pump. there is a fair bit of room in front of rad too. how much would you charge for postage for 1 or 2 fans to perth?
  20. you could look on gumtree, people are always renting out garage spaces etc. there is also a mint silver 260z on ebay in your price range at the moment, although i think its a bit over priced compared to eastern states zeds. not related to insurance, but my zed lived on my driveway for a few weeks. some kids walked past one day kid 1: wow, whats that? looks like a ferrari! kid 2: nah its a mustang! so there you go, it makes people happy
  21. have you got some cfm and amp ratings?
  22. hi. please keep us informed of any future group buys or braces you bring in to sell, i am keen for some but only just spotted this thread. ps- you have $2600 worth of goods coming in one package, i think customs will spot that
  23. hey Zedman240, is there a specific vl starter you need, like auto na. i have read vl turbo uses a bigger flywheel and different starter to suit, so there is at least 2. Luni260z, you could look at CDI ignition and just keep the points dizzy. they relieve the workload of the points, and deliver a nice big spark to boot. something like a msd 6 and matching coil would get the job done.
  24. hi, can you give some more details on the brake setup, which reading between the lines is for the rear. i guess 2 important questions i have is does it have handbrake function and does it fit under stock wheels?
