  1. opening a can of bog would be more effective K&H is 3M's brand of body products. http://solutions.3m.com.au/wps/portal/3M/en_AU/AU_AAD/Home/Solutions/Filler/?PC_7_RJH9U5230OLLB0II6IU3PQ1GV6000000_assetId=1180588574816
  2. can you give some info on how you set it up too?
  3. have you got stock brakes and m/c?
  4. Hmm. Will have to investigate. Wish I had of known this a weak ago lol. I drove from Darwin to Perth with no high beam haha.
  5. You're not going to believe this, but I have NFI how to turn on the high beam in my 260z? The LH stalk has off-park-low lights, wipers and washer. RH stalk does indicators. It seems to pull towards you, but does nothing, and seems to return to center (maybe this is meant to be hi beam flash, but something is wrong?).
  6. those electronic upgrades arent going to make much better performance. it is still the same old coil delivering the spark. the CDI run the coil at 400 volts or something (so dont hook your tacho to it), so it puts out a bit fat 50000 volt spark. some also put out multiple sparks at <3000rpm, which is meant to make idling etc better. when used with a points dizzy, the CDI units also relieve the load on hte points so you dont need to worry about them burning out (they are just a tiny signal trigger now, not a 'loaded' switch). hte benefit of an electronic dizzy with the CDI is better timing control etc, but you wouldnt expect better spark.
  7. just read vsb14. i think vic might have a slightly different draft, but it should be similar. http://www.infrastructure.gov.au/roads/vehicle_regulation/bulletin/pdf/NCOP9_Section_LM_Fuel_Systems_01Jan2011_v2.pdf
  8. i read a post somewhere and someone mentioned they had a lot of wheels pinched whilst in transit. he then said he now gets wheels shipped individually, to prevent that problem, and it would also help the 1k limit as mentioned above.
  9. that overlander zed is awesome! i had a HZ ute overlander for a few years, so much fun driving around in something that shouldnt be lol
  10. have you considered a 4wd? my mates got a new turbo diesel defender, it is chipped up and pumping 600+nm atw (all of them, coz its awd). towed my zed like it wasnt even there, we were still dragging cars out the lights lol. i am a fan of the mazda bt-50s as well, after having rented one from bunnings (which is only the little 2.5L, the 4wds have 3L).
  11. i believe the less harmful 2k are called the ISO free versions. ive seen in autoone a motorspray brand hi-build iso free 2k primer. here is a link. http://www.diytools.com.au/MOTOSPRAY-2Pack-ISO--Free-Primer-Isolator-41-4ltr.html i did a bit of searching and for a cheap gun found a lot of people recommending the workquip p102g (<100 on ebay if memory serves). it is a gravity fed gun and comes with 1.4, 1.8 and 2.5 tips, so good for just about everything a DIY person would need. i have just resprayed my hilux over the xmas break with acrylic. had no dramas with the gun (except for when i tried to mix the primer in the gun pot, didnt mix very well ) i ran ~40psi out the gun (got a gauge and water sep) and my 2.5hp compressor kept up with coating the whole cab no worries. for the mask, i got a sundstrom off ebay too. came with a particle and gas filter. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/SUNDSTROM-FACE-SPRAY-MASK-KIT-RESPIRATOR-SPRAY-PAINTER-/170460214961?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item27b03876b1 one add (not that one) says that exact face mask is good for 2k (as it comes with the A1 gas filter), but then i also see they sell an A2 organic gas filter. so who knows? probably best get the lot and just stack them all haha http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/SUNDSTROM-MASK-A2-Gas-Filter-x-1-PAINT-RESPIRATOR-/170421278819?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item27ade65863
  12. are you aware of the health and safety rules that accompany 2-pac?! doesnt seem to have been mentioned.
  13. i lift motors with rope around whatever i can loop it through. same piece of rope has lifted like 8 motors now, some with gearbox (one a big old diesel 6 with 4x4 gearbox and transfer on the back).
  14. those plasma cutters do look good. i was looking at a token tools one. token tools is pretty cheap as it is all from china, but the guy has designed it all himself, just gets it built there. there are many favorable reviews for TT on the net.
  15. seems i gave you a bum steer there. it was $81 lol. and then $13 postage. but it was from these guys on ebay (http://www.onlinebrakeparts.com.au/default.htm), though i just looked and they dont have anything listed at the moment. it was made by reliance and part # JB-1133
  16. 10k is way too high. there is another 2+2 on gumtree with efi and full rebuild (with respray) a few years ago the ad says, also 10k. my car is similar to yours, although auto and it had no carbies when i got it, but i got it for 4k. and mine had no surface rust, just a few bubbles here and there. when you strip them back, there is big holes.
  17. so i take it everyone is using these for the timing tuning ability, not just bigger spark? what dizzys are you using and how are you locking them out?
  18. i made a thread on this exact subject earlier this year. i tried the 1" (for forward thinking reasons, same as OP) and it was really hard to brake. ive since fitted a normal m-cyl because i found a new one for sale for ~$75. have yet to drive the car though.
  19. +10 internetz to you hahaha
  20. the plain old 5L efi engines in vn commodores etc were 165fwkw from factory. even though the 5L may have less power and torque on paper, they make a heap of torque at lower rpms. this will make the zed feel awesome! doesnt sound like you know how a diff works lol. all the power will be transmitted through both wheels equally, until one looses traction. in an open diff, all the power then gets 'sent' to this single wheel. in an LSD, a portion of the power would get sent to the other wheel as well. v8 commodores used to come with open centres, not much of a drama. mine has a spool, a lot more fun.
  21. way to many unknowns to guess what the engine is making. compression ratio plays a big part, as does head work, manifold etc. even the cam will shift the power all over the place. a rebuilt 308 will be great fun in a zed regardless. aussiev8.com.au forum is a good place for 308 help.
  22. im gonna hold on to it until i get it running with the twins. so might take a while. might be best posting on patrol forum, someone should be able to hook you up. http://www.patrol4x4.com/forum/nissan-patrol-mq-mk-12/mq-mk-classifieds-57586/index20.html
  23. thanks dave. i will hook it up and see what happens.
  24. can anyone give some info on the fuel connections?
  25. hi, need some help with fitting up some twin su's onto my l28 which currently has a single carb on it (from a patrol). the fuel lines have got me the most stumped. i have marked them in red. i reckon L2 must be inlet, and similarly R3. but i don't know what R2 is and why it isn't on the left carb too. and what is L1 and R1? fuel overflows/returns or something? water is blue. will run without this i reckon. yellow is PCV. how does this system normal get hooked up? thinking i might go without and just run filters on the crankcase and rocker cover, and block the pcv off. green im thinking of sending to the auto. purple to the brake booster. should i send one of the other 2 vacuums to the dizzy, or is there a better spot for this?
